Note:
• If it’s a hassle to remove plants from the room, you can just cover them with cloth before
the disinfection.
• UV-C light will only disinfect objects that are directly illuminated. If there is an obstacle
between the object and the lamp, the object will not be disinfected effectively. So, it is a
good idea to arrange the room (or position the lamp) in a way that as many objects as
possible would be in direct line of sight of the lamp.
• If the external cable or any other part of the lamp is damaged, do not operate the lamp.
The cable can be exclusively replaced by the manufacturer or an authorized service
agent in order to avoid a hazard. In case cable or any other part is damaged, please
contact Bacteo at www.bacteo.com/support.
Remove animals from the room before starting the disinfection. It is recommended to hide
plans from direct exposure of the UV-C light, cover them, or remove them from the room.
Close the window curtains.
WARNING:
This lamp is intended for indoor use only.
Do not use outside.

Selecting the disinfection time based on the size of the room. You will see a bigger and
a smaller number near each of the light indicators. Bigger number represents the size of the
room in square meters, while smaller number shows the disinfection duration in minutes that
will be needed for the selected size of the room.
Rotate the button and select the size of the room you wish to disinfect: from 5 m² to 60 m².
Red light indicators around the button will show the selected room size and disinfection time.
Touch and hold the button. Light indicators around the button will light up in a sequence
and the lamp will make a beep. Green LED indicator will light up on the right side of the main
interface. Lamp is now ready to be configured.
2. STARTING THE DESINFECTION

7
Note:
If the Bacteo Towers detects a fault within the UV-C lamp or internal electronics, the
disinfection process will not initiate, or it will stop immediately if in progress. The device will
continuously beep and orange LED indicator will blink to inform the user of malfunction.
You can abort the disinfection process by pressing or rotating the button, as well as by
movement.
10s
Beginning the disinfection. After you have selected the size/duration, get ready to initiate
the disinfection process and immediately leave the room. You will have 10 seconds to leave
the room - but don‘t worry, the lamp will not start the disinfection process as long as there is
movement in the room.
When you are ready, press the button again and immediately start leaving the room.
Orange LED indicator will start blinking and the lamp will continuously beep. After 10
seconds, disinfection process will begin if no movement is detected in the room.

8
Bacteo Tower has a 360° motion detection sensor for extra safety. When disinfection is in
progress, any motion in proximity of the lamp will stop the disinfection process - the lamp will
begin to continuously beep and orange LED indicator will blink. If no motion will be detected
after 10 seconds, the lamp will light up and disinfection process will resume.
The effective distance of motion detection is up to 5 meters from the lamp, but the
effectiveness can be reduced by obstacles between the lamp and the moving objects (sofas,
tables, etc.).
Note:
If Bacteo Tower detects a malfunction with the motion sensor, the disinfection process will not
initiate, or it will stop immediately if in progress. The device will continuously beep and red
LED indicator will blink to inform the user of malfunction.
4. MOTION DETECTION AND PERSONAL SAFETY
Note:
Bacteo is 100% ozone-free, and it will not generate any ozone (which is toxic to your health).
You might smell an odor after the disinfection process, but don’t worry – it’s not ozone. It is a
smell of dust and other small organic particles killed during the disinfection – so we
recommend ventilating the room after the disinfection is finished.
When the disinfection process is complete, lamp will emit a long beep and go into the
standby mode. Green LED indicator will light up on the right side of the main interface.
You can now turn off the lamp or move it to another part of the room by gripping the metal top
of the lamp.
3. ENDING THE DESINFECTION

Disinfection Nr 2
There are few additional things to know that will help you get the best out of your Bacteo
Tower, as well as ensure safe usage.
Effective UV-C disinfection
Only objects that are directly illuminated by the lamp are disinfected. If there are obstacles
between the lamp and the objects you wish to disinfect, disinfection efficiency may be
reduced. Place the Bacteo Tower on a flat, level surface for most effective UV-C disinfection.
Disinfection time should be increased:
• If unit is operated in environment prone to germs or viruses.
• Unit is operated in damp areas of your home (e.g. bathroom).
• Room temperature is below 20°C (68°F) or above 20°C (104°F).
Disinfecting irregularly shaped rooms.
If the room has a non-square shape (for example – rectangular) it is better to do multiple
shorter disinfection sessions rather than one session:
• Divide the room into square parts, and disinfect each part separately;
• Put the lamp in the middle of the first square and run the disinfection process in
relation to approximate size of that square;
• Repeat the process for each part (square).
BEST PRACTICES FOR EFFECTIVE DESINFECTION AND SAFETY

Motion detection
If you are disinfecting a room with walls consisting of glass, drywall or thin plywood – motion
sensor may detect movement though such walls and stop the disinfection process. If you are
disinfecting a room with windows that are not covered with curtains, motion sensor may
detect movement outside of the window (tree movement from wind, birds, etc.).
Motion detection may not be effective if the are obstacles between the Bacteo Tower and the
moving object. Place the Bacteo Tower on a flat, level surface for most effective motion
detection.
Operate the Bacteo Tower with common sense and following the manual – even though it will
stop the disinfection process if movement nearby the lamp, it is highly unrecommended to
enter the room while the disinfection is in progress.
Changing the UV-C lamp
Bacteo Tower is only compatible with Philips TUV PL-L 95W/4P HO 1CT/25 lamp. DO NOT
use any substitutes or non-original lamps, as it may cause damage to the unit, as well as
shock or fire hazard.
To remove the lamp from the Bacteo Tower:
1. Remove the plastic top cover of the lamp.
2. Simultaneously press the 2 metal pins on the bottom plastic part of the UV-C lamp itself.
3. Then, carefully lift the lamp out of its housing. Dispose of the lamp according to safety
instructions.

F.A.Q.
1. Does it kill molds and yeasts?
It does, but it would take a much longer exposure time and dose. We do not
recommend using Bacteo for that purpose, as traditional means of cleaning mold and
yeasts would be much more effective.
2. How long should I wait after the disinfection is finished before I can enter the
room?
You can enter the room straight away. Bacteo doesn’t generate ozone, so it’s safe to
enter the room after the disinfection process is complete.
3. I’ve been exposed to UV-C lightning by accident. What should I do?
If it’s just a short exposure of few seconds – you won’t need to do anything unless you
feel negative effects like itching skin or pain in the eyes. If it was a long exposure – you
should seek medical assistance immediately.
4. Should I close the windows and blinds before disinfecting the room?
Yes, definitely. Bacteo is for indoor use only, so please close all windows and shut the
blinds.
5. Is UV-C radiation harmful to other electronics such as TV or a computer?
No, not at all. It’s harmful only to the living organisms.
6. The motion detection sensor is constantly turning the lamp off, even though the
room is free of animals and people.
If the motion detection sensor is constantly detecting movement even though there’s
none, please do the following:
• Check if the windows are closed by blinds. Movement outside (tree branches,
birds) can be the reason of motion detection.
• If the walls are made of glass, drywall or thin plywood – motion sensor may detect
movement though such walls and stop the disinfection process.
• If none of the above factors are present – it could mean a malfunction with the
sensor. Please contact us at www.bacteo.com/support for further help.
