External Host Connection
The included USB-B to USB-C cable can be used to
connect a host computer to the USB-B port on the back of
the smart hubs for running your configuration software of
choice, such as Apple Provisioning Utility, or GroundControl.
Internal Host Compartment
Larger 10L and 20L models can be optionally re-configured
for use with an internal host Mac mini (2018), which can be
connected and secured in the internal storage compartment.

Before You Begin
Please ensure the following:
•The PowerSync Pro Gen. 2 Smart Hub is disconnected
from any power source, with the power switch in the OFF
position.
•The unit is empty with no devices loaded into it.
•The device cables are not yet installed.

1. Flip the unit upside down onto a soft surface, such as a
cloth, or towel, taking care to avoid scratching the unit.
2. Remove the screws to the internal host storage
compartment and set aside.
3. Remove the access panel to the internal host storage
compartment.
4. Disconnect the USB-B cable that connects the external
USB-B passthrough port to the hub internals. This is only
used for connecting a host computer externally and is
not used in this configuration.
5. Insert your Mac mini (2018) into the storage
compartment. The Apple logo should be facing away
from you into the interior of the compartment, while the
circular foot of the Mac mini should be visible to you.

6. Connect the Mac mini to:
(i) the integrated IEC (“figure-8”) power cord
(ii) the internal USB-B port
(iii) the external USB-C passthrough port to allow
peripherals to be connected to the Mac mini
7. Replace the access panel and secure using the screws
that were previously removed.

1. Remove cables from packaging and connect the USB-A
connector ends to the USB-A device ports on the top
surface of the unit.
2. Locate the steel cable retention bracket(s) that ships
included with your PowerSync Pro Gen. 2 Smart Hub.
10-port models include a single bracket, while 20-port
models include two.
3. Lower the bracket(s) over the device cables, making sure
the tabs of the bracket are inserted into the slots on the
inside wall(s) of the smart hub.
4. Secure the retention brackets using the security screws
included in the hardware pack that ships with each unit.

Important Information
Safety Notice
Electrical The socket-outlet shall be
installed near the equipment and!shall be
easily accessible.
Avoid sparks. Avoid arcing. Always turn OFF
the power to the unit before plugging IN or
OUT! Be sure each device is turned OFF
before plugging into the cart.
For safety purposes, make sure all electrical
components do not exceed the maximum
load rating of 12 amps.
Risk of electrical shock. Do not plug the
power cord into another extension cord or
relocatable power tap.
Do not unplug this product from the outlet
when your hands are wet.
Do not plug the unit in if the switch,
receptacle(s) or power cord has been
damaged.
Contact Bretford before attempting to make
any type of electrical repair or parts
replacement.
Caution Ventilation is critical for
PowerSync Pro products to operate
correctly, Do not block the ventilation
holes on the unit. Proper air flow is
required for safe operation of
equipment.
Install and operate the tray in an
environment compatible with the
maximum ambient temperature of 25°
C or 77° F.
This product it is not designed for
outdoor use.
Liquids should not be stored in, set on
or placed inside this unit.
Product must be plugged into socket
with an earthing connection.
