Thank you for purchasing the treVolo U Bluetooth Speaker. As the
first speaker designed specially for online learning, treVolo U applies
latest technologies to create the highest vocal quality in different
learning environments. It ensures your learning safely, effectively, and
efficiently.

In order to use all functions of treVolo U, it is recommended to
download and install the "treVolo U" App on an Android™ (8.0 or
above) or iOS (12.0 or above) device. To download the App, scan the
QR Code below.

Operation
Buttons and connection
1. Sound Modes button with LED
Press the button to switch to different sound modes. See The
three Sound Modes on page 12.
2. Safe Volume button
Press for 1 second to activate Safe Volume, which adjusts the
overall audio volume level based on the proximity of the person
to the speaker, sound level from surroundings and audio volume
level. See Safe Volume on page 13.

3. Volume down button with microphone LED
• Press the button to volume down.
• For more information on LED lights, see Muting the
microphone on page 11.
4. Volume up button with speaker LED
• Press the button to volume up.
• For more information on LED lights, see Adjusting volume level
on page 11.
5. Bluetooth button with LED
• Press for 2 seconds to activate the Bluetooth pairing mode.
• For more information on LED lights, see Bluetooth LED
indicator on page 9.
6. Power button with LED
• Press for 2 seconds to turn on/off the speaker.
• For more information on LED lights, see Power LED indicator
on page 7.
7. Microphone
8. Distance sensor
Detects the objects within range and adjusts volume when Safe
Volume is activated.
9. Voice control LED
• Indicates the status of the voice control function.
• For more information on LED lights, see Voice control on
page 25.
10. Audio jack
For 3.5mm audio cable connection.
11. USB Type-C port
For speaker charging.
The USB Type-C port is only for charging and firmware update. Other data
transferring or power supply functions are not supported.

Charge device
Before using the treVolo U Bluetooth speaker, please charge the
speaker thoroughly with the USB cable and power adapter supplied by
BenQ.
If the speaker is not in use, the battery will take approximately
3 hours to be fully charged. A fully charged battery can last up to
12 hours.
• The speaker will make a notice sound when the batter is below 20%.
• When the battery is completely used up, the speaker will power off
automatically after low battery indicator appears.

Power LED indicator
Three LEDs above the power button indicate the power level of the
battery.
LED indicator Power status
No LED lights up • Speaker turned off.
• Power adapter unconnected.
Single red LED • Speaker turned off.
• Power adapter connected.
• Battery charging.
Single green LED • Speaker turned off.
• Power adapter connected.
• Battery fully charged.
First white LED • Speaker turned on.
• Battery is 0-33% charged.
• If the battery is charging, the first LED blinks.
Second white LED • Speaker turned on.
• Battery is 34-67% charged.
• If the battery is charging, the second LED
blinks.
Third white LED • Speaker turned on.
• Battery is 68-100% charged.
• If the battery is charging, the third LED blinks.

Power on/off device
To turn the speaker on or off, please press the power button for
2 seconds. When the speaker is turning on or off, a sound will be
made.
• To reboot the speaker, press and hold power button for 10 seconds in case
you need it.

Sleep Mode on page 20 and Auto Power Off on page 21.

Pairing device (Bluetooth connection)
Bluetooth LED indicator

If the battery is not charged,
please insert the power adapter,
then press the power button for
2 seconds to turn the speaker
on.

Press the Bluetooth button for
2 seconds to get into pairing
mode; the LED Bluetooth
indicator will flash blue.

Enable Bluetooth in the device
pairing to treVolo U, select
"treVolo U" in the Bluetooth
device list and connect it to the
speaker.
The speaker is capable of storing up to 8 pairing devices in its memory.
LED indicator Status of the speaker
Slow blinking blue Searching for a device.
Flashing blue Under pairing mode.
Solid blue Connected to a device.

Reconnecting to the device
The speaker will search for the device that has been paired with it in
priority. Under this reconnection the Bluetooth LED will blink slowly
in blue.
If the speaker is unable to pair previous device within 80 seconds, it
will automatically switch to pairing mode for new device with rapid
blue flash.
If the device is successfully connected, the Bluetooth LED indicator
will turn solid blue. To pair to another device, please repeat the steps
in Pairing device (Bluetooth connection) on page 9.
Reset the Bluetooth pairing list
In case the pairing keeps unsuccessful it is recommended to reset the
Bluetooth pairing device list by holding Bluetooth button for
10 seconds. After a beep sound the reset is completed and the
speaker is ready for pairing with blue LED flash.
Connecting with audio cable
If the device is not equipped with the function of Bluetooth, it is
possible to use a 3.5mm audio cable to connect the device to the
speaker.

Adjusting volume level
There are 15 volume levels in treVolo U. To adjust the volume:
• Press the volume up or volume down button to progressively adjust
the volume.
• Press and hold the volume up or volume down button to
continuously adjust the volume.
When the speaker reaches the maximum volume (15), a sound would
be made and pressing the volume up botton will turn the LED above
the volume up bottom red.
Muting the microphone
The microphone will be turned on only in the Live Learning mode. To
mute the microphone of the speaker:
To unmute the microphone, please repeat step 1 and 2 mentioned
above. If the microphone LED ( ) is off, it indicates that the speaker
is unmuted.
1. Please make sure Sound Modes has been switched to "Live
Learning" mode (the LED above flashing white).
2. Press the volume up ( ) and volum down ( ) button at the
same time.
3. After the microphone is muted, the microphone LED ( ) above
the volume down button will turn red.

The three Sound Modes
By switching the Sound Mode, the speaker will provide the most
suitable sound and sound effect to different situations, thereby
enhancing users' experience.
To turn on the Sound Mode:
1. Press and hold the power button ( ) to turn on the speaker.
2. Connect the speaker to the Bluetooth device that you would like
to use for playing online learning materials. For more information
regarding to Bluetooth connection, see Pairing device (Bluetooth
connection) on page 9.
3. When pressing the Sound Mode button ( ), the speaker will switch
between the modes mentioned below. Users are able to select a suitable
mode for the type of audio being played.

After selecting a suitable Sound Mode, enable the Safe Volume
function to ensure the volume is at a suitable level for you.
Safe Volume
The Safe Volume is designed for the safety of the learners' hearings.
It detects the following data and automatically adjusts to the most
suitable volume level through algorithm:
• Distance of user to the speaker
• Volume from surroundings
• Input audio volume
To activate the Safe Volume, please press the Safe Volume button for
1 second, the speaker will start analyzing the volume of the
surroundings and adjust the volume with a beep sound in the end.
• The microphone only activates when the Live Learning mode is on.
• When having the online courses via Bluetooth connection, the speaker will
automatically switch to the Live Learning mode (LED lights flashing), and
adjust the sound to the highest interactive quality.

When using the Safe Volume, please keep the following guidelines in
mind to function properly:
• The distance sensor ranges to 150 cm and the detection angle is at
27 degrees.
• Do not use the speaker outdoors or in direct sunlight.
• Do not place any objects in front of the sensor while in use.
• When using the Safe Volume, the user should be in front of the
speaker.

Using the treVolo U App
treVolo U App ( ) allows you to navigate and use advanced
functions of the speaker directly from your mobile devices.
Before using the treVolo U App, please complete the following steps
first:
After finishing the steps above, activate the treVolo U App on your
mobile device. The App will start searching available speakers for
pairing. If there are more than one treVolo U Bluetooth speakers
within the range, please select the speaker you would like to pair from
the list of nearby speakers in the App. After the speaker is successfully
connected to a device, the home page of the treVolo U App will
appear.
1. Please install treVolo U App from App Store or scan the QR code
listed on page 1.
2. Turn on the speaker.
3. Make a Bluetooth connection with the speaker using the mobile
device after the installation of the treVolo U App. See Pairing
device (Bluetooth connection) on page 9.

The home page provides the following options:
Number Description
1. Name(s) of the speaker's device(s).
2. Battery level of the speaker.
3. Activate Safe Volume. After activating Safe Volume via
App, the App will show the result of the Safe Volume
detection procedures, including:
• The best volume level after adjusting
• Volume from surrounding
• The distance between the user and the speaker
4. Return to the home page of the App.

5. By entering the Settings menu, you will be able to:
• Watch a tutorial on how to use the App.
• Change the language of the speaker's voice response.
• Turn on/off Sleep Mode (default turn off), see Sleep
Mode on page 20.
• Turn on/off Auto Power Off - treVolo U set (default
turn on), see Auto Power Off on page 21.
• Turn on/off treVolo U Ringtone (default turn on), see
Adjust treVolo U Ringtone on page 22.
• To set up a stereo connection, see True Wireless Stereo
on page 23.
• Check the version number of the App and the speaker
firmware.
6. Show the connected device.
7. Select My sound profiles to set up sound profiles, see
Setting a customized profile on page 18.
8. Displays the current Sound Modes, see The three Sound
Modes on page 12.
9. Enter the Connected Device function menu. From this
menu, you are able to:
• View the Bluetooth pairing list.
• Rename the device in the pairing list.
• Set up Commonly connected devices, so that the
speaker will prioritize the device when connecting via
Bluetooth.
