In 1958, company founder Richard T. Fi her introduced the fir t Bo ton Whaler boat in Braintree,
Ma achu ett . It featured two ignificant innovation : fir t, it twin pon on hull de ign produced uperior
tability and a remarkably dry ride; econd, it unique foam core con truction made the boat not only du-
rable, but un inkable a well.
Fi her took every opportunity to illu trate the unique characteri tic of the Bo ton Whaler. Hi mo t famou
demon tration wa captured in 1961, by Life Magazine. The erie of photograph howed the boat under-
way, the boat being awed in half and ultimately Fi her motoring away in the remaining half of the boat. And
through the year many other demon tration have proved the toughne and durability of the Bo ton Whaler
hull. And though you may never cut your boat in half, thi only goe to how one thing, people who e

Our Hull
Bo ton Whaler® hull are con tructed with our pat-
ented Unibond con truction. Thi involve hoot-
ing high den ity foam into a clo ed mold y tem.
The foam expand to fill void in the hull, and when
the fini hed product i pulled from the mold, the deck
and the hull are chemically bonded to form a olid,
in eparable unit.

The deck drain provides self-bailing capabilities while the
boat is static in the water and no passengers on board.
This feature prevents the accumulation of water in the
cockpit. the drain must be in place when underway.
NOTICE
!
Depending on the type of boat you have, you may
have underwater fittings that need drain plugs.
Garboard drain plugs and fishbox drain plugs need
to be in place before the boat goes into the water.
Any fitting that will be underwater needs to be
plugged or the seacock needs to be closed
NOTICE

Through hull fittings should be checked for proper
seal annually. When the boat is in the water the un-
derwater fittings can be checked for dripping. It is
recommended that the underwater fittings be re-
moved, cleaned and resealed every other year.
NOTICE
!
If the through hull fittings need to be replaced, it is
recommended that an authorized Boston Whaler ®
dealer perform this type of repair.Through hull fit-
tings that are improperly installed can cause pre-
mature hull failure and may void the Boston
Whaler® limited warranty.

Be aware of your footing while the boat is underway,
slipping or falling could result in serious injury or death,
especially if the boat is in motion or in rough seas.
Keep the accomodation deck clean, so if movement
is neccessary it will be free of obstruction.

The 255 Conque t fuel fill i located in the port ide
of the gunwale, it i marked GAS, and i opened
by u e of a pecial key that i included with the
owner manual packet.
Follow the engine manufacturer recommendation
for the type of fuel and oil to u e.
uel Vent
The fuel tank ha a fuel tank vent located amid hip,
7-9 inche below the rub rail directly below the fuel
fill cap . The fuel tank vent erve a a pre ure/
vacuum relea e, afety overflow and flame arre tor.

Check the vent a embly regularily a part of a main-
tenance chedule for continued afe operation of your

CAUTION
!
Leaking fuel is a fire and explosion hazard, inspect the
system regularly. Examine fuel tanks and exposed lines
for leaks and corrosion.
DANGER
!
Check for leaks in tubing, connections and hoses. Cor-
rect the cause of the leaks and ventilate the area to
insure that no fumes remain, prior to energizing any
electrical equipment and/or starting the engines.
CAUTION
!
Use of improper gasolines can damage your engine se-
riously. Engine damage resulting from use of improper
gasoline is considered misuse of engine and will void
the warranty. Follow engine manufacturer ’s recommen-
dations regarding the types of fuel and oil to use.
CAUTION
!
Oil and fuel spills can be dangerous and can subject
offenders to severe penalties
NOTICE
!
Remove portable tanks from boat and fill from shore.
When fueling is complete, secure tanks to deck with
straps provided.
DANGER
!
Static electricity can ignite gasoline vapors causing
serious injury/death and/or destruction of property.
NOTICE
!
Fuel tanks should never be filled to capacity, allow 2%
for expansion.

pu h the fuel vent fitting out. The fuel vent ha four
creen that are held in by a ring. U e a mall pick to
di lodge the ring to remove the creen and clean a
required.
EMPTY TANK:
A fuel tank with level le than 1/4 full can cau e
problem by talling an engine due to fuel tarvation
or by allowing ediment and dirt to enter the fuel
upply line . Keeping the tank filled will reduce the
chance of thi occurance; ince the re idue will mo t
likely ettle to the bottom of the tank. Monitor the
fuel level often to prevent thi from happening.
HOSES AND FITTINGS:
Ho e and fitting hould be in pected at lea t every
100 hour . Check the ho e for crack , abra ion and
deterioration and the trong mell of fuel prior to
tarting the engine( ). If the ho e or fitting are dam-
aged or worn, replace them with only marine grade
replacement part . Your authorized Bo ton Whaler®
dealer will have all the part information you will
need.
TANK CLEANING:
Exce ive water and ediment may force you to con-
ider having the tank profe ionally cleaned. If you
are frequently changing fuel filter/water eparator
and notice a lo in power, con ult a profe ional
tank cleaning contractor regarding thi procedure and
proper di po al of re idue and water.
PRIMER BULB:
There i a primer bulb that can be acce ed in the
port ide of the motorwell. There are al o in truction
regarding proper u e of the primer bulb. The primer
bulb i u ed to draw fuel from the tank to the engine,
u ually after the fuel ha been drained from the en-
tire y tem.
Remote Oil System
The 255 Conque t i equipped with a remote oil y -
tem. Thi y tem con i t of a ingle 3- Gal.(11.3L)
re ervoir tank and ho e which contain and meter
lubricating oil to the engine. There i a econd tank
added when the dual engine option i u ed. The tank
ha an external fill located on the aft ide of the cock-
pit tran om wall. Acce to the tank can be reached
through the motorwell acce hatch. When recapping
the fill make ure that it i ecure to prevent pill

 Fuel carried on-board out ide of a fixed fuel y -

in a portable tank uch a provided for outboard

 Shut down the engine( ), motor and fan prior to
taking on fuel. Any ignition ource hould be ex-
tingui hed before filling the fuel tank( ).

 Fueling hould never be done at night except in
well-lighted area .

fuel fill plate or the edge of the fuel tank opening

BATTERY BOX LOCATION:
The battery boxe are located under the aft cockpit
hatch. Batterie hould alway be enclo ed in the cov-
ered battery boxe provided with your boat. The box
will contain any pilled acid, a well a protect the
battery terminal from damage or inadvertant hort-
ing from coming in contact with metal object . Each
battery box hould alway be ecured in place by u -
ing the trap and clamp provided, the trap will
en ure that while underway the battery will not move
around, cau ing damage to component tored in the
ame area.
Battery Maintenance
Battery maintenance hould include:
 In pect each battery and charging y tem be-
fore u e; for loo e connection or wiring.
 Coat the terminal with dielectric grea e.
 Keep the batterie dry.
 Remove the batterie from the boat during cold
weather or long term torage.
The mo t life hortening experience for the battery
i to be drained to zero charge before recharging.
When a battery di charge , the active material on both
po itive and negative plate convert to lead ulfate,
cau ing the plate to become more alike in an elec-
trical charge. The electricity conducting battery acid
become weaker and the voltage drop . A the bat-
tery remain di charged, the proce continue until
recharging the battery become impo ible.

Never reset a breaker without first determining and
correcting the cause of the trip. Should a circuit re-
peatedly trip, have a qualified electrician determine and
correct the cause.
Never use an open flame in the battery storage area.
A void striking sparks near the battery
A battery will explode if a flame or spark ignites
the free hydrogen given off during charging.
The battery should always be disconnected before doing
any work or maintenance on the electrical system.
If equipped with a battery switch, you will need to stop
the engine before moving the switch to the “OFF” posi-
tion.
Batteries contain sulfuric acid which is dangerous and
can cause serious injury.AVOID contact with skin, eyes
and clothing. If contact occurs, immediately flush the
affected area with large quantities of water and call
for medical assistance.
Always store the battery in the the battery box. Use the
straps and clamp to keep the box secure while under-
way.

Your 255 Conque t u e a pair of battery elector
witche to control delivery of DC power from two
batterie . The battery witche are located on the
tarboard bulkhead in the aft cockpit compartment.
The dual battery witch ha four (4) etting :
 OFF, you will have no power to the
engine( ).
 ALL, you will have power from both bat-
terie at the ame time. Thi parallel the bat-
terie to a i t you in tarting the engine( ),
once the engine i tarted the battery witch
hould be taken off of the ALL etting, and
et to charge either battery .
 1, you will have power from the port bat-
tery only.
 2, you will have power from the tarboard
battery only.
When the engine i hut down or not providing a
charge, the y tem will allow i olation of the tar-
board (hou e) battery. Thi will allow you to run all
the boat function without affecting the port bat-
tery. You can run the hou e battery flat and till tart
the engine.

Your 255 Conque t i equipped with a 12 volt acce -
ory receptacle located on the ide pocket witch
panel. It i a DC (cigarette lighter) tyle receptacle
to be u ed with any 12 volt acce orie u ing thi
type of plug. The receptacle i made of corro ion re-
i tant marine grade material and ha a moi ture
proof cap. There i a 10 amp breaker button located
ju t above the receptacle. Be sure to use accesso-
ries that do not exceed the rated capacity of the
circuit, (10 amps or the breaker will trip.
