GROUNDINGINSTRUCTIONS
This appliance must be connected to a grounded
wiring system. If it should malfunction or break
down, grounding provides a safe path of least
resistance for electrical current, reducing the risk of
electrical shock. The cord for this appliance has an
equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding
plug. It must only be plugged into an outlet that is

Fill the 2-in-1 watertank
1. Releasethe handleandlaythe machinehandle
backto accesstheTank.
2. Removethetank from the baseof themachine by
lifting the tank carry handle.
3. Carrylikeabuckettothe sink.Rotatethehandle
forwardtounlatchthelid.Liftoffandsetthelidaside.
4. Fill upthe bladderwith cleanhot tapwater.
*Do notboil or microwavewater as it can
destroythe bladder.
5. Replacethetopof the tank by matchingthe lid
and tank edges.Handlemust be in the forward
positionin orderto replacelid. Rotatethe handle
to thecarrying positiontolatch the lid.
Note:Rememberto securethe lidandtestto
makesureit issecurebeforepickingupthetank.
6. Placetank intomachinebase,seatingfirmly in place.
Rotatetank handlebackintolatchedposition.Bring

2. Releasethetriggerandmakeoneslowforwardand
backwardpassoverthesameareato removeany
residualdirtywater,andaidin drying.Repeatcleaning
passesuntilsolutionbeingpulledupappearsclean.
Continuepasseswithoutpressingthethggeruntilyou
can'tseeanymorewaterbeingpulledup.
NOTE: Boththe SmartMix tank and the
clean water tank must have liquid in them
in order for the machine to spray. If one
tank is empty the machine will notapply
cleaning solution or water.

1. Removethe2-in-1watertankfromthe baseusing
thetankcarryhandle.Carrythetanklikea bucketto
autilitysinkoroutsidewhereyouwilldisposeofthe
collectionwater Removethetopofthetankby rotating
thehandleforwardto unlatchlidandliftinglidofftank.
2. Emptycollectionwater from bottomof tank.
NOTE:Youmay notice hair& debrisdeposits
on the carpet or in the tank that were
loosenedbythe cleaning action (especially
with newer carpets that have neverbeen
deep cleaned before). This debris shouldbe
picked up and thrown away.
3. After eachuse, removeandrinsethe lint screen
locatedon thetank lid.
4. Refillthetank in tank by referencing"Fill the2-in-
1water tank" on page9.Rememberto securethe
topof thetank by rotatingthe handleand test to
makesure it is securebeforepicking up.
5. Return2-in-1 water tank to themachine.
NOTE:Always check the level of cleaning
formula in the SmartMix tank at the same
time, and refill as needed.

Rinse (optional)
Rinsing is an optional step that can be done
during the cleaning process by switching to the
water rinse setting,or it can be done after the
carpeted area has been cleaned.
1. Simplychoosethewater rinsesettingonthe
SmartMixdial,and follow the samepath as you
did for cleaning,taking caretodo aforward (wet)
strokeby depressingthe trigger,a backward(wet)
stroke,and a forwardand backward(dry)stroke,
releasingthetrigger.Continuethis until thewater
yousee coming upthe nozzleisclear.

2-in-1watertankisemptiedandrinsedout.Put
theunitawayina closetorbasementforthe next
use.TheSmartMixtank canremainfilledand
readytogo(storewith machinesettowateronly
setting),oritcansimplybeemptiedbackintothe
formulabottleifthatismoreconvenient.
Note:Storecleanerina protected,dryarea.
Sincethisproductuseswater,itmustnotbe
storedwherethereisa dangeroffreezing.

Machine Care
For best results, a few simple steps can assure
your machine iswell maintained after your
cleaning is complete.
1. Turnpowerswitch OFF( 0 ). Unplugthe machine
andwrap the powercord.
2. Afteremptyingthe 2-in-1 water tank, rinseit out
at afaucetwith runninghottap water,taking care
tocleanunderneaththe heavyduty bladder,and
all around it. Cleanout lint trap.
3. Replacethe 2-in-1 water tankon the machine.
4. Cleanoutthe flow indicatorfiltereachtime it isused
toensurebestcleaningperformance.Unscrewthe
flow indicatorcap,liftoutthe redrotorandwhite
filter.Rinseall _ree partswith water.Replacethe
filterand rotor.Replacetheflow indicatorcap.Turn
untilsnug,donotover-'tighten.
5. Anyloosehairor debriscan be pulledfrom the
brush roll if desiredand thrown away.
6. Wipethemachine'sexteriorwith a soft cloth.
7. Aftercarpet is dry,vacuum againto remove
hairandfuzz.

YourPowerSteamer machine comes equipped
with a hose and at least one attachment for
cleaning stairs, upholstery, and more.
1. Important!If usingto cleanUpholstery,check
UpholsteryTags.
A, Checkmanufacturer'stag beforecleaning.
"W"or "WS" onthe tagmeansyou can
useyour PowerSteamer.Ifthe tag is coded
with an"X" oran "S" (witha diagonalstripe
throughit),or says"Dry CleanOnly",do not
proceedwith any deepcleaningmachine.Do
notuseonvelvetor silk.If manufacturer's
tagis missingor notcoded,checkwith your
furnituredealer.
B. Checkforcolorfastnessinaninconspicuousplace.
C. Ifpossible,checkupholsterystuffing.Colored

D. Planactivitiestoallowupholsterytimetodry.
E. Vacuumthoroughlyto pickuploosedebrisand
pethair.Useavacuumwith abrushattachment
andacrevicetooltocleaninfabricfolds.

2-in-1 water tank and the formula tank.
3. Setreadytoolsdialtothetoolsor pretreatsetting.This
will allowsprayanddivertthesuctiontothehose.
4. SetSmartMixdialto normal.
5. Attach thecleaningtool tothe endof the hose.
6. Plugin and turn on the powerswitch.
7. Cleanby pressingthetrigger tospray solution
ontotheareato becleaned.Slowly movethetool
backand forth overthesoiled surface.Release
thetrigger tosuction soiledwater.Continueto
cleanin the area,working in small sections, until
nomoredirt can be removed.Rinse(optional)and
suctionas needed.Caution:Dono overwet.
8. Whencleaning iscomplete,removeand rinse
toolsin clean, runningwater.
9. Coilhosearoundthetool caddy.
10. Empty2-in-1 water tank and rinse out,following
theinstructionson page 11.

2. 6entlyscrapeup anysemi-solidswith a spoonor
spatula. Donot usea knife or other utensilwith

3. Iftheareahasdried,removethe remaining
semi-solidsand residuewith asweeperor vacuum.
4. Besure totest anyspot removalformulasin an
inconspicuousareafirst.This is importantas some
dyesand materialscouldbedamagedor discolored

try adifferent solutionor call a professional.
5. Ifcleaningon Berbercarpeting,gentlyrunyour
machineovera hiddenarea.If nofuzzing occurs,
continue cleaningin soiled area.
6. Usingthe BISSELLToughStainPreCleaner,spray
evenlyoversoiled area.Donot overwet.Wait3-5
minutes.Gentlywork the solutionby blotting area

Hardfloorcleaning
Your PowerSteamer model may have come with
a hard floor attachment and Hard Floor Solutions
Formula. If not,these products are available for
purchase by contacting the BISSELLConsumer
Services department by phone or on the website.
The hard floor tool provides effective cleaning for
linoleum, vinyl, and tile floors.
Caution:Do not use on unsealed hardwood floors.
1. Vacuumor Sweepthoroughlyto pick up any loose
debrisand pet hair.
2. Moveanyfurniture,if needed.
3. Emptyany carpet cleaningformula backinto the
BISSELLbottleif stored in the formula tank. Fill
formulatank with BISSELLHardFloorSolutions,
availableat manyretailers,or contact BISSELL
ConsumerServices.
4. Fillthe 2-in-1 watertankwith hot tapwaterand
setaside.
5. Attachthehardfloortoolontothefloor nozzlewith
thelongtabtotheright sideof thefloornozzle.First
attachleft side(shorttab)catchingtabovernozzle
edge.Gentlybendlongtab(rightside)outwardto
easilysnapoveredgeofclearnozzleonleft.
6. Setthe readytools dialto floor cleaning.
7. Setthe SmartMixdial to normalclean.
8. Pluginto anoutlet andturn the powerswitch
ON(I).
9. Slowlymovethemachineforwardand backover
barefloorsurfaceonetimewhilepressingtrigger.
Caution:Do notoverwet.
10. Repeatthemotionwithout pressingthe trigger.
This allows the hardfloor tool to squeegeeand
suctionup thedirty water.
11. Allow approximately30 minutesfor floors to dry.
12. Removehardfloor tool and rinseanddry
beforestoring.
13. Ifany formula remainsin the formula tank,pour
it backinto the HardFloorSolutionsbottlefor use
thenext time.
