5.3 Bedienung
Before first use
•Wash the unit before first use (6.2 „Cleaning“).
•Connect the unit to a single grounded outlet.
•The green standby control light will come on. The fan will come on and operate
constantly.
Temperature regulation
•The temperature is factory set to -18°C. It can be adjusted according to requirements.
•The temperature is regulated using a 5-level temperature dial.
When set to „O“ the compressor will turn off. The unit is still connected to its
power source.
When the temperature dial is turned clockwise, the temperature will fall.
The lowest temperature (deepest freezing) can be reached by setting the
temperature dial to „5“.
•When the door is closed, the temperature can be viewed on the temperature indicator.
NOTE!
First, set the temperature dial to „3“, then if the unit cools too strongly, set to „1-3“;
if it does not cool strongly enough, set to „3-5“.
•During first use and before placing food products inside the unit, wait for the deep
freezer to reach the desired temperature. This usually takes around 2 to 3 hours.
Freezing food products
•When freezing fresh foods, set the unit to rapid-freeze mode: turn the temperature
dial to the position market
„S“
. The yellow rapid-freeze indicator will come on.
The compressor will function in this mode without interruption.
•Rapid-freeze shelves are marked with the symbol .
•Place the products for deep freezing on the rapid-freeze shelves and close the
shelves and deep freezer.
•After 24 hours, remove the frozen food products from the rapid-freeze shelves and
place them into the drawer below.
•Set the temperature dial to its initial position. The yellow rapid-freeze indicator light
will go off.

- 36 -
CAUTION!
Rapid-freeze mode will not shut off automatically.
The unit can not be left to function in rapid-freeze mode for longer than 3 days, or
damage to the compressor may result!
CAUTION!
Do not exceed a maximum of 24 kg of frozen products per 24 hours.
•Keep a minimum distance of 2.5 mm between frozen
food products (dia. 6).
Food products that are to be frozen should not be touching
food products that have already been frozen.
•Freeze only appropriate food products that are suitable
for low temperatures.
•Freeze only fresh foods.
•Use appropriate storage materials and properly pack the product. The packaging
cannot let out air and humidity, as this may cause the product to dry out. Foils and
bags must be soft and elastic so that they stick tightly to their contents. Do not place
unpacked food products into the deep freezer.
•Do not store glass bottles containing liquids. Liquids expand after freezing and the
bottles may burst.
•Remember to never re-freeze products that have thawed out or started to thaw out.
Thawed products should be prepared and consumed within max. 24 hours.
•Follow the producer’s instructions for freezing a given food product.
•It is best to freeze and thaw out small portions. This ensures quick, even freezing
and thawing. On the packing, write the contents and date of freezing.
•When freezing larger quantities of fresh foods the unit’s temperature may rise for a
short time. This has no effect on products already frozen and stored.
•Do not open the unit’s door during the freezing process.
NOTE!
To avoid using excess energy, use proper temperature settings.
•In case of an interruption in the power supply, do not open the unit’s door. This will
delay the rise in the unit’s internal temperature.
dia. 6

- 37 -
Storage of frozen food products
•Follow the instructions found on the packaging for food products. If there is no such
information, store frozen food products for a maximum of 3 months from the date of
purchase.
•Follow these rules for storage of frozen fresh foods:
fish and sausage: not longer than 6 months;
cheese, poultry, pork, veal: not longer than 8 months;
beef, fruits and vegetables: not longer than 12 months.
•Factory-frozen food product packaging should contain information on the time and
temperature of storage. Follow the producer’s instructions for the storage and
preparation of such food products,
•Select only appropriately-packaged food products with complete information, kept in
freezers at a minimum temperature of -18°C.
•When purchasing deep-frozen food products, transport them in appropriate containers
to avoid thawing out. Place them as quickly as possible into another freezer.
•Do not purchase food products covered in frost, as such products have already thawed
out several times.
•Protect food products from thawing out or beginning to thaw out, as increases in
temperature shortens storage times and reduces the products’ quality.
•Partially or fully-thawed out products should be consumed immediately.
Low temperatures preserve food products, but microorganisms are not killed. They
quickly reactivate, and the food products spoil rapidly. Partial thawing reduces the
nutritional value of food products, especially of fruits, vegetables and prepared meals.
•If the packaging is damaged or artificially inflated, it is very possible that the products
inside have been improperly stored and are spoiled.
Making ice cubes
•Ice cubes can be made using the ice cube tray. Fill each square to ¾ with potable
water.
•Place the ice cube tray on one of the rapid-freeze shelves.
•Leave the ice cubes at room temperature for approx. 5 minutes and place them into an
ice cube container.

- 38 -
Defrosting
•Defrost the unit at least two times per year, to avoid the layer of ice exceeding 5 mm.
CAUTION!
Before defrosting, disconnect the unit from its power supply by removing the plug
from its socket.
•Remove all food products from the unit. They will not thaw out if covered with a thick
blanket and kept in a cool place.
•
Remove the lower shield (dia. 7).
•
Place an appropriately large container under the unit in
order to gather water formed from the melting ice.
•Wait 10 - 20 minutes and remove the plug located in
the middle of the unit’s base to allow the water formed
from melting ice to flow out of the unit.
•Leave the unit’s door open while defrosting.
Dia. 7
CAUTION!
Do not use any sharp tools or other instruments to remove ice!
•After the ice has melted, wipe the interior of the unit dry with a soft cloth.
•Close the door and turn the unit on, leaving it to reach the desired temperature
before replacing the frozen food products inside.
•In case of a sudden power failure, open the door as rarely as possible to avoid loss
of cold air.
•After a power failure or after removing the plug from its socket, do not reconnect the
deep freezer for at least 15 minutes to a power source.
•Disconnect the unit if it is not to be used (turn the temperature dial to „0“ and remove
the plug from its socket). Defrost the unit following the instructions given above.
•If the unit will be left unused for a longer time, leave the door open.
