Safety precautions
Before using the product, thoroughly read this manual to use the product correctly. The precautions
described in this manual must be followed to ensure safe use of this product and prevent hazards to
you and other people, as well as damage to the product and your home or property.
This product is designed for household and indoor use only.
In this manual, damages and injuries caused by incorrect usage are presented with
their classications. Please read these instructions carefully before using this product
and save this manual for future use.
WARNING Indicates “actions that could result in serious injury or death”.
CAUTION Indicates “actions that could result in minor injury or cause damage
to a building or furniture”.
The contents to be observed during use are explained with the following graphic
symbols.

Installation
Do not use a broken power plug.
Doing so may cause electric shock or
cause re due to heat.
Do not replace the power cord
by yourself.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must
be replaced by the manufacturer, its
service agent (BALMUDA Support →
P.29) or similary qualied persons in
order to avoid a hazard.
Failing to do so may cause burns and
other injuries, electric shock, re, or
malfunction.
Do not connect the product with
an external timer or separate
remote-control system.
Connection with such products is not
intended.
This appliance is not intended
for use by persons (including
children) with reduced physical,
sensory, or mental capabilities,
or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless they have
been given supervision or
instruction concerning use
of the appliance by a person
responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to
ensure that they do not play with the
appliance.
Clean inside the toaster
periodically.
Cooking with remnants of food or oil
remaining may cause uneven toasting,
smoke, or re. Refer to P.23 for how
to clean surfaces in contact with food.

the main unit. Do not place any

Doing so may cause re or deformation.
Do not insert any metallic or
foreign object into the air inlets
and outlets.
Doing so may cause electric shock or
malfunction.
Do not place the 5 cc cup or
other accessories on the top,
sides, rear, or inside of the main
unit, or the clearance around the
main unit.
Doing so may cause re.
Do not place the product in
a location subjected to heat,
such as near a cooking stove or
microwave oven.
Doing so may cause re.
Place the product in a horizontal
and stable location.
Placing the product in an unstable
location may cause the following: the
door may open while the product is
operating;
water may spill, causing electric shock;
or the main unit may fall over.
Place the product so that there is a
space between the main unit and
its surroundings as shown in the
gure below. If the wall is made
of material that is easily damaged
by heat, such as plastics, place
the product so that there is more
space around the product.
Otherwise, heat and steam may
accumulate, causing re, malfunction,
discoloration, or deformation.

Power cord
Do not disconnect or insert the
power plug with a wet hand.
Doing so may cause electric shock.
Do not use the product while the
power cord is under strain.
Do not do any of the following, as this
may cause the power cord to overheat
and catch re:
Scratch, modify, bend, pull, step
on, or twist the cord or place it near
heating devices. Do not place heavy
items on the cord, or use it while it is
bundled.
Use a dedicated outlet with a
rated current of 6.2 A or more at
220 V AC.
Using an outlet that does not meet the
rating or sharing an outlet with other
appliances may cause re due to heat.
Insert the power plug fully into
the outlet.
If the power plug is inserted incorrectly,
it may cause electric shock or cause
re due to heat.
To disconnect the power cord,
hold the power plug, not the
power cord, and pull it out.
Failing to do so may cause electric
shock or re due to short circuit.
Usage
Do not disassemble, repair, or
modify the product.
Doing so may cause re or malfunction.
Please contact BALMUDA Support
(P.29) for repair.
Do not clean the main unit with
water. Do not cover or splash the
product with water. Do not use
the product outdoors.
Doing so may cause electric shock,
re, or malfunction.
Do not use the product outside
Singapore and Malaysia.
Doing so may cause re or malfunction.
Do not use the product for
purposes other than those
recommended in this Instruction
Manual and by BALMUDA.
Doing so may cause re or electric
shock.
Do not splash terminal parts,
such as the power plug, with
liquid.
Doing so may cause re or malfunction.
Do not carry or incline the main
unit while water remains in the
boiler section.
Water may spill, causing burns or
electric shock.
To check whether water is in the boiler
section, wait for the main unit to cool
down and then remove the boiler cover.
If water remains, wipe it o with a dry
cloth.

Stop using the product
immediately if an abnormality or
malfunction occurs.
Failing to do so may cause injury,
electric shock, or re. Stop use of
the product and contact BALMUDA
Support (P.29).
Examples of abnormalities and
malfunctions:
•the power cord or the power plug is
abnormally hot,
•the main unit is deformed or
abnormally hot,
•the power cord is damaged or
stops conducting electricity after it is
touched,
•the main unit is generating heat when
it is not operated,
•water leaks occur from the main unit
or the boiler tray,
•a heater tube or the door glass
cracked,
•or the main unit was dropped or fell
over.
Disconnect the power plug from
the outlet after cooking or when
the product is not in use.
Failing to do so may cause electric
shock or re.
Store the 5 cc cup and other
accessories in a location that is
out of reach of children.
If an infant or child accidentally
swallowed the 5 cc cup, it may cause
suocation.

Cooking
Do not pour any liquid other than
tap water into the water inlet and
the boiler tray.
Pouring oil, seasoning, or other
ingredients into the water inlet or the
boiler tray may cause re or electric
shock.
Do not pour more than one 5 cc
cup of water into the water inlet.
Do not try to rell water.
Do not pour water into any
locations other than the water
inlet. Do not use any measures
other than the 5 cc cup.
Water may spill, causing burns,
electric shock, or malfunction. Refer to
“Cooking” (P.16) as well.
If smoke or re occurs during
cooking, do not pour water onto
the product. Do not open the
door until the re is extinguished
by itself.
Doing so may break the glass or
spread the re.
Press the power ON/OFF button to turn
the power “OFF”, and then disconnect
the power cord.
Do not use parchment paper,
baking sheets, or paper pans for
baking cakes.
Doing so may cause re.
Limit the thickness of food to
less than 5.5 cm.
Failing to do so may cause re.
To prevent food from touching the
upper heater tube, slice any loaf of
bread that has a thickness of 5.5 cm
or more, and do not put too many
toppings on a thick slice of bread or
the like.
Always place a heat-resistant
dish or a sheet of aluminum foil
when cooking food that contains
oil or drops easily through the
toasting rack, such as butter,
jam, cheese, meat, sh, and
deep-fried food.
Food or oil may drop on the heater
tube, catching re. Always put food on
a heat-resistant dish or place a sheet of
aluminum foil.
Maintenance
Before performing maintenance
for the main unit or moving the
unit, disconnect the power plug,
wait for the unit to cool down
suciently, and wipe o water in
the boiler tray with a dry cloth.
Failing to do so may cause burns and
other injuries, or electric shock.
Perform maintenance every time
after using the product.
Remnants in the crumb catcher may
be charred and catch re.
Refer to “Maintenance to be performed
every time after use” (P.22) to perform
the maintenance correctly.
Clean the power plug
periodically.
Accumulation of dust on the power
plug may cause re. Disconnect the
power plug from the outlet and wipe
the plug with a dry cloth.
Before performing maintenance,
be sure to disconnect the power
plug from the outlet and wait
for the main unit to cool down
suciently.
Failing to do so may cause burns or
electric shock.

CAUTION
Installation
Do not put the main unit on top
of another appliance, such as
a microwave oven. Do not put
other appliances on top of the
product.
Doing so may cause a failure or
malfunction.
Usage
Do not splash water over or
apply excessive force to the
glass of the door.
The glass may be broken, causing
injury.
Do not put the water supply
cover between the door and the
main unit.
Doing so may cause re or malfunction.
When not in use, do not place
any object in the main unit other
than the toasting rack and the
boiler cover.
Doing so may cause malfunction.
Do not use the product as
something for children to play
with.
Doing so may cause burns and other
injuries, or electric shock.

Cooking
Do not leave the main unit
unattended during cooking.
Doing so may cause re. When leaving
the main unit unattended, be sure to
press the power ON/OFF button to turn
the power “OFF”.
In particular, watch for completion of
cooking while preparing rice cakes or
oily food.
During and immediately after
cooking, do not touch any places
on the unit other than the handle
or the dials.
The unit is heated to a high temperature
and may cause burns.
In addition, the handle may also be
heated to a high temperature when the
product is continuously operated for
a long time or when cooking certain
types of food. In such a case, use a
mitten or the like to open the door.
Do not cook food for a time
longer than necessary.
The food being cooked may catch re.
In modes other than the Classic mode,
follow the cooking time indicated in the
Instruction Manual or on the product.
In the Classic mode, check the state of
food while cooking.
Do not use the product with the
door open.
Steam may be discharged from the
boiler section, causing burns.
Do not heat canned or bottled
food directly.
Bursting or deformation may occur,
causing burns and other injuries.
During cooking, do not try to rell
the boiler section with water.
Doing so may cause burns.
Do not stare at the heater tubes
(upper and lower) for too long.
Doing so may damage your eyes.
Use a pair of tongs or mitten to
remove food or dishes from the
inside of the unit.
Failing to do so may cause burns.
When removing food, be sure to
press the power ON/OFF button
to turn the power “OFF”.
Failing to do so may cause burns.
Always install the crumb catcher,
toasting rack, and boiler cover
before cooking.
Failing to do so may cause burns, re,
or malfunction.
Maintenance
Wear heavy gloves when
performing maintenance.
Failing to do so may cause injury to
hands or ngers.

Using the product for the rst time
Take care with the power consumption
Be careful when the product is used
simultaneously with other electrical appliances,
because the breaker may trip.
The product operates with 6.2 A (1,420 W).

When using the product for the rst time, you rst need to remove the xing tape, before attaching and
installing the parts according to the procedure below.
Remove the xing tape.
There is one tape, attached to the location shown below.

Do not use the product with the xing tape attached.
Doing so may cause re.
Check that the boiler cover is installed correctly.
• Open the door and conrm that the boiler cover is placed on the correct position.
• If the boiler cover is not placed correctly, put the cover on the boiler tray.
• Place the boiler cover between the guides on both sides.

Since the boiler cover can easily be deformed, be careful not to hit or drop it.
If a deformed cover is used, it may touch the toasting rack, causing re or malfunction.

Install the toasting rack.
Place the two rack hooks on the rear of the toasting rack on the shaft at the back inside the
unit.
The door may open rapidly if the toasting rack is not installed.
Be sure to slowly open the door completely while holding the handle.
Notes:
• Be sure to conrm that the boiler cover is placed on the correct position before installing the
toasting rack.
• The toasting rack has a front and back orientation. The front has the legs, while the back has
the rack hooks.
• Installing the toasting rack in an incorrect position may cause uneven toasting and other
issues.

While drawing the toasting rack toward the front, place the legs on the two hooks inside the
door.
Note: Conrm that the toasting rack is rmly placed on the shaft and the door hooks.

Check that the crumb catcher is installed correctly.
The crumb catcher should be installed as shown in the gure.

If the crumb catcher is misaligned or detached, correctly insert the tray in the direction shown

Place the main unit.
Place the main unit so that there is a space between the unit and its surroundings as shown in

When placing the main unit, take care with the following points.
Otherwise, heat and steam may accumulate, causing re, malfunction, discoloration,
or deformation.
• Do not place the 5 cc cup or other accessories on the top, sides, rear, or inside of
the main unit, or the clearance around the main unit.
• Do not place the main unit in a location subjected to heat.
• Place the main unit on a horizontal and stable surface.
• As shown in the gure above, place the main unit so that there is a space around
the unit. If the wall is made of material that is easily damaged by heat, such as
plastics, place the product so that there is more space around the product.
• Do not put the main unit on top of another appliance, such as a microwave oven.
Do not put other appliances on top of the main unit.
Insert the power plug into the household outlet.
This completes the installation.

• Always ensure you select the correct mode. Selecting an inappropriate mode may cause food to
catch re.
• If you want to warm up the bread further, reheat the bread at 170°C (Classic mode) for a desired
time.
• If you want to brown the bread further, reheat the bread at 250°C (Classic mode) until a desired
browning is achieved.
• Do not leave the main unit unattended during cooking. Always pay attention until cooking is nished.
Overheating may cause food to catch re.

Dial for setting the cooking time.
• The cooking time can be selected from the following:
1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, or 15 minutes
• When the cooking time is set, the timer indicator lights up in orange and you hear a “bi-bing” sound.
• The remaining time is displayed as the timer indicator blinks.
■Power ON/OFF button
Use this button to turn “ON/OFF” the power of the main unit.
• The power is “OFF” immediately after the power plug is inserted into the household outlet. Pressing
the power ON/OFF button switches “ON” the power. When the power is “ON”, pressing the power
ON/OFF button switches “OFF” the power.
• When the power is turned “ON”, the timer indicator lights up and you hear a “bing” sound.
• When the power is turned “OFF”, the timer indicator is turned OFF and you hear a “bing” sound.
• When the power is “ON”, the power is automatically turned “OFF” if no operation is performed for 30
seconds.
• When cooking is completed, the power is automatically turned “OFF”.

• Limit the thickness of food to 5.5 cm or less. The height of food on the toasting rack must be
lower than the guideline.
• Place food on the middle of the toasting rack. Completion of cooking may vary between the
middle and the left/right edges of the rack.
• Align the center of food with A so that the food is not placed too close to either the front or
back.
• Use a pair of tongs or mitten to place food or dishes.

• Be careful with rice cakes and food with a large amount of toppings because they may
expand during cooking.
• When using a heat-resistant dish, ensure to use one that is oven safe and the size is
appropriate to t in the toaster.
• When cooking in the Classic mode, continue to procedure .
To toast a slice of bread successfully
A slice of bread has its “head” and “bottom”. The head of round top bread
is the round top. The head of rectangular bread is the top surface while the
bread is in the package. If you put this “head” to the front, you can toast the
bread evenly.

Pour water into the 5 cc cup.
• Boil water to create steam, and use the steam together with the heat from the heater tubes
to warm up food.
• The amount of water depends on the cooking mode and time. Refer to the table below.

Turn the mode selection dial to select one of the cooking
modes.
When the mode selection dial is turned, you hear a short beep.
For details of the cooking modes, check with “Mode selection dial” (P.13) or the separate
Guide Book.

Turn the timer dial to set the cooking time.
When you turn the timer dial, the timer indicator lights up in orange.
When the dial is released, you hear a “bi-bing” sound and the cooking is started.
You can check the remaining time as the timer indicator blinks.
