SIM CARD
Your Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card
identies you to the wireless network. Your
smartphone will not work without the SIM
card. To insert the SIM card and battery:

To turn your smartphone on or off,
press and hold the End key.
BLACKBERRY ID
BlackBerry ID gives you quick and
easy access to a variety of BlackBerry
apps and services including the
BlackBerry App World™ storefront.
Create a BlackBerry ID using an email
address and a password of your
choice. Use it to access any product
or service that supports BlackBerry.
SETUP APPLICATION
The setup application appears when you
rst power on your smartphone. Use it
to set up features such as email, Wi-Fi®,
Bluetooth®, and social networking.

If the setup application does not
appear when you power on your

Charge using a USB wall charger
Connect the small end of the charger
cable to the micro-USB port on the left
side of your smartphone. Plug the other
end of the charger into a wall outlet.
Charge using a USB cable
Disconnect the USB cable from the
charging head. Connect the small end
of the USB cable to the micro-USB port
on the left side of your smartphone.
Plug the other end of the USB cable
into the USB port of your computer.
Note: Your computer’s USB port must
supply more than 130mA.

Typing tips
To capitalize a letter, press and hold
the letter key until the capitalized
letter appears or press the Shift
key and then the letter key.
To enter the alternate character on
a key, press the Alt key and then
the character key. For example, to
enter a question mark (?), press the
Alt key and then press the Vkey.
To enter a symbol, press the Symbol
key. To view more symbols, press
the Symbol key again. Enter the
letter that appears below the symbol.
To enter an accented or special
character, press and hold the letter
key and slide your nger left or
right across the Trackpad until the
character appears. For example,
to enter Ä, press and hold the A
key and slide your nger across
the Trackpad until Äappears.
To turn on NUM lock, press
the Alt key and then press the
Left Shift key. To turn off NUM
lock, press the Shift key.
To turn on CAPS lock, press
the Alt key and then press the
Right Shift key. To turn off CAPS
lock, press the Shift key.

Lock your keyboard
To lock your keyboard, press the Lock
key on the top of your smartphone.
Set a password
1. From the Home screen,
press the Setup icon

4. Select Set Password,
and follow the prompts.

CALL FUNCTIONS
Make, answer & end calls
To make a call, press the Send key,
enter the phone number, and then press
the Send key again to initiate the call.
To answer a call, press the Send key.
To end a call, press the End key.
Turn on mute and speakerphone
While on an active call, select
Mute or Speaker.
To turn off, select Mute Off or Handset.

Set incoming call ringtone
1. From the Home screen, select the
Sounds and Alerts Proles icon.
2. On the Select a Prole screen,
select Change Sounds and Alerts.
3. Select Phone Ring Tone.

VISUAL VOICEMAIL
Visual Voicemail allows you to play and
replay voice messages in any order,
save messages to your smartphone,
choose how you want to respond to
messages, share special messages via
email, and create personalized greetings.
Set up Visual Voicemail
1. From the Home screen, select All.
2. Select the Setup icon.
3. Select Visual Voicemail.
4. Select Setup.
5. Select Next.
6. If required, enter a new password
and verify the password.
7. Select Next.
8. Select OK.
9. Select the Greeting Type
drop-down menu.
10. Select Personal. You can also
select Standard or Name.
11. Press the Trackpad to begin
recording your message.
12. Press the Escape key when nished.
13. Select Next.
14. Select where you want your
voicemail to appear.
15. Select Next.
16. Press the End key to exit.
4. Select the Volume drop-down menu.
5. Select the desired setting.
6. Press the Menu key.
7. Select Save.
Silence ring and

Copy contacts from SIM

Add a new contact

3. Enter the contact’s information.
4. Press the Menu key.

Call a contact from the
contacts list
1. From the Home screen,
select the Contacts icon.

and then scroll to the desired

Check Visual Voicemail
1. From the Home screen, select All.

Reply to a Visual Voicemail
1. From the Home screen, select All.

3. Scroll to the desired voicemail
and press the Menu key.
4. Select Call or select Reply As and

T-MOBILE CONTACTS
BACKUP
T-Mobile Contacts Backup is a free service
that backs up your T-Mobile contacts
on your smartphone to My.T-Mobile.
com and vice versa each time you add/
edit/delete them. If your smartphone is
damaged, lost, stolen, or if you upgrade
to another T-Mobile device–you’re
covered. You can manage your T-Mobile
contacts from your smartphone or
from the web via www.My.T-Mobile.com.
This service does not back up
contacts from other sources.

If you want to create a new
BlackBerry email account, select
Create New Address. Enter your
username, which will appear
before @tmo.blackberry.net,
your password, and security
question. Select Continue
Set up work email
If your company is using a BlackBerry
Enterprise Server, then you can set up
your smartphone to receive work email
from Microsoft®Outlook®, or IBM®Lotus
Notes®.
If you have the Enterprise Activation
password from your system
administrator, perform the following:
1. From the Home screen, select All.
2. Select the Setup icon.
3. Select Email Accounts.
4. Select Enterprise Account.
5. Enter your email address
and activation password.
6. Select Activate.
If you do not have an Enterprise
Activation password from your system
administrator, then you must install the
BlackBerry®Desktop Software on your
computer and then synchronize your
work email with your smartphone.
EMAIL
Set up personal email
1. From the Home screen, select All.
2. Select the Setup icon.
3. Select Email Accounts.
4. Select Internet Mail Account.
5. If necessary, follow the on-
screen instructions to enter or
create a new Blackberry ID.
6. Read the Service Agreement
and if you agree to the
terms, select I Accept.
7. If you want to set up the email
account you used to sign in to
BlackBerry ID, enter the email
account password and select
Continue. You can also select
Set up another email account.
8. Perform one of the following:
To access personal email from
accounts such as Yahoo!®,
Gmail®, Hotmail®, and AOL®,
select the desired provider
or select Other. Enter your
email address and password
and select Continue. Select
Continue again to synchronize
contacts and nish setting up
your account. You can add
up to 10 email accounts.

TEXT MESSAGING
Send a text message
1. From the Home screen, select
the Text Messages icon.
2. Press the Menu key.
3. Select Compose Text Message.
4. Select OK.
5. In the To: eld, do one
of the following:
Enter the phone number.
Enter the contact’s name. When
the name appears below the To:
eld, select the name from the list.
Press the Menu key. Select
Choose Contact and then select
the contact. You can send a
message to up to 10 recipients.
6. Scroll to the
message eld
and enter your
message.
7. Press the
Enter key
to send or
press the
Menu key

1. From the Home screen, select
the Messages icon.

To read email messages:
1. From the Home screen, select
Messages or select the
Notications bar.
2. Select the message you want to view.
3. Press the Menu key to Reply,
Forward, or Delete a message.

To unsubscribe from emergency
alert messages:
1. On the home screen, select
the Messages icon.
2. Press the Menu key.
3. Select Options.
4. Select Emergency Alert Messages.
5. Clear the checkbox for the type of
message you want to unsubscribe
from. You can’t unsubscribe from
presidential alert messages.
WI-FI®CALLING
Turn Wi-Fi on or off
1. Scroll to the top of your Home screen
and press the Trackpad to open
the Manage Connections screen.
2. Select or clear the Wi-Fi check box.
Connect to a Wi-Fi network
1. Scroll to the top of your Home screen
and press the Trackpad to open
the Manage Connections screen.
2. Select Wi-Fi Network.
3. Select Turn on Wi-Fi, if necessary.
4. Select the desired network.
5. Enter the passphrase and select
Connect, if necessary.
Read text messages

Personal Localized Alerting Network
(PLAN) is a new public safety system that
allows customers who own an enabled
mobile device to receive geographically-
targeted, text-like messages alerting them
of imminent threats to safety in their area.

When Mobile Hotspot mode is turned
on, the indicator appears in the
connections area at the top of the
home screen.
Note: The Smartphone Mobile HotSpot
service cannot be active at the same time
as Wi-Fi. Please close your active Wi-Fi
connection prior to launching service.
SYNCHRONIZATION SETUP
You can install the BlackBerry®
Desktop Software to synchronize
your smartphone with your computer.
You can use BlackBerry Desktop
Software to do the following:
Charge your smartphone.
Synchronize data (contacts, calendar
entries, tasks, and memos) between
your smartphone and computer.
Synchronize media les (music,
pictures, and video).
Back up and restore smartphone data.
Transfer les between your
smartphone and computer.
Add applications to your smartphone.
Set up and manage email forwarding
or wireless calendar synchronization*.
MOBILE HOTSPOT MODE
Turn your smartphone into
a mobile hotspot
When you turn on Mobile Hotspot mode
and access Smartphone Mobile HotSpot
service, you can use your smartphone
as a mobile hotspot so that other Wi-Fi
enabled devices can use the mobile
network connection on your smartphone.
Before you use your smartphone in
Mobile Hotspot mode, read the latest
safety and product information at
www.blackberry.com/docs/smartphones.
Also, to use your smartphone’s mobile
hotspot capability, you must have
the Smartphone Mobile HotSpot
service added to your rate plan.
From the home screen, touch the
connections area at the top of the screen,
or select the Manage Connections icon
To turn on Mobile Hotspot mode
select the Mobile Hotspot checkbox.
You also need to have your Mobile
Network connection and your
Wi-Fi connection turned on.
To view information about your mobile
hotspot or change options, select
Networks and Connections, then
select Mobile Hotspot Connections.

Turn on the Bluetooth feature
and pair with a Bluetooth
enabled device
1. Scroll to the top of your Home screen
and press the Trackpad to open
the Manage Connections screen.
2. Select Networks and Connections.
3. Select Bluetooth Connections.
4. Select the Bluetooth drop-down menu
and then select On, If necessary.
5. Select Add New Device.
6. If desired, change your smartphone
name and select OK.
7. Select Search.
8. Select the device to connect.
9. If necessary, enter the PIN
and press the Trackpad.
FM RADIO
Listen to FM Radio Stations
You can listen to the FM Radio app using
wired headphones or the speakerphone,
but you need to keep the wired head-
phones plugged in.
1. From the home screen, select
the Media icon, then select
the FM Radio icon.
To turn on the radio, select
the Play icon.
To download and install BlackBerry
Desktop Software, please visit
http://t-mobile.com/bbupgrade and
follow the on-screen instructions.

486 or higher computer that is compliant

BLUETOOTH®
Your smartphone comes with Bluetooth
technology, which is a wireless
technology that enables a data
connection between your smartphone
and a Bluetooth wireless headset and
other Bluetooth enabled devices (sold
separately).
Prepare a Bluetooth
wireless device
To pair your smartphone with a
supported Bluetooth enabled device,
make sure that your device is fully
charged and that you put it in pairing
mode. For more information see the
manual that came with your Bluetooth
enabled device and see the Safety
and Product Information Booklet for
Bluetooth radio specications.

your smartphone, and to

select All > web2go®
to search the Web,
customize your start page,
and access your T-Mobile
account information.

select All > Browser to
visit Web pages or view
the browser bookmark list.
From the Home screen,
select All > Camera to take
pictures or record videos.

to view saved music,
ringtones, videos, pictures,

To turn off the radio, select
the Stop icon.
To seek the next or previous radio
station, select the Next icon

To change the radio station using
the radio dial, highlight the radio
dial and then slide your nger
left or right on the trackpad.
To move to a specic radio station,
select the radio station frequency
number. In the Tune to Station
dialog box, slide your nger
up or down on the trackpad to
change the numbers. Select OK.
To scan for stations, select the
Play
icon, the press the Menu key
and select Scan Stations.
To add a station to your favorites,
while listening to a station,
select the Favorites icon.
To listen on your speakerphone,
select the Speakerphone icon.
