BEOLINK VIDEO

BEFORE YOU START…
BeoLink system
The BeoLink distribution system
enables you to control any
source in your main system and
to see and hear it in the link
room. Of course, you can still
use your extra TV quite inde-
pendently of the TV in your
main system.
Your link room must be con-
nected to the main room via a
special (BeoLink/ML) cable. To
join the BeoLink cable from the
main system and the cable from
the BeoLink Video box you will
need a junction box. Further-
more, in order to complete your
installation, you will need an
ordinary aerial cable and the
appropriate plugs.
These accessories can be pur-
chased at your Bang & Olufsen
dealer.
Setting-up guide
This guide describes how to in-
stall your BeoLink Video kit in
a BeoLink distribution system.
This kit enables you to connect
and use a Beovision TV (of a
model with no BeoLink connec-
tion) as an extra TV in such a
system.
If you have never carried out
cable installations before, we
suggest you leave it to your
Bang & Olufsen dealer. Like-
wise, we recommend that you
follow the instructions in this
guide carefully.
The User’s guide, which is
also supplied with the BeoLink
Video kit, describes how to
operate your link system once
it has been installed.
When you set up your BeoLink
Video kit, we recommend the
following sequence:
1 Switch off all products and
disconnect from the mains.
2 Make your installation.
3 Connect all products to the
mains.
4 Carry out the programmings.
The following Beovision TV
models can be used as an extra
TV in the link room:
• Beovision MX 7000/6000/
4000 and LX 6000/5000/5500/
4500
• Beovision MX 5500/3500 and
LX 5000/4000
• Beovision MX 5000/4500 and
MX 3000
• Beovision LX 2802/2502 and
LX 2800/2500
Depending on age, your extra
TV may need modification in
order for the setup to function
optimally (please contact your
Bang & Olufsen dealer).

The main room is the room in
which you have placed your
audio system and/or video sys-
tem (the main system).
The link room is where you
place your extra TV (connected
to the main system through
the BeoLink installation).
Note:
Building and electrical codes
vary from locality to locality.
Make sure that the installation
is in compliance with applicable
codes. Bang & Olufsen shall not
be legally responsible for injury
or damage caused by improper
installation.

CONNECTIONS
Connect your BeoLink Video
box as follows:
In the link room: Using a Beo-
Link cable, connect the flat
multi-pin plug to the socket
marked MASTER LINK on the
BeoLink Video box, and run
the cable to the BeoLink
junction box.
Using an Audio Aux Link ca-
ble (7-pin DIN), connect one
plug to the socket marked
AUDIO AUX LINK on the Beo-
Link Video box and the other
to the socket, marked AUDIO
AUX LINK (or LINE) on your
extra TV.
In the main room: Using a Beo-
Link cable, connect the flat
multi-pin plug to the socket
marked MASTER LINK on the
main system, and run the
cable to the BeoLink junction
box.
Inside the junction box: Join
the cables as explained in
the documentation enclosed
with the box. This document
contains information of the
many possibilities of the box
and how to join the cables.
Aerial connection
In order to enable distribution
of video signals from the main
system to the extra TV, you will
have to run an aerial connec-
tion between the two rooms.
Using an ordinary TV aerial
cable (coax-cable) connect one
end to the socket marked RF
OUT on the main TV and the
other end to the aerial socket
on the extra TV.
Placement
The BeoLink Video box must be
placed in a dry place, i.e. not
outdoors (the cables, however,
may very well be run outdoors).
Once connected the box should
be fastened to the wall – e.g.
concealed behind the extra TV.
NOTE! Disconnect your entire
Bang & Olufsen system from
the mains while you make the
connections!

NOTE! Cables should always be
handled with great care. When
running the cables, avoid bend-

Before you start using the sys-
tem, a few steps related to your
particular setup must be carried
out.
Programming the AV setup
Your extra TV requires program-
ming of the AV setup in order
to react properly when operat-
ed via the remote control.
Find your TV in the chart on
this page, and program the AV
setup as explained (the factory
setting of the TV is Option 1.
To program the TV back again,
just follow the instructions,
but press 1 instead – or select
TV: OPTION 1).
The programming is done
with the remote control, and
with the main system switched
to stand-by! Video transmission frequency
When, from the link room, you
start a video source using the
remote control, e.g. SAT or
V.TAPE, your extra TV automa-
tically switches to the correct
program number (as indicated
in the chart on the next page),
and you will be able to watch
the main video source on the
extra TV.
If your main video system is
built around a Beovision MX/
LX of the above mentioned
models and a Bang & Olufsen
video tape recorder, your ex-
tra TV is factory preset to the
video transmission frequencies
of the main system.
However, if your TV in the main
room is of a model with a built-
in system modulator (e.g. a Beo-
Vision Avant), which transmits
the signals from the main video
sources on one frequency, find
your extra TV in the chart on
the next page and follow the
instructions.
