The 5/8PortGigabitEthernet switch providesnon-blocking,wirespeedswitchingforyour10,
100,and1000 megabitnetworkclients.Dropthisswitchinplace ofyourcurrentworkgroup
hubor switch, andyoucanupgradeyourhigh-requirementworkstationstofull Gigabitspeeds
asnecessary,while continuingtoserviceotherclientsat theircurrentspeeds,orbuildyour
networkfromthegroundup,withappropriatelink speedsforeachuser’s requirements.Either
way,it’sperfect for graphicsprojects,multimedia,andotherapplicationsthatneedtomove
largefilesacross thenetworkquickly.Withthe 5/8PortGigabit Ethernet switch,youcan
connect yourexisting10/100 EthernetnetworktoaGigabit serverbackbonewithoutany
additional equipment.All portshaveautomatic MDI/MDIXdetection,soinstallationisworry
free.Eachportindependentlyand automaticallynegotiatesforbestspeedandwhethertorun
inhalf or full-duplexmode.

Install the5/8PortGigabitEthernet Switchinafairlycoolanddry place.See Working
Environment for theacceptable operatingtemperatureandhumidityranges
InstalltheSwitchinasitefree fromstrongelectromagnetic sources,vibration,dust,and
direct sunlight.
Leaveat least10cmof spacetoboththeleftand rightof theswitchfor ventilation.
Visuallyinspect theDCpowerjackandmakesurethepoweradaptercordissecurely
connected.

YourNetwork

TheseportsalsosupportautomaticMDI/MDIXdetection,which
givestheSwitchtrue‘plug andplay’capabilities. Justconnect any
networkcable fromadevicetotheswitch,andtheswitchwill
automaticallydetectthesettingsofthedevice andadjustitself
accordingly.

3.Troubleshooting
1.The PowerLEDis notlit
CheckiftheACpowercordiswell connected.Try tounplugandplugbackinthepower
cord totheLAN Switchor tryanotherpower outlet.
2.The Link LEDis notlit
Makesurethenetworkconfigurationofconnecting deviceiscorrect,andnetworkcardand
driversareinstalledcorrectly.
Checkthecableconnections.
Makesurethecable distance betweentheSwitchandotherIEEE802.3compatible
networkdevice doesnotexceed100meters.
3. Performanceis bad
CheckthestatusofEthernet switching.IfEthernet switching isset tofull-duplexon one
device butapartneris set tohalf-duplex,thenperformancewillbepoor.
Makesurethecablebetweentheswitchand otherIEEE802.3compatible networkdevice is
Category5UTPorbetter.
4. Some devicescan’t talk tootherdevicesonthenetwork
Checkstatusof theLinkLEDstomakesuredevicesarelinked.
Makesurethat thedevices'networkconfigurationsarecorrect.
Resettheswitchifneeded.
