The Bernini 2-in1 Hummingbird Bird Seed Feeder can be disassembled for easy cleaning or replacing parts.
Cleaning your 2-in1 Hummingbird Bird Seed Feeder
For healthy and happy birds and in order to keep your 2-in1 Hummingbird Bird Seed Feeder in tip-top shape and free
of bacteria, we recommend cleaning your 2-in1 Hummingbird Bird Seed Feeder once a month in winter, more frequent
in hot and humid weather. Cleanings provide a healthy and happy environment for all the birds visiting your 2-in1 Hum-
mingbird Bird Seed Feeder, and this will provide may hours of enjoyment for you and your birds. To clean your 2-in1
Hummingbird Bird Seed Feeder fully disassemble and use a mild soap and soft cloth to clean the parts. Make sure to
rinse thoroughly after any and all cleaning.
DO NOT SCRUB YOUR 2-IN1 HUMMINGBIRD BIRD SEED FEEDER USING COARSE OR HARSH CLEANSERS OR
SCRUBBING PADS AS THIS COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FINISH.
Cleaning Plastic Components
1. Allow the birds to empty the 2-in1 Hummingbird Bird Seed Feeder as far as possible. Empty out any remaining seed
and debris.
2. Disassemble the 2-in1 Hummingbird Bird Seed Feeder.
3. Carefully remove any surface debris with a soft wet sponge or cloth. Using a dry sponge or cloth will scratch the sur-
face.
4. Use a soft brush (non-abrasive) or soft cloth, and a solution of a mild hand dish washing detergent and warm water to
remove dust, salt and other contaminates.
5. We recommend disinfecting the polycarbonate components of your 2-in1 Hummingbird Bird Seed Feeder using a
50/50 solution of white vinegar and warm water, rinse thoroughly.
6. Ensure to dry all components of the 2-in1 Hummingbird Bird Seed Feeder completely before reassembly and lling the
feeder with seed.
Cleaning The Bronze Colored Metal Components
Proper cleaning will help protect the powder coated nish from the eects of water, sun and pollution. Maintaining the
nish on powder coated components is essential to protecting your 2-in1 Hummingbird Bird Seed Feeder. Powder coat-
ing is a very durable, protective coating for metal surfaces, but proper care will help prolong the nish. Over time, pow-
der coated nishes exposed to the elements may show signs of weathering such as reduced gloss, chalking and slight
color loss. Consistent, scheduled cleanings will help remove dirt, grime and other surface buildup that may be harmful to
the powder coated nish.
1. Carefully remove any loose surface debris with a soft wet sponge or cloth. Using a dry sponge or cloth will scratch the
surface.
2. Use a soft brush (non-abrasive) or soft cloth, and a solution of a mild hand dish washing detergent and warm water to
remove dust, salt and other deposits.
3. Do not use a solution of white vinegar and water on the powder coated metal components as this may damage the
nish.
4. Dry all components completely before reassembly and lling your 2-in1 Hummingbird Bird Seed Feeder with seed.
5. Powder coated components only! Extra protection may be required to prolong the nish, especially in harsh environ-
ments. Use a light coat of high grade, nonabrasive car wax containing UV blocker and/or UV inhibitors on the surfaces
which are only exposed to the elements. Wipe o any residual wax as this may cause permanent staining from the heat
of the sun. If used clean and or remove any harsh chemicals prior to lling with any bird seed or hummingbird food as
this may harm birds.
Placement: Birds feel vulnerable out in the open so we recommend you place your 2 in 1 Hummingbird Bird Seed
Feeder near a tree or bush but not too close where a squirrel could jump in. Birds are creatures of habit and it could take
weeks to feel comfortable at a new feeder.
With options of hanging or pole mounting, you can have your 2-in-1 Hummingbird & Bird Seed Feeder almost anywhere!
Place your 2-in1 Hummingbird Bird Seed Feeder where you can easily see it, even an accessible second story window!
If you must place a nectar feeder in full sun for your enjoyment, just remember to check the condition of the nectar more
often. In order to help hummingbirds nd your feeders more easily, place them near a hanging owering plant or tie a red
ribbon around the hanging rod. If you place your 2-in1 Hummingbird Bird Seed Feeder out in early spring, you will be
able to entice the early arrivals of spring migration and persuade them to stay.

NECTAR NEEDS
Hummingbirds need to feed between 5 and 8 times every hour, so keeping your feeder well supplied with energy packed
nectar is crucial, especially in early spring when natural ower nectar and insects are not as readily available.
Hummingbird Nectar Recipe
The formula for hummingbird food is simple: about one part white granulated sugar to four parts water. Boil the water
for approximately 2 minutes, add the sugar, and stir to dissolve thoroughly. We do not recommend adding red dye to the
nectar mixture. Cover and allow to cool before using or pouring into a clean storage bottle. A large batch of nectar can
be made and stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. This makes relling the feeder easy so you won’t mind doing
it every few days.
You must change the nectar frequently - at least twice a week. The need to change the nectar depends on the tempera-
tures, where the feeder is hung, and number and frequency of hummingbirds feeding at your feeder. If the birds are not
emptying your feeder between cleanings, it’s unnecessary and wasteful to ll it completely. Fill only with the amount
of nectar they will consume in a few days. Over time you will get a feel for how much nectar to put in the feeder. If you
notice that the nectar is turning milky, or that white strings or black spots are growing in it, change it more often. If you
don’t have hummingbirds in your area you can ll the hummingbird feeder (Lower Bird Feeder Assembly) with water.
