small tree stumps are hidden in the
dense grass.

ated (cordless) power tool.
Work area safety
uKeep work area clean and well lit.
Cluttered or dark areas invite acci-
dents.
uDo not operate power tools in ex-
plosive atmospheres, such as in
the presence of flammable liquids,
gases or dust. Power tools create
sparks which may ignite the dust or
fumes.
uKeep children and bystanders
away while operating a power
tool. Distractions can cause you to
lose control. Never operate the
power tool while people, especially
children, or pets are nearby.
Electrical safety
uPower tool plugs must match the
outlet. Never modify the plug in
any way. Do not use any adapter
plugs with earthed (grounded)
power tools. Unmodified plugs and
matching outlets will reduce risk of
electric shock.
uAvoid body contact with earthed
or grounded surfaces, such as
pipes, radiators, ranges and refri-
gerators. There is an increased risk
of electric shock if your body is
earthed or grounded.
uDo not expose power tools to rain
or wet conditions. Water entering a
power tool will increase the risk of
electric shock.
uDo not abuse the cord. Never use
the cord for carrying, pulling or un-
plugging the power tool. Keep
cord away from heat, oil, sharp
edges or moving parts. Damaged
or entangled cords increase the risk
of electric shock.
uWhen operating a power tool out-
doors, use an extension cord suit-
able for outdoor use. Use of a cord
suitable for outdoor use reduces the
risk of electric shock.
uIf operating a power tool in a damp
location is unavoidable, use a re-
sidual current device (RCD) pro-
tected supply. Use of an RCD re-
duces the risk of electric shock.
Personal safety
uStay alert, watch what you are do-
ing and use common sense when
operating a power tool. Do not use
a power tool while you are tired or
under the influence of drugs, alco-
hol or medication. A moment of in-
attention while operating power
tools may result in serious personal
injury.
uUse personal protective equip-
ment. Always wear eye protec-
tion. Protective equipment such as
a dust mask, non-skid safety shoes,
hard hat or hearing protection used
for appropriate conditions will re-
duce personal injuries.

uPrevent unintentional starting. En-
sure the switch is in the off-posi-
tion before connecting to power
source and/or battery pack, pick-
ing up or carrying the tool. Carry-
ing power tools with your finger on
the switch or energising power tools
that have the switch on invites acci-
dents.
uRemove any adjusting key or
wrench before turning the power
tool on. A wrench or a key left at-
tached to a rotating part of the
power tool may result in personal in-
jury.
uDo not overreach. Keep proper
footing and balance at all times,
never run. This enables better con-
trol of the power tool in unexpected
situations.
uDress properly. Do not wear loose
clothing or jewellery. Keep your
hair and clothing away from mov-
ing parts. Loose clothes, jewellery
or long hair can be caught in moving
parts. Always wear substantial foot-
wear and long trousers while operat-
ing the power tool.
uIf devices are provided for the con-
nection of dust extraction and col-
lection facilities, ensure these are
connected and properly used. Use
of dust collection can reduce dust-
related hazards.
uDo not let familiarity gained from
frequent use of tools allow you to
become complacent and ignore
tool safety principles. A careless
action can cause severe injury within
a fraction of a second.
Power tool use and care
uDo not force the power tool. Use
the correct power tool for your ap-
plication. The correct power tool
will do the job better and safer at the
rate for which it was designed.
uDo not use the power tool if the
switch does not turn it on and off.
Any power tool that cannot be con-
trolled with the switch is dangerous
and must be repaired.
uDisconnect the plug from the
power source and/or remove the
battery pack, if detachable, from
the power tool before making any
adjustments, changing accessor-
ies, or storing power tools. Such
preventive safety measures reduce
the risk of starting the power tool ac-
cidentally.
uStore idle power tools out of the
reach of children and do not allow
persons unfamiliar with the power
tool or these instructions to oper-
ate the power tool. Power tools are
dangerous in the hands of untrained
users.
uMaintain power tools. Check for
misalignment or binding of moving
parts, breakage of parts and any
other condition that may affect
the power tool’s operation. If dam-
aged, have the power tool repaired

before use. Many accidents are
caused by poorly maintained power
tools.
uKeep cutting tools sharp and
clean. Properly maintained cutting
tools with sharp cutting edges are
less likely to bind and are easier to
control.
uUse the power tool, accessories
and tool bits etc. in accordance
with these instructions, taking
into account the working condi-
tions and the work to be per-
formed. Use of the power tool for
operations different from those in-
tended could result in a hazardous
situation.
uKeep handles and grasping sur-
faces dry, clean and free from oil
and grease. Slippery handles and
grasping surfaces do not allow for
safe handling and control of the tool
in unexpected situations.
Battery tool use and care
Remove the battery pack
– whenever the machine is left by
the user
– before clearing a blockage
– before checking, cleaning or work-
ing on the machine
– after striking a foreign object to in-
spect the machine for damage
– if the machine starts to vibrate ab-
normally, for immediately check
uRecharge only with the charger
specified by the manufacturer. A
charger that is suitable for one type
of battery pack may create a risk of
fire when used with another battery
pack.
uUse power tools only with specific-
ally designated battery packs.Use
of any other battery packs may cre-
ate a risk of injury and fire.
uWhen battery pack is not in use,
keep it away from other metal ob-
jects, like paper clips, coins, keys,
nails, screws or other small metal
objects, that can make a connec-
tion from one terminal to another.
Shorting the battery terminals to-
gether may cause burns or a fire.
uUnder abusive conditions, liquid
may be ejected from the battery;
avoid contact. If contact accident-
ally occurs, flush with water. If li-
quid contacts eyes, additionally
seek medical help.Liquid ejected
from the battery may cause irritation
or burns.
uDo not use a battery pack or tool
that is damaged or modified. Dam-
aged or modified batteries may ex-
hibit unpredictable behaviour result-
ing in fire, explosion or risk of injury.
uDo not expose a battery pack or
tool to fire or excessive temperat-
ure. Exposure to fire or temperature
above 130°C may cause explosion.
uFollow all charging instructions
and do not charge the battery pack
or tool outside the temperature
range specified in the instruc-

tions.Charging improperly or at tem-
peratures outside the specified
range may damage the battery and
increase the risk of fire.
Service
uHave your power tool serviced by a
qualified repair person using only
identical replacement parts. This
will ensure that the safety of the
power tool is maintained.
uNever service damaged battery
packs. Service of battery packs
should only be performed by the
manufacturer or authorized service
providers.
Safety Notes for Garden Tool
Operation
uThe operator must use the product in
accordance with the regulations. The
local conditions must be taken into
account. When working, pay atten-
tion to other people, especially to
children.
uNever allow children, persons with
physical, sensory or mental limita-
tions or a lack of experience and/or
knowledge and/or people unfamiliar
with these instructions to use the
product. Local regulations may re-
strict the age of the operator.
uChildren should be supervised to en-
sure that they do not play with the
product.
Application
uWhen working with the machine,
always hold it firmly with both
hands and provide for a secure
stance. The garden tool is guided
more secure with both hands.
uAlways wait until the machine has
come to a complete stop before plac-
ing it down.
uNever operate the machine with a
defective protection guard/cover or
without safety device. Ensure that
these are properly mounted. Never
use the garden tool when incomplete
or after unauthorised changes.
uNever operate the machine if the
cord is damaged or worn.
uNever replace non-metallic cutting
elements with metal cutting ele-
ments.
uNever repair the garden tool yourself
unless you are qualified to do so.
uOther persons and animals should
remain or be kept a suitable distance
away when using the garden tool.
The operator is responsible for third
parties in the work area.
uWait until the cutting head has com-
pletely stopped before touching it.
The cutting head continues to rotate
after the trimmer is switched off; a
rotating cutting head can cause in-
jury.
uWork only in daylight or in good arti-
ficial light.

uAvoid operating the trimmer in bad
weather conditions especially when
there is a risk of lightning.
uOperating the trimmer in wet grass
decreases the efficiency of perform-
ance.
uWhen transporting, switch the ma-
chine off and remove the battery.
uAlways ensure a safe working posi-
tion when working with the trimmer.
Always keep your hands and feet at a
safe distance from rotating parts.
uKeep the balance all the time while
trimming to prevent falling over.
uTake care when placing product on
floor, as it may become a trip hazard.
uRemove the battery before replacing
the spool.
uInspect and maintain the trimmer
regularly.
uAlways wear gloves when cleaning
product or replacing cutting means.
uBe careful of injuries from the blade
used for cutting the cutting line.
After feeding cutting line, always re-
turn the trimmer to a horizontal
working position before switching
on.
Switch the machine off and remove
the battery.

uStore the product in a secure, dry
place out of the reach of children. Do
not place other objects on top of the
product.
uDo not use the garden tool as a walk-
ing stick.
Recommendations for Optimal
Handling of the Battery Pack
uDo not open the battery. There is a
risk of short-circuiting.
Protect the battery against
heat (e.g., against continu-
ous intense sunlight), fire,
water, and moisture. There is a risk of
explosion.
uIn case of damage and improper
use of the battery pack, vapours
may be emitted. Ventilate the area
and seek medical help in case of
complaints. The vapours can irritate
the respiratory system.
uOnly use the battery with products
from the manufacturer. This is the
only way in which you can protect
the battery against dangerous over-
load.
uThe battery can be damaged by
pointed objects such as nails or
screwdrivers or by force applied
externally. An internal short circuit
may occur, causing the battery to
burn, smoke, explode or overheat.
uDo not short-circuit the battery.
There is a risk of explosion.

uOccasionally clean the venting slots
of the battery using a soft, clean and
dry brush.
Safety Warnings for Battery
Chargers
Read all safety warnings
and all instructions. Failure
to follow the safety warnings
and instructions may result in electric
shock, fire and/or serious injury.
Save all safety warnings and instruc-
tions for future reference.
uUse the battery charger only when
you fully understand and can per-
form all functions without limitation,
or have received appropriate instruc-
tions.
uNever allow children, persons with
physical, sensory or mental limita-
tions or a lack of experience and/or
knowledge and/or people unfamiliar
with these instructions to use the
battery charger. Local regulations
may restrict the age of the operator.
uSupervise children at all times.
This will ensure that children do not
play with the battery charger.
uCharge only Bosch lithium-ion bat-
teries with a capacity above 1.5 Ah
(with at least 5 rechargeable battery
cells). The battery voltage must
match the battery charging voltage
of the charger. Do not charge non-re-
chargeable batteries. Otherwise
there is a danger of fire and explo-
sion.
Keep the battery charger
away from rain or moisture.
Penetration of water in the battery
charger increases the risk of an elec-
tric shock.
uKeep the charger clean. Dirt poses
a risk of electric shock.
uAlways check the charger, cable
and plug before use. Stop using
the charger if you discover any
damage. Do not open the charger
yourself, and have it repaired only
by a qualified specialist using only
original replacement parts. Dam-
aged chargers, cables and plugs in-
crease the risk of electric shock.
uDo not operate the charger on an
easily ignited surface (e.g. paper,
textiles, etc.) or in a flammable en-
vironment. There is a risk of fire due
to the charger heating up during op-
eration.
uDo not cover the ventilation slots
of the battery charger. Otherwise,
the battery charger can overheat and
no longer operate properly.
uFor increased electrical safety, we
recommend using a residual current
device with a max. tripping current
of 30 mA. Before using, always
check your residual current device.

Intended Use
The garden tool is intended for domestic use, for trimming
grass, weeds and nettles. It is designed for trimming grass
growing on slopes, under obstacles and lawn edges that can-
not be reached by the lawn mower. The garden tool is not
designed for use as a brush cutter. The garden tool is not in-
tended for commercial or industrial use.
