Technical and electrical knowledge required
The installation time is 0.5 - 3.5 hours but this may vary depending on the condition
of the car and the equipment in it.

1. Important information on installing the CD changer in the E53
Only for use in the BMW dealer organisation.
The CD changer may only be installed by a specialist workshop that has the required special
tools and manuals (servicing, repair, diagnostics, etc.).
All the work is shown for the left-hand side of the car and must be repeated on the
right-hand side.

In cars with an on-board monitor radio the control cable is only installed in the boot.

In cars with a BMW Professional hi-fi system DSP amplifier only the coaxial cable for the
Professional hi-fi system DSP amplifier/CD change must be installed in the boot.

Ensure that the cables/lines are not kinked or damaged as you install them in the car.
Additional cables/leads that you install must be secured with cable ties.
If the specified PIN chambers are occupied, bridges, double crimps or twin-lead terminals
must be used.

5. Installation and cabling diagram

The power supply wiring harness A , the control cable B , the control cable C , the coaxial cable
D and the adapter cable E are to be installed as shown in the figure and secured with cable ties.
When installing the power supply wiring harness A start with branches A1 and A2 .
Branches A1 , A2 and A3 to the left side panel in the boot
Branch A4 to the CD changer in the boot on the left
Branch B1 to the installation site of the radio / connect to branch E2
Branch B2 to the CD changer in the boot on the left
Connect branch C1 to branch E2
Branch C2 to the CD changer in the boot on the left
Branch D1 to the DSP amplifier in the boot on the left
Branch D2 to the CD changer in the boot on the left

6. To install audio module holder
(only required for cars without an audio module holder)
0Place the audio amplifier holder (10) on the stud
bolt M6 (30) and secure it with two hexagonal nuts
M6 (18). Screw the hexagonal screw M6x10 (15)
into the thread M6 (31) in the rear closing panel.
0Place two speed nuts M5 (14) on to the audio
amplifier holder (10).
0Insert the holder for the boot at the rear left (7) and
secure it with two hexagonal screws M5x14 (13)
and one hexagonal screw M6x10 (15).
0Place two speed nuts M5 (14) into the hole in the
holder for the boot at the rear left (7).
