New Product - Preliminary Specifications:
The ZV18 is an extended low-frequency loudspeaker that redefines the
capabilities of portable, single 18-inch subwoofers. The ZV18 will change
your perspective on what is possible from a single 18” sub.
It will produce the notes and effects that are totally lost on ordinary
subwoofers. It offers a way to reveal elements of music that make
it more real, bigger, more powerful, emotional and involving.
Based on the ground-breaking ZV28 subwoofer design, the ZV18 will
reproduce the lowest of low bass frequencies. It combines the
performance of the ZV28 with the BASSBOSS high-power single-18" sub
designs perfect for mobile applications. After many requests for a smaller
version of the ZV28, we shrank the cabinet, but not the performance or
frequency range, offering unheard of lower frequency response in a
single 18" cabinet.
A single ZV18 is capable of reproducing frequencies as low as 24Hz.
ultiple boxes will allow for low-frequency extension to 20Hz.
The unprocessed frequency response of the ZV18 is 23Hz to 180Hz,
+-3dB. The low-pass filter is adjustable from 68 to 80Hz, thus with the
high-pass and low-pass filters engaged, the operational frequency
response is +-3dB from 24Hz to 68Hz through 80Hz (adjustable.) The
measured maximum continuous output of the loudspeaker is 127dB,
which puts peak output at 133dB.
The ZV18 features a single 18-inch diameter woofer that has a
4.5-inch diameter voice coil and is rated to handle 1700W R S and
3400W program power. The ZV18 also features a 2400W R S
high-current amplifier along with a comprehensive DSP package that
incorporates high-pass filters, low-pass filers and a full complement of
protections to allow the system to operate at maximum output levels for
extended periods.
The amplifier on the ZV18 is recessed into the back of the cabinet. This
protects the connectors and controls from damage should something be
bumped into the cabinet or if the cabinet is pushed into a wall or set on
its back, even with the cables still connected. The recess also helps to
reduce the exposure of the amplifier to moisture from spills or light rain.
There are 4 large ports to maximize low-frequency performance.
The ports are deliberately not covered by the speaker grill so as to
prevent air-flow noise that can be caused by air being forced through the
grill. The port openings and amplifier recess also offer grab points on the
front and rear of the cabinet. The port walls, handles and amplifier recess
are all designed to serve as braces in addition to their primary purposes,
making the cabinet extremely rigid.
The cabinet features a pole-socket to allow a mid-high or full-range
speaker to be supported on a pole above the subwoofer. There are 2
large handles on each side of the box. The handles are backed by a
large common chamber to allow for cable storage when the cabinet is in
transit. The handles are centered on the mass of the cabinet, slightly
forward of the physical center of the cabinet. The handles on each side
are placed and shaped to allow the cabinet to be lifted and carried by two
hands when horizontal or by one hand when vertical.
It's made in the USA from premium 18mm Baltic Birch. The ZV18 cabinet
measures 29.5 inches wide by 24 inches high by 36 inches deep. The
sub features four large rubber feet on the bottom and four matching
recesses on the top of the cabinet for secure stacking of multiple boxes
while in use or in transport. The feet also fit into matching recesses on
the available transport cart, ensuring the loudspeaker stays on the cart
when rolling into and out of venues.

SAFETY INFORMATION
Important information regarding safety and the use of your loudspeakers:
Never stand in the immediate vicinity of loudspeakers driven at a high level. Professional loudspeaker systems are
capable of causing a sound pressure level detrimental to human health. eemingly non-critical sound levels (from approx.
95 dB PL) can cause hearing damage if people are exposed to it over a long period.To prevent potentially dangerous
exposure to high levels of acoustic pressure, anyone who is exposed to these levels should use adequate protection
devices.
When a transducer capable of producing high sound levels is being used, it is therefore necessary to wear ear plugs
or protective earphones.

In order to prevent accidents when setting up the loudspeakers or loudspeaker stands, make sure they are standing on
a firm surface.
Ensure that all additional hardware, fixings and fasteners used for installation or mobile deployment are of an appropriate
size and load safety factor.
Pay attention to the manufacturers' instructions and to the relevant safety guidelines.
Regularly check the loudspeaker housings and accessories for visible signs of wear and tear, and replace them
when necessary.
Regularly check all load bearing bolts in the mounting devices.
Caution: Loudspeakers produce a static magnetic field even if they are not connected or are not in use. Therefore make
sure when erecting and transporting loudspeakers that they are nowhere near equipment and objects which may be
impaired or damaged by an external magnetic field.A distance of 3 feet (1m) should be maintained between loudspeakers
and sensitive equipment such as CRT monitors or magnetic storage media.
Never attempt to carry out any operations, modifications or repairs that are not expressly described in this manual.
Contact BA BO support or your BA BO dealer if the product is not functioning properly.
BA BO strongly recommends this product be installed by a qualified, professional installer who can ensure correct
installation and certify that is is installed in compliance with the regulations in force.
The entire audio system must comply with the current local standards and regulations regarding electrical systems.
IMPORTANT NOTES
To prevent the occurrence of noise on signal cables, use shielded cables only. Avoid routing signal cables close to
equipment that produces high-intensity electromagnetic fields such as transformers, power cables and loudspeaker
wires. Do not coil excess power cable. Do not coil or wrap power cables and signal cables together.

SET UP INSTRUCTIONS
1. Place loudspeaker in the desired location. Ensure that it is secure and stable.
2. Rotate the input attenuator knob counterclockwise to the lowest setting.
3. Connect signal from the sound source (mixer) via the XLR female input jack.
4. Connect the XLR male output to the next available loudspeaker input via an XLR cable (if applicable.)
This is a full-range pass-through connection and no processing is applied to this output.
5. Connect the Neutrik PowerCON (blue) connector to the blue power inlet socket. Do not force. To insert,
align the indexing tabs on the connectors, insert the plug fully into the socket and rotate clockwise until
the latches catch. To remove, pull back on the latch tab and rotate the connector counterclockwise to
the index stop, then pull outwards.
6. The white PowerCON connector is used to daisy-chain mains power to a second amplified loudspeaker.
The total current draw of all loudspeakers connected through a single PowerCON must not exceed 20A.
Make all PowerCON connections before plugging in to mains power.
7. Connect the electrical plug to a power source.
8. Move the POWER switch to the ON position.
9. Move the Standby* switch to the ON position (if applicable)
10. Rotate the input attenuator clockwise to achieve the desired sound level.
Standby Switch: (Installation Addendum)
3-position switch that allows selection between ON, AUTO and 12V Trigger when the mains POWER switch is ON
and power is connected to the amplifier. This feature is enabled primarily for installations where remote powering
is desired. It is disabled for portable applications. Many portable products will not have this feature. If you use your
amplifier for portable applications and this feature is available, leave the switch in the ON position.
In ON position, amplifier remains on when the POWER switch is on. In AUTO position, the amplifier will switch to
Standby mode when no signal is present and will power on when it senses incoming signal. In OFF/12V position, the
amplifier will remain OFF until a 12V trigger signal is applied to the trigger inputs.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If, after following the above instructions for setup, you have no output from the loudspeakers, please check the following:
Verify that the green power (ON) LED is lit. If not, check the following:
1. Is the power cord plugged into a live outlet?
2. Is the Neutrik PowerCON connector rotated into the locked position?
3. Is the Standby Switch in the ON position?
If the green power LED is on, check the following:
1. Is the signal cable connected to the input?
2. Is the signal cable connected to an operating output at the other end?
3. Is the signal flowing to the input? Check the integrity of the cable.
4. Is the attenuator turned all the way down or at a very low level?
5. Is the signal flowing to the input full-range? Filters in the signal may remove the operating
frequencies of the loudspeaker receiving them.

OPERATION
There are 4 control knobs on the amplifier.
1: GAIN
Provides attenuation of the input from off to full output. Use appropriate gain structure to ensure the output
feeding the subwoofer doesn't reach clipping and distortion before maximum desired sound level is achieved.
The amplifier has a complement of limiters and safeties to protect itself and the driver however if audible distortion
occurs, lower the level of the incoming signal.
2: LF AD UST
Provides from 0 to 6dB of boost centered at 80Hz to increase "Punch". Particularly useful when the SSP118 is used
with smaller tops that lack impact in the region of transition between the top and the sub.
3: CROSSOVER
Provides adjustment of the low-pass filter frequency from 68Hz (when fully counterclockwise) to 80Hz (when fully
clockwise) in 12 steps. The effective crossover frequency between two loudspeakers is effected by gain. A lower filter
frequency should be used when a higher gain is used on the subwoofer relative to the top cabinet. The low filter
frequencies available on the SSP118 subwoofer are provided with the expectation that the gain of the subwoofer(s)
will be higher than the gain of the top boxes and that the effective crossover frequency will be shifted upwards.
This is intended to prevent the "boominess" that occurs with excessive output at overlapping frequencies.
4: DELAY
Provides delay adjustment from 0 ms to 2 ms. Use at 0 ms when tops are mounted directly above the subwoofer.
When subs are ahead of the top, when the top is mounted far above the sub or when subs are located centered with
the tops on the left and right, use the delay to compensate for the offset. Be sure to match the delay settings when
boxes are adjacent to each other. Mismatched delay settings will cause a significant loss of energy.
The integrated DSP includes all the required processing for normal operation and alignment with the accompanying
BASSBOSS tops boxes. When connecting multiple BASSBOSS loudspeakers in a system, signal can be passed
through from one powered loudspeaker to another using XLR cables. No processing is applied to the signal as it
passes through from the input to the output connectors in each loudspeaker. Signal can be routed in any sequence
because each loudspeaker receives a full-range signal and applies the necessary processing in order to operate as
part of the overall system. It is recommended to run signal to the nearest box first and patch to the next nearest
box in sequence.
No more than 2 powered SSP118 should be connected to a 20A circuit. The typical power draw of one SSP118
amplifier module is 5A. With heavy demand, the current draw can peak at 20A. It's recommended to power
combinations of a subwoofer and a top on a circuit and to power each subwoofer and top combination on a separate
circuit to reduce the chances of overdrawing a circuit and tripping a breaker.

WARRANTY INF RMATI N
Beyond ensuring your satisfaction, our extensive "Sound Defense" transferable warranty covers your purchases for a period of two years.
BASSBOSS cabinet integrity, (the wood, joinery and fasteners,) is warranted for a total of six years. All drivers, amps and electronic
components are covered against failures due to defects in materials and/or workmanship for a period of three years from the date of
purchase. Burned or open voice coils in subwoofers are also covered for two years. See the details and limitations below:
It is our goal to provide trouble-free loudspeakers. That objective begins as part of the design phase but it continues on through to any service
you may require. In order to be able to provide the lowest possible failure rate, the best possible warranty service and the fastest turn-around
time, we request that you contact us immediately if you notice any problem with your system, and before you attempt any repairs. We can
provide the best and fastest solution if we know the details of the problem before any repair attempts are made. Often BASSBOSS
technicians can troubleshoot problems that may arise and no repair or further service will be necessary.
Warranty support is a service, and part of that service includes helping you prevent failures and minimize repair and shipping costs.

STANDARD CABINET WARRANTY
BASSBOSS loudspeaker cabinet integrity, including all joinery, fasteners, handles and wood, is warranted against defects in materials and
workmanship for a period of six years from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover items that are intended to wear and can be
replaced if worn or damaged. Examples of items not covered by this warranty are cabinet feet, grills and the finish or coating applied to the
cabinet.
ENHANCED C MP NENT WARRANTY
BASSBOSS self-powered loudspeaker components, including their amplifiers, digital processors, drivers and voice coils, are warranted for
a period of two years from the date of purchase, subject to the limitations outlined below.
WARRANTY LIMITATI NS
During the warranty period, if your loudspeaker malfunctions or fails due to any defect in components or manufacturing, the failed parts will
be repaired or replaced. This warranty does not extend to damage resulting from improper installation, misuse, neglect or abuse. Warranty
coverage will be determined upon inspection by BASSBOSS personnel. This warranty does not cover labor other than that authorized and
performed by BASSBOSS personnel. Service will be performed upon the return of the failed unit, together with its original sales receipt or
other proof of purchase, to BASSBOSS or an Authorized Service Facility. Purchaser is responsible for all costs of shipping and handling.
Cosmetic damage is specifically excluded from this warranty. This warranty is rendered void if service, repairs and/or modifications are
attempted or made by anyone not specifically authorized by BASSBOSS to perform said services. Please contact BASSBOSS or your
local BASSBOSS dealer before attempting any repairs and before shipping parts in for service.

EXP RT WARRANTY
BASSBOSS products can be purchased worldwide. In countries without local BASSBOSS distributors, product requiring service must be
shipped back to the US for warranty repairs. In most cases, the entire cabinet will not need to be shipped. Generally only the individual
affected parts will need to be shipped to the factory for servicing. Please contact BASSBOSS before attempting any repairs and before
shipping parts in for service.
