1.0 PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TheLB-HDMI/DE-CH AudioDe-embedderhasbeenspecificallydesigned
formountingin theLB-CHchassis (Figure1),it allowstheuser toextract
audio signals from an HDMI source. When connecting an HDMI signal
to a TV or display the best audio is not always available, or in the case
of a PC monitor, there is no audio at all available. Thus, with the
LB-HDMI/DE unit the usercan take the originalHDMI audio signaland
convertit todigitaloptical oranalog Stereo(L/R)audio.This meansthat
there is an audio output available to external speakers or to audio
processinghardware, or to extendthe audio signalpathway.

2.0 OPERATION CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS
2.1 Front Panel
2.1a Front Panel, Revision A
1. L/R Out:Connect to audioequipment suchas an amplifier
or active speakers with a stereo 3.5mm cable for audio
output.Supports unbalancedanalog stereo outputonly.
2. Link LED: TheLink LEDwill illuminate ingreen whenboth
the source and monitor is connected and has established
a link. This LED will also blink once while the power is
turnedon.
3. HDMI In: Connect to a source device such as a
DVD/Blu-ray player with anHDMI cable.

2.2 Circuit Board
1. Power: Switches the unit ON or puts the device into standby
mode.
2. TV/Bitstream/2CH LPCM: This switch allows users to select
thesource’s audio EDID.
TV Mode: Switch to TV mode for the HDMI source to output
audioper theEDIDof connectedTV orAVreceiver,supportsup
to LPCM 7.1 channels.
BitstreamMode:Switch toBitstream modeforthe HDMIsource
to output Bitstream audio per the built-in EDID, supports up to
compressedaudio 5.1 channels.
2CH LPCM Mode: Switch to 2CH LPCM mode for the HDMI
sourceto output LPCM2 channels audioper the built-in EDID.
3. Optical Out: Connectto audio equipmentsuch asan amplifier
or Hi-Fi system with an optical cable for digital audio output.
Supportsbit-stream up to audio5.1CH and LPCM2CH.
4. HDMI Out:Connect tothe displaywith anHDMI cable forvideo
andaudiosignal output.No HDMIoutputconnection isrequired
to send audio through the analog and optical outputs.

3.0 STAND-ALONE BOX ENCLOSURE
Forthe LB-HDMI/DE, besidesthe chassismount version, itdoes come
ina whiteplastic stand-alonebox enclosure. The connectors, switches
and functions are all the same but it does come with its own 5VDC
powersupply. Allother functionalityis asdescribed inSections 1.0 and
2.0of thismanualare indentical. Figure2 belowshowsthe Stand-alone
boxenclosure.

4.0 MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING
4.1 Maintenance
Thereis nooperator maintenance otherthen keepingthe units
clean.
4.2 Troubleshooting
IftheLB-HDMI/DEunitsdonotoperateproperlyafterinstallation,
check for possible cable breaks, loose connections, and
incorrect cable connections. If a problem exists on the fiber
link,please checkyour fiberconnectors forimproperly cleaned
fiber cables and connectors. If problems persist that may be
fiber related, contact BCI at 1-800-214-0222 for further
assistance.
For electrical problems, perform the following troubleshooting
procedures:
1. If the POWER indicator is OFF, check for the following:
a. The line cord is plugged into the unit and your outlet
haspower.
