suitablesupervision,butthefollowingcommentsdescribehowtogetthebestfromyourADAM.
Weight range
EachsizeoftheADAMiscertiedforacertainweightrange.Theweightreferstothe‘overalltakeoffweight’.This
meanstheweightofthepilot,theglider,theharnessandallotherequipmentcarriedwithyouinight.
WerecommendtoytheADAMinthemiddleoftheweightrange.
IfyouytheADAMonthelowerhalfoftheweightrange,theturningagilitydecreasesandthegliderwillbemore
damped.Instrongturbulencethewingtendstodeformandtocollapseslightlymorethanwithahigherwingloading.
IfyoumainlyyinweakconditionsyoushouldconsideryingtheADAMonthelowersideoftheweightrange.
IfyouytheADAMintheupperhalfoftheweightrange,theagilityandthestabilityinturbulencewillincrease.
Alsothespeedwillincreaseslightly.Theselfdampingwilldecreaseinturns,aswellasaftercollapses,soifyouyin
bumpyconditionsandyouwantadynamicightcharacteristicyoushouldgoforthetopoftheweightrange.
Active Piloting
EventhoughtheADAMisdesignedasaneasyglider,‘activepiloting’isatoolthatwillhelpyouywithgreater
safetyandenjoyment.Activepilotingisyinginempathywithyourparaglider.Thismeansnotonlyguidingtheglider
throughtheairbutalsobeingawareoffeedbackfromthewing,especiallyinthermalsandturbulence.Iftheairis
smooththefeedbackcanbeminimalbutinturbulencefeedbackiscontinuousandneedstobeconstantlyassessed
bythepilotthroughthebrakesandtheharness.Suchreactionsareinstinctiveingoodpilots.Maintainingcontact
