Description
Optimisedforversatilityandcomfort,theSNUGisourpremierrecreationalharnessfeaturingasemi-crossbrace
system,ourEASYEXITreservedeploymentsystem,asmoothaerodynamicshape,18cmfoamprotection,andsome
vibrantnewcolourschemes.Weighingonly3.2-3.5kg,theSNUGisastrippeddown,EN-certiedharnessthatjust
performsreallywell.

IalwayswantedaharnessthatIdon’tfeel.Inthebeginning,harnessesweredividedintotwocategories:standard
harnessesandABSorcross-bracedharnesses.Thestandardharnessesconnectedthepilotalmostdirectlytothe
risersmakingthemveryunstableandtooradicalforoccasionalpilots.Thefullycross-bracedharnessesweretoo
restrictive;pilotscouldn’tfeelanimminentcollapsecoming.TheSNUGismyperfectbalance;withthesemi-cross
bracesystemIfeelseamlesslyconnectedtomywingyetstableenoughtorelax.

Reserve Parachute Installation
Werecommendthataqualiedprofessionalshouldalwaysperformtheinstallationandre-packingofthereserve
parachute.
ThesizeofthereservepocketontheSNUGissuitableforreserveparachutesupto10cmx20cmx25cmdimensions.
Ifitisnotpossibletoconnecttheharnessreservehandletotheloopsontheparachutedeploymentbaginsidethe
pocket,pleaseconsultyoursupplierwhomaybeabletosupplyanalternativedeploymentbag.Loopscanbesewnat
anappropriateplaceonanydeploymentbag,butonlyaqualiedpersonshouldcarrythisout.
WARNING!
Afterinstallationofareserveparachuteintheharness,itisabsolutelyessentialtodoasimulateddeploymentundera
staticswing,ensuringthattheparachutereleasesystemoperatescorrectlyandtheparachutecomesouteasily.The
elasticcordswhichclosethereservepocket,mustbecheckedregularly.Ifthecordisworn,itmustbereplaced.Each
timeareserveparachuteisinstalled,checkthatthecordisingoodorderbyapplyingaloadof10kg.
Beforeeachight,checkthatthepinandhandlearelocatedcorrectly.

Connect the reserve handle to the
reservewithalarksfootknottothe
middlelooponaside.Ensurethat
thestrapislongenoughtoallowthe
plasticrodstobepulledoutrst.
Usingthelinesprovided(locatedintherearpocket),threadbotheyeletsin
sequenceusingtheprintednumbersforguidance.
Insertthereservewiththehandle
attachmentfacingtheseatboardand
the lines straight underneath.
Attachtheharnessbridlestothe
parachute’sbridleusingasuitable
connector(notsupplied).

Makesureyouperformapracticethrowfromastatichangpoint.Notonlydoesthisensurethecorrectfunctioningof
yourdeploymentsystem,butitalsoallowsyoutobecomemorefamiliarwiththeinstallationprocess.
Please note, the parachute can only be deployed with the right hand.

Pullthereserveoutofitspouch. Ifyouareusingthereserveindistress
inmostcasesyoushouldthrow
thereserveawayfromyourglider,
harness,andtheground.
Grabthehandleandpullitawayfrom
the harness.

Lumbar adjustment
Amorereclinedpositionreducesthestabilityoftheharnessandpotentiallyincreasestheriskoftwistingunderthe
wing.
Shoulder strap adjustment
Adjusttheshoulderstrapssoyouarecomfortableinbothyingandstandingpositions.Thestrapsmayappearloose
whileintheseatedpositionbutsomeplayisrequiredtoavoidexcessivestrappressureinthestandingposition.
Chest strap adjustment
UsinganautobalancesystemorABS,whenthecheststrapistightenedthegeneralrollstabilityoftheharnesswill
increase.Ifthecheststrapisloosenedthegeneralrollstabilitywilldecrease.TheABSbuiltintotheSNUGallowsthe
pilottoadjusttherollstabilityoftheharnessdependingonhowtheyfeelintheair.
Speed system adjustment
Thespeedsystemshouldbeadjustedtothecorrectlengthusingaharnesssimulator.
Warning: The accelerator line must not run through the reserve handle. The accelerator line must run inside the
tube just above the reserve handle of the harness.
We recommend adjusting the SNUG harness under a static swing before ight.

Pre-ight checks
PARAGLIDINGISANEXTREMELYDEMANDINGSPORTREQUIRINGTHEHIGHESTLEVELOFATTENTION,
JUDGEMENT,ANDSELFDISCIPLINE.NODETAILSHOULDBEOVERLOOKED.
Werecommendperformingthefollowingpre-ightchecksbeforeeveryight.Pre-ightchecksareinnowaylimited
tothefollowinglist.
• Checkthekarabiners,andmakesurethatthetwistlocksystemclosesthemautomatically.
• Checktheharnessbuckles;theyshouldlockautomatically.
• Adjust the harness using a harness hanger or simulator. When adjusting under the simulator you should
familiariseyourselfwiththeharnessanditsparts.Testalladjustments;studythepositionanduseofthe
reserve handle.
• Checkthatthereservehandleandthepinsareinthecorrectpositionandthatthepinsgetpulledbeforethe
reserve container strap.
• Ensurethattherearenotwistsinthelinesandrisersthatconnecttheharnesstotheglider.
• Checkchest,sideandshoulderstrapadjustments.
• Ensurethatallbucklesarelocked.
• Checkyourreservehandle.

Use
Beforeyingitisextremelyimportanttoadjusttheharnesssothatyoucaneasilyassumeasittingpositionwhen
airborne.
1. Put the harness onto your shoulders.
2. Fastenthelegbuckles,andthenthecheststrapbuckle.
3. Pushthelegstrapsdownasfaraspossibletowardstheknees,andthentightenthem(ifthelegstrapsare
toohigh,itisdifculttogetintotheharnessafterthetake-offwithoutusingyourhands).
4. Ifnecessary,adjusttheshoulderstraps(theshoulderstrapadjustmentdependsonthesizeofthepilot;not
tootightassomefreemovementisrequiredsothatyoucanruneasily).
5. Checkthatthelumbarstrapsareadjustedsoastoenablethepreferredpositioninight.
6. Checkthatthecheststrapispre-adjustedcorrectly.
7. Ensurethatthelegstrapsandthecheststrapbucklesarefastenedcorrectly(closingthebucklesincorrectly
isacommoncauseofaccidents).
Landing
Duringthenalapproachwerecommendrepositioningyourselffromthesittingpositiontotheuprightposition.This
shouldbedoneearlyenoughtoallowforsuddenlossofheightonapproach.Thebackprotectionisnotintendedfor

normallandings,howeverifthebackprotectionisusedforlanding,intentionallyorunintentionally,werecommenda
fullrevisionbeperformedontheharnessbyatestcentre,orBruceGoldsmithDesignGmbH.
WedonotrecommendusingtheSNUGharnessoveropenbodiesofwaterwithoutpropersafetyequipment
includingbutnotlimitedto,alifejacket(withcollar),asafetyboatanddriver(enginerunningandincommunication),
SIV instructor.

PropermaintenanceoftheSNUGharnesswillmaximizethelongevityofthisproduct.
• AvoidexcessiveexposuretoUV,heatandhumidity.
• Alwayspacktheharnessdry
• Alwaysstoreinacool,dryenvironment.
• Never drag your harness.
• Keepyourharnesscleanofdirt,oilsandanycorrosivesubstance.
• Usewaterandaclothtoclean.
ReplacementpartscanbeorderedfromyourBruceGoldsmithDesigndealer.
Forsafety,routineinspectionsofallofyourequipmentisvitallyimportant.BruceGoldsmithDesignrecommendsa
serviceintervalof24monthsinadditiontotheusualpre-ightchecks.
Forinspection,visuallycheckthestitching,webbingandallstructurallyimportantareas.Payparticularattentionto
thewebbingaroundthehangpointareaunderthekarabiner,asthisiswhereabrasionismostlikely.
Ifyoundanydamageorifyouareinanydoubtmakesuretheharnessischeckedbyaprofessionaloraskus.

Anydamagedpartsshouldberepairedorreplacedbythemanufacturer.Anyrepairsperformedbyanyoneother
thanthemanufacturerwilldeemtheharnessuncertied.
Werecommendthekarabinersbeingreplacedevery5years.
Thesekarabinersshouldneverbeusedforanythingotherthanparagliding(ie.climbing,towing,etc.).
Thezipfastenersshouldbelubricatedfromtimetotime,usingasiliconespray.
Theharnessmaybecleanedusingmildsoapandasoftbrush.Ifyourharnessgetswet,itisadvisabletotreatyour
automaticbucklesandkarabinerswithsiliconegrease.

ThecompanyBruceGoldsmithDesignGmbH,referredtoasBGD,takesthegreatestcareindesignandproduction
ofitsproductsandproudlyoffers2yearsor200hourswarranty,fromthedateofpurchaseagainstmanufacturing
defects.
InordertoenjoyanybenetsoftheBGDwarranty,youarerequiredtocompletethewarrantyformonthewebsitein
the“Warranty”section,within14daysofpurchase.Onlyafullycompletedwarrantyformwillbeacceptedtovalidate
thiswarranty.
Inordertosettleawarrantyclaim,BGDmustbenotiedimmediatelyafterdiscoveryofadefectinwritingand
theaffectedproductmustbesenttoBGDforinspection.BGDwillthendecidehowapossiblefaultshouldbe
repaired,eitherthroughrepair,replacementofpartsorreplacementoftheproduct.SolelyBGDoranagreedservice
centreshouldundertakerepairorreplacementofthedamagedparts.Ifunapprovedthirdpartiesundertakerepair
work,therewillbenoentitlementtocompensationunderthiswarranty.Theownerisnotentitledtoreplacement
equipmentduringthewarrantyclaim.
Somedegradationofmaterialsduetowearandtearistobeconsiderednormalandwillbeexcludedfromclaims.
Claimsduetocarelessorincorrectuseoftheproductincludingaccidents,inadequatemaintenance,unsuitable
storage,damagebysolvents,fuel,chemicals,sandorseawater,overloading,exposuretoextremetemperatures,or
prolongedsunexposureandcolourfadingarealsoexcluded.
TheclaimforwarrantyserviceexistssolelybetweentheowneroftheequipmentandBGD.Thewarrantyobligations
onlyapplytoprivatesportandleisuretimeactivities,notforuseforcommercialpurposes.Ifyouareunsureabout
anyinformationcontainedinthismanual,pleasecontactyourBGDdealer.Warrantiesarenullandvoidtoanyone
other than the original purchaser.
