Electrical System
Battery Information
Your 255 Conque t i equipped with

BATTERY BOX LOCATION:
The battery boxe are located under the aft cockpit
hatch. Batterie hould alway be enclo ed in the cov-
ered battery boxe provided with your boat. The box
will contain any pilled acid, a well a protect the
battery terminal from damage or inadvertant hort-
ing from coming in contact with metal object . Each
battery box hould alway be ecured in place by u -
ing the trap and clamp provided, the trap will
en ure that while underway the battery will not move
around, cau ing damage to component tored in the
ame area.
Battery Maintenance
Battery maintenance hould include:
In pect each battery and charging y tem be-
fore u e; for loo e connection or wiring.
Coat the terminal with dielectric grea e.
Keep the batterie dry.
Remove the batterie from the boat during cold
weather or long term torage.
The mo t life hortening experience for the battery
i to be drained to zero charge before recharging.
When a battery di charge , the active material on both
po itive and negative plate convert to lead ulfate,
cau ing the plate to become more alike in an elec-
trical charge. The electricity conducting battery acid
become weaker and the voltage drop . A the bat-
tery remain di charged, the proce continue until
recharging the battery become impo ible.

Never reset a breaker without first determining and
correcting the cause of the trip. Should a circuit re-
peatedly trip, have a qualified electrician determine and
correct the cause.
Never use an open flame in the battery storage area.
A void striking sparks near the battery
A battery will explode if a flame or spark ignites
the free hydrogen given off during charging.
The battery should always be disconnected before doing
any work or maintenance on the electrical system.
If equipped with a battery switch, you will need to stop
the engine before moving the switch to the “OFF” posi-
tion.
Batteries contain sulfuric acid which is dangerous and
can cause serious injury.AVOID contact with skin, eyes
and clothing. If contact occurs, immediately flush the
affected area with large quantities of water and call
for medical assistance.
Always store the battery in the the battery box. Use the
straps and clamp to keep the box secure while under-
way.
