12V TRICKLE CHARGER
INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT Read these instructions fully before using the appliance.
Retain these instructions for future reference.

Warning:
Always attach the crocodile clips to the batteryprior to plugging into the mains powersupply.
This trickle chargerdoesnot have reverse polarity protection.Incorrectlyconnecting the batterywhilst the plug is
connectedtothe mains powersupply will cause irreversible damage to the charger and may damage the battery.
Note this trickle chargeris not intendedtocharge a flat batteryquickly. It could take anythingfrom60 to 100
hours dependingonamp hours of the battery. The plug unit may getwarm during the charging process, this is
normal.
Warning! Do notattemptto start the vehicle withthe chargerconnected, thismay damage the trickle charger
and/orthe battery. This unit is not fitted with any indication of batterycondition or charge. Itwill therefore not
indicate when the battery is fully charged or automatically switch off when it is.
Connecting the Charger tothe Battery:
Always connect the positive charging lead(RED) to the positive post of the battery (marked+ / +ve or P) first.
For batteriesstill installed in the vehicle: Note,do not use an extension leadand stand the chargerin the engine bay.
Connectthe negative charging lead (BLACK) to the vehicle chassis, wellaway fromthe battery, fuelline, hot or
movingparts. Once the clips are connectedto the battery plug the trickle chargerinto the powersupply.
For Batteries Removedfromthe Vehicle:
Always connect the positive charging lead(RED) to the positive post of the battery (marked+ / +ve or P) first.
Connectthe negative charging lead (BLACK) to the negative postof the battery(marked - / -ve or N).
Afterconnecting the clips, rotate themslightly so as to remove anydirt or oxidization,ensuring good contact.
Once the clips are connectedto the battery plug the trickle chargerinto the powersupply.
If the powersockethasa switch turn it on.
Disconnection
Switch offthe mains supplyand unplugthe charger.
Disconnectthe clips, Negative (BLACK lead) –ve first, followed bythe Positive (Redlead) +ve.
If the batteryhasbeen removed forcharging, replace it and re-connectthe cables.
Returns andWarranty
Should your appliance notwork or is damagedwhenyoufirst take it out of the carton, returnit to the retailer with
the packaging and proof of purchase.

implied guarantee void. Keep this manual forfurtherreference.

•Do not use any attachmentsoraccessories otherthan those supplied with the appliance.
•This product is not forcommercial use.
•Keepaway fromwaterand moist environments.
•This product is not a toy. Keepawayfrom children.
•Keepout of direct sunlight.
•Do not disassemble, adaptoralter the product. There are no serviceable internalparts.
•Clean witha dry cloth, do not use liquids or detergents.
•Remove jewellery when usingthis product.
•Nevertouchthe redand black clips together, this will cause a shortcircuit and may damage the appliance.
•This product is a trickle charger,not a float charger, do not keep it permanently connected.
Battery Safety
Lead-acid batteries can be verydangerous. Batteries can generate flammable gases during the normal charging
operation. Carefully read the warnings below.
•Read the warningson the battery and the vehicle for model-specificinstructions.
•This charger is intended to be used on lead-acid batteries, any other type of batteries may cause damage to the
charger or battery. If unsure of the batterytype contact the supplier of the batteryfor confirmation.
•Neverallowthe positive (+) andnegative (-) terminals on the batteryto connecttogether.
•Ensure adequate ventilation whenchargingto ensure thatgases can escape.
•Do not charge the batteryin freezingconditions.
•Wear eye protection andprotective gloves whenworkingwith lead-acid batteries.
•Ensure the batteryis in goodcondition and clean before charging. This can be checked usingthe battery
manufacturer’s instructions.
•If the batterywill nothold a charge have it checkedby a garage,the battery mayneed replacing.
•If the batteryswells,smokesorexpelsany substances, disconnectthe power to the chargerif safe todo so and
leave the area immediately.
•Ensure that the car is switched off, the key out of the ignition and the engine is cool.
•Most cars are ‘negative grounded’ which means thatthe chassis of the car is grounded tothe negative terminal
of the battery. Refer to your manufacturer’s instructions to check. These charging instructions are for a negative
groundedbattery.
