Adjwting the Audio Level
Onceyour umt hascompletedthe self-test,the audiolevelcanbeadjustedby pressingand
holdingthe P/V button. Asyou hearthe audiolevelchange,the4.LEDdisplayprovidesa visual
referenceof the audiolevel.Toreversethe drection in which theaudiocycles,bnefly release,
thenhold down the P/V button again.
DRK (Dim/Dark) Button
Pressthe DRKbutton onceto engagethe “dim” modeof the LEDdisplay.Pressthe DRKbutton
againto completelycancelilluminationof the LEDdisplay;the green“P”LEDwll remainin “dim”
modeto confirm your unit ibreceivingpower.PressDRKa third time to returnthe displayro full
bright.
Note: ifyoupress the DRK button and do not receive audible confiwnation, the audio level bus
been set too low.

AutomaticMute Pressthe AUDbutton oncewhen the unit is recewingNO alertsto engage
AutomaticMutemode.Thealertpatternwhen this modeis activatedconsistsof severalX/K or Ka
alertsfollowed by a “clicking”tonewhich will momtorthe durationof the slgnalencounter.Asthe
signalincreasesm mrens~ty,the “clicking”tonewill becomemire rapid.AutomaticMute mode
enablesyou to convenientlymonitor extendedencounterswithout havingto manuallymute or
adjustthevolumesetting.To returnto the audioalertmode,presstheAUD button a secondtime
(while the unit is not alerting).
ManualMute Regardlessof the AUD modeselected(continuousor Automatic),the audioalerts
canbe completelymutedby pressingtheAUD button during analert.Oncethe alerthaspassed,
the unit will revertto the previousAUD setting(continuousor automaticmute)
CTY(City/Highway) Button
TheCTYbutton is designedto reducethe numberof alertsreceivedfrom unwanteds~wcessuch
asdoor alarms,intrusionalarmsandother deviceswhich shareX bandwth pohceradar.Signals
from non-policeRadarsourcesarefrequentlyencounteredin urbanandsuburbanareas,making
useof this modeidealin theseareas.
PressCTYonceto engagethe city mode.With CT?’engaged,no audiblealertwill be hearduntil
nalstrengthreachesa presetlevel.Visualalerts,however,will be processedthe instantanX
~gnalis detected,keepingyou quietly informed.

6. Pressthe P/v button to exit SelectableFeaturesmode.Two “beeps”confirm you haveexited
SelectableFeaturesandyour unit will be operational,basedon your selectionsmade.

Do not mountyour unit directlybehindwmdsh~eldwipersor mirroredsunscreenswhich block
RadarandLasersignalsandsubstantiallyreducewarning range.Unlike “aftermarket”mirrored
sunscreens, regulartinted glassdoesnot affectRadarreception.Radarsignalsarealsoreflectedby
the “heatedwindshield”known asInstacleaFandElectricleaigavailableasan option on some
vehicles,makinganydetectorineffective If in doubt, checkwith an appropriatedealershipto see
if thisappliesto your vehicle.
TOachieveoptimum performance,regardlessof which mountingpositionyou choose,follow these
basicsteps:

1. Removethe detector’scoverby pressingon the raiseddotsandpushmgoutward.Storethe

Windshield Mounting
1. Removethe detector’scoverby pressq on the raiseddotsand pushingoutward.
2. Cleanthe selectedwindshieldarea,positionthe suction-cupmounton the windshieldand
pressFirmlyon eachsuctioncup to secweit m place.
3. Usea screwdriver or smallcoin to adjustthe suction-cupmount until the baseplate islevel.

Yourunit operateson 13.8voltsDCand receivespower from tht: cigarettehghtersocket The
cigarettelighterplug hasbeendeslgnedto fit unwersallyin all sockets.Thelightersocketmusthe
cleanandwell groundedfor proper operation.
FuseReplacement
1. Carefullyunscrewthe tip of the cigarettelighter plug, removethetip andthe fuse.Keplace
with a l-amp, 3AGfuse.Defeatingthefiueprotection can damageyour unit oryour vehicle’s
electricalsystemand will voidyour warranty.

LaserAlerts
WhenLaser1sdetected,the 4 ted LEDsignalstrengthdisplaywill flashin a “railroad”pattern(two
outsideLEDsfollowedby the two insideLEDs).Thisilluminationpatternoccursrapidlyandis
coupledwith the illuminationof the red LaserLEDCL)andthe distinctLaseraudioakrt.
If avehicle1sa long distancefrom the sourceof laserpulses,fewerpulseswill generallybe
received.Thecloserthe velxcleis to the sourceof Laserpulses,thegreaterthe likelihood of
receivinga steadystreamof Laserpulses.Thereasonfor this ISthealmingstabilityof the Laser
gun andthe factthat is its impossibleto hold the gun absolutelystill. Any movementof the gun
resultsin motion of the beam at the target.Thefurther thetarget,thegrearerthedisplacementof
the beamandtheshorterthe dwell timeof the beamat rhetargetpoint. Therefore,thereis the
possibilityof receivingonly a few Laserpulses.Dueto thesecharacteristics,all laseralertsreceived
from your unit shouldbe takenseriously.
Performance Verification
Conditions that a@& Radaralerts
If you feelyour unit isnot alertingproperly,keepin mind thattherearemanyconditionsthat
influencethe intensityor durationof an alert.
1 ThepoliceareusingInstant-On/Pulsedradar,in which caseno signalis transmitteduntil
wual contacthasbeenmadewith your vehicle.Fordetectionof this signal,you mustrely on
reflectedsignalsfrom Radardirectedat traffic travelingaheadof you.
2. Thepolice Radarunit ispositionedperpendicularto the road,arounda curve,or just over rhe
crestof a hill, thus,significantlyreducingthe receptionrange.
3. Thehighwaytraffic betweenyour vehicleandthe policeRadarsourceis heavy.This
blocks/reflectstransmittedsignals.Thepresenceof severallargetmcks betweenyou and the
policeRadarunit could alsosignificantlyreducereception.
4. Rainor humidweatherconditionscanabsorbtransmittedsignalsbeforetheyreachyour
vehicle,againreducingdetectionrange.
5. The policeRadarunit is nor properlytunedandistransmittedoutsidethe allocatedx/KKa
frequencyranges.

If you feelyour unit is not properlyalettingto the presenceof Lasersignals,keepin mind that
rain,fog, high humidity and otherweatherconditionscanaffectthe rangethatthe laserbeamcan
he detected.
