General Safety Information
When setting up or operating your device, please pay special attention to
the following:
• Make sure you follow all instructions and warnings related to the system.
• Do not store your device in environments where the temperature is below
-10°C or above 50°C, nor use your device in environments where the
temperature is below 0°C or above 35°C. Otherwise system performance
will be adversely affected.
• Do not expose your device to rain or excess humidity, and keep it away
from liquids (such as beverages, faucets, and so on).
• Avoid exposing your device to direct sunlight, or intense light source, and
keep it away from sources of heat (such as radiators, space heaters, stoves,
and so on).
• Do not expose your device to heavy impacts or strong vibrations.
• Do not use your device near a gas leak.
• Do not use your device near water, for example, near a bathtub, wash
bowl, kitchen sink or laundry tub, in a wet basement or near a swimming
pool.
• Do not place the device in the vicinity of strong magnetic fields.
• Keep the device accessories away from children.
• Please DO NOT put anything upon the device while using it or leaving it
alone.
Safety information about the battery
The incorrect use of battery may cause leak of chemicals or explosion. Cau-
tion: The leak of chemicals may harm the skin and erode the metal contacts.
If any chemicals leaks from the device, please use the dry cloth to wipe it
clean and contact your BenQ dealer or service center for battery replace-
ment.

Maintenance and care
• Under no circumstances should you disassemble the speaker. Self-
disassembly leads you to the risk of electric shocks. Contact certified
service representatives if required.
• Do not cover the speaker or place any object on top of the speaker during
operation or at least one hour after operating the speaker. This is to avoid
interfering with the heat dispersal function of the heatsink.
Cleaning the speaker
To clean the exterior surface of your product, wipe it with a soft and dry
cloth.
• Do not use solvents, chemicals, or sprays.
• Do not allow liquids to spill or objects to drop into any of the openings.

Item Description
A NFC Sensor Touch with an NFC-enabled Bluetooth device to
instantly pair the device to the speaker.
B AUX/RCA Button Press to switch between AUX and RCA audio
sources.

F Speaker Nets Covers the speakers.
Do not poke or put pressure on the speaker nets as
this will damage both the cloth and the speaker
drivers inside.
G Preset Channel Knob Turn the knob to switch preset channels.
H Control Panel Displays various status icons as well as text
notifying you of the status of the speaker, see
Control Panel for more information.
I Volume Knob Turn to adjust the volume of the speaker.

J Heatsink Disperses heat from the Class A amplifier
located under the heatsink.
The heatsink will give off heat during both normal
operation and in standby mode. Do not be alarmed if
the heatsink is warm to the touch during both
conditions.

K Bass Reflex Port Enhances the sound generated by the
subwoofer.
Please ensure that no foreign objects fall into the bass
reflex port.
L Power Connector Connect to a power source via the power cable.
M USB Port Connect a USB storage device (such as a USB
flash memory drive or external hard drive) for
music playback.
Storage devices must use the FAT or FAT32 file
format. treVolo A does not support NTFS file format
storage devices.
N LAN Port Connect to an internet router for internet
access.
O SPDIF Port Connect to a digital audio source.

Control Panel
The control panel located on the front of the speaker displays various icons
as well as text notifying you of the status of the speaker. During playback the
center of the control panel displays information regarding the song or preset
channel that is playing, when no music is playing the center of the control
panel displays system messages.
When the preset channel knob is turned the ring at the edge of the control
panel will indicate which of the six preset channels is selected. When the
volume knob is turned the ring at the edge of the of the control panel will
display a volume bar indicating the volume level.
The top of the control panel displays the following icons indicating the input
source for the speaker:

The bottom of the control panel displays the following icons indicating the
connection status of the speaker:
The treVolo A App
In order to use all functions related to the treVolo A speaker you must first
install the treVolo A app on a smart device. Once the treVolo A app is
installed on your smart device you will be able to:
• Connect your speaker to a wireless network.
• Access and play music wirelessly on your speaker from Spotify music
streaming service, vTuner internet radio, DLNA-based media servers (such
as Network Attached Storage devices) and USB storage devices.
• Preset music playlists, radio stations, or music files to one of six easy to
access channels on your speaker.
• Sync playback on multiple speakers.
Installing the treVolo A app
To install the treVolo A app search for “treVolo A” in Google Play Store (for
smart devices using Android) or the App Store (for smart devices using iOS)
then install the app directly.

Wi-Fi •Flashing: Wi-Fi connection has not
been set.
•On: Wi-Fi is connected.
When the icon is on, the amount of
bars lit on the icon indicate the
signal strength.
Ethernet •Flashing: Ethernet is awaiting
connection.
•On: Ethernet is connected.
•Off: Ethernet port is not connected.
Bluetooth®•Flashing: Pairing mode is activated
and awaiting pairing.
•On: Bluetooth®is connected.
•Gray: No device is connected, and
the speaker is not detectable.

Powering the Speaker
Standby mode
When you have finished using the speaker press the power button to place it
into standby mode. In standby mode the power LED indicator will light up
orange.
Turning off the speaker
1. Plug the speaker to a power source
using the supplied power cable. The
power LED indicator will light up
orange indicating that the speaker is
in standby mode.
2. Press the power button. The power
LED indicator will turn off and the
control panel will display a welcome
message. Once the welcome
message is finished you can begin
using the speaker.
After powering on, the following audio
sources can be used without internet
access or the use of the treVolo A app:
Bluetooth®, RCA, AUX, SPDIF.
When the speaker is in standby mode the heatsink will continue to disperse heat from
the speaker’s amplifier. Do not be alarmed if the heatsink is still warm to the touch
while the speaker is in standby mode.
If you do not plan to use the
speaker for a long duration or want
to conserve energy you may unplug
the speaker from the power source
after placing the speaker in standby
mode.

Using the Remote Control
Activating the remote control batteries
Replacing the remote control battery
Pull out the plastic battery shield
between the battery contacts on your
remote control and the battery as
illustrated.
• Avoid leaving the remote control and battery in an excessive heat or humid
environment like the kitchen, bathroom, sauna, sunroom or in a closed car.
• Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the battery
manufacturer.
• Dispose of the used batteries according to the manufacturer's instructions and local
environment regulations for your region.
• Never throw the battery into a fire. There may be danger of an explosion.
• If the battery is drained or if you will not be using the remote control for an
extended period of time, remove the battery to avoid damage to the remote control
from possible battery leakage.
1. Push and hold the locking arm while pulling out the battery holder.
2. Insert the new battery in the holder. Note that the positive side of the
battery should face outward.
3. Push the holder into the remote control.

Connections (Wireless)
Connecting with your speaker by Wi-Fi
A Wi-Fi connection allows your speaker to wirelessly access Spotify and
vTuner radio via the treVolo A app, as well as play preset channels directly
from these music services. To setup a wireless connection follow the steps
below:
• Ensure that your speaker is not connected to the internet via an Ethernet connection
before starting the Wi-Fi setup process.
• treVolo A supports Wi-Fi 2.4G and 5G.
• Wi-Fi supported channels: 2.4GHz channels 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 / 5GHz
channels 36, 40, 44, 48,149, 153, 157, 161, 165.
1. Install the treVolo A app on your smart device.
2. Place the speaker within range of the Wi-Fi router you want it to
connect to.
3. Enable Wi-Fi on your smart device.
4. Launch the treVolo A app on your smart device.
5. Select “Add new speaker” in the treVolo A app.
6. Select “Wireless” in the treVolo A app.
7. Press and hold the Wi-Fi button on your speaker for 3 seconds.
If after pressing and holding the Wi-Fi buttons for 3 seconds there is 10 seconds of
inactivity your speaker will return to normal operation, press and hold the Wi-Fi
button again for 3 seconds.
8. The control panel will display a message asking if you want to clear the
speaker’s Wi-Fi settings. Press the Wi-Fi button to confirm that you
want to clear any Wi-Fi settings. This will activate Wi-Fi setup mode.
This message will not appear when connecting with your speaker for the first time.
9. Select “Next” in the treVolo A app.
10. Select the speaker from the list of available speakers in the treVolo A
app.
By default the name of the speaker follows the format “treVolo A
xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx” with the last 6 characters being the last 6 characters of the
speaker’s MAC address. To check the MAC address of your speaker press and hold
the AUX/RCA and Bluetooth®/SPDIF on the speaker for 5 seconds to enter the
System info menu on the speaker, then turn the volume knob to scroll to the MAC
address.

Once you have successfully connected your speaker to a Wi-Fi network you
can control music playback from various sources such as Spotify, vTuner
Internet Radio, music stored on media servers (such as NAS devices), or a
USB storage device, using the treVolo A app.
Connecting more devices with your speaker by Wi-Fi
Once a Wi-Fi connection is set up for your speaker you will be able to
access the speaker wirelessly with other smart devices by following the
steps below:
11. Select the Wi-Fi router you want the speaker to connect to from the list
of available Wi-Fi networks in the treVolo A app and enter the router’s
security password if any. The speaker will begin connecting to the Wi-Fi
router.
12. When the speaker has successfully connected to the Wi-Fi router the
Wi-Fi icon on the control panel will be lit continuously.
13. Update the name of your speaker then select “Done” to finish the Wi-Fi
setup process.
Your treVolo A speaker can only store connection information for one Wi-Fi access
point at a time. If you want to switch the Wi-Fi network for your speaker press and
hold the Wi-Fi button on speaker for 3 seconds and repeat the process again.
If there is 5 minutes of inactivity on the speaker or in the treVolo A app during the
Wi-Fi setup process the Wi-Fi setup process will automatically stop.
1. Install the treVolo A app on the other smart device.
2. Enable Wi-Fi on the smart device and connect to the same Wi-Fi
network which your speaker is connected to.
3. Launch the treVolo A app on the smart device.
4. Select “Use linked speakers” in the treVolo A app. A list of connected
treVolo A speakers will appear in the app.
5. Select your speaker in the list and the main menu for the speaker will
open.

Connecting with your speaker by Bluetooth®
A Bluetooth connection allows your speaker to directly play any audio from
a Bluetooth-enabled smart device. To pair and connect your speaker to a
smart device follow the steps below:
Pairing another Bluetooth device
Press and hold the Bluetooth button for 3 seconds or more to make the
speaker discoverable. Turn on Bluetooth® on your device to discover and
pair with “treVolo A_XXXX”.
Speaker memory
The speaker can remember up to eight paired devices. If an additional device
is paired, the device which has not been paired to the speaker most recently
will be removed from the list of stored devices.
Resetting the list of paired Bluetooth devices
To reset the list of paired Bluetooth devices, you will have to initiate a
factory reset, which will also reset all other stored data on the speaker.
Reconnecting a device
The speaker will not automatically connect with devices stored in its pairing
memory after it is powered off and powered back on again, or after pairing
mode is activated. A Bluetooth connection needs to be re-established by the
smart device after each of these instances.
1. Press and hold the Bluetooth®/SPDIF button for 3 seconds to make the
speaker discoverable. The Bluetooth icon will begin flashing.
2. Turn on Bluetooth® on your device and select “treVolo A_XXXX” in
the smart device’s Bluetooth menu to pair and connect to your treVolo
A.
3. Play any media on your device and the speaker will play the audio.
If you have not paired any Bluetooth device to the speaker within 2 minutes of
making the speaker discoverable, the speaker will automatically deactivate pairing
mode and the speaker will no longer be discoverable. To activate pairing mode and
make the speaker discoverable again, repeat step 1.

NFC
NFC (Near Field Communication) is a method of wireless communication
enabling the flow of information in close proximity between two devices
without the need of an internet connection. NFC compatible devices can
automatically pair and connect with your treVolo A via Bluetooth®when
they are close to each other by following the steps below:
1. Set the NFC function of your smart
device to on. Please refer to the
instructions supplied with your
smart device for more details.
2. To u c h t h e on the top of your
treVolo A with your smart device
until your device responds.
3. Confirm on your device that you want to pair your device to the
treVolo A.
4. Play any media on your device and the speakers will play the audio via the
Bluetooth connection.
