Product Overview
The BTG B3 is a touch-screen POCSAG watch pager. The watch operates in UHF band
between 420MHz and 470MHz and has an operational distance of 200 metres in an open area
with direct line-of-sight. It is capable of receiving Alphanumeric messages up to a maximum
length of 128 characters. Each POCSAG message will auto-wrap on the display.
Programming can be done either via PC or by hand and can be password protected to prevent
the settings being changed during use.
The watch pager has a replaceable wrist strap allowing multiple users to use the same watch
pager hygienically. Each strap is capable of withstanding a pulling force of 15Kgs.

Time Calibration: Following a period of continual use, it is possible that the Watch Pager may
require some small adjustment in order to calibrate it against deviation. This allows ultra-precise
time-keeping. The calibration is done across a 30-day time-frame and is entered in seconds. For
example, if the watch is 2 seconds slower, then the calibration should be entered as 2 seconds.
If it is 2 seconds faster, then the value to enter should be -2 seconds.
Backlight Time: Adjust your preferred backlight illumination time up to a maximum of 240
seconds
Alarm Clock: Set to suit your requirements using hours and minutes using the 24-hour clock
format. e.g. 9:30 pm is set as 21:30.
Up to 3 separate alarms can be set per watch pager.
Auto Clear Time: This refers to the number of seconds that messages remain on the device.
The screen can display up to 3 message lines. They will remain on the device until they are
deleted by the user or auto-erased when the clear-out time is reached.
Buzzer Volume: The Buzzer volume can be adjusted between 1 & 10, where 1 is minimum
volume and 10 is maximum.

Prompt Mode: Select either buzz, audible alarm (beep) or screen illumination, to indicate that a
message has been received.
Normal/High Power Level: In Normal Power Mode the pager will consume more power and
standby time (prior to charging) will be reduced. However, the sensitivity of the pager will be
higher and it will be more likely to receive messages over a greater distance.
Low Power Level: Using Low Power Mode will prolong the charge and the use of your watch
pager before it needs re-charging. However, please note that the pager will be less sensitive to
incoming messages and the transmission range from the transmitter will be shorter
Factory Reset: All personal settings will be erased if this option is selected. It is recommended
this is only selected as a last resort.
Do Not Disturb: Use with caution. If selected, the watch pager will not receive any messages.

The network icon on the top left if the screen will change to on the watch until the same
icon is pressed for a second time on the home screen which will now turn the “Do Not Disturb”
off.
About Me: This function gives the name of the watch and the firmware version that has been
installed.
Upgrade Program: This upgrades the firmware to the latest available version. An upgrade
requires a file programmer and two cables; it is recommended that your watch is returned to
BTG for this operation.
NB: The following settings are password protected to prevent the settings being changed. If
settings are changed the watch may not be able to receive the pager message sent by the
transmitter and the system rendered inoperable. It is recommended that only Administrators of
your organisation have access to the password protected screen menu.
The parameters for receiving messages are accessible from this icon on the home screen:

Frequency: The frequency bandwidth is 420-477 MHz. However, it is important that it is paired to
the frequency of your transmitter. We recommend BTG or Salcom transmitters
Baud Rate: The available options are 512, 1200 or 2400 bps.
The baud rate is the rate at which information is transferred in a communication channel. In the
serial port context, "1200 baud" for example means that the serial port is capable of transferring
a maximum of 1200 bits per second. The baud rate setting must be set to the same baud rate
as on the transmitter that you are using.
CapCode: POCSAG messaging (or paging) addresses pagers through CapCodes (sometimes
called RIC’s), which is the address assigned to a Pager.
Your watch pager can store up to 8 different CapCodes (Channel Access Protocol numbers)
so that it can receive a number of messages, and from one or more transmitters using the
same CapCode, frequency & baud rate.
It is recommended that only Distributors or BTG change your settings in these fields.
If your watch is password protected, you need to contact BTG directly or your distributor.

Your watch pager can store up to 30 messages. When the number exceeds message #30, the
oldest message will automatically be erased by any new message received.
Each message may contain up to a maximum of 128 characters, whether letters, numbers or
symbols.
Messages will auto-wrap when longer than the screen can display in a single line.
To manually delete messages, you can select either of the following options/icons:
Daily Care
The watch is IP51 resistant against dust and water. However, the watch is not resistant against full
immersion in water. Full immersion will permanently damage your watch.
It is recommended that the watch screen is cleaned regularly with a soft lens cleaning cloth. Harsh
or abrasive fabrics should not be used.
Your watch will automatically cease charging when the battery is full. It is recommended that when
the battery is fully charged, the watch be unplugged from the charger cable in order to preserve
battery life.
Do not attempt to open the watch in any way. Any opening of the watch case shall render the
warranty void. There are no user replaceable parts inside the device.
