Chapter 1 Installation
Installing Wireless Drivers
Follow the instruction below to install drivers. Do not connect the AirStation to your computer yet.
1 Boot your computer and insert the AirNavigator CD.
The setup menu will launch automatically. If not, open the CD and click "AirNavi.exe".
2 Click [Begin Installation].
3 Click [AirStation Wireless LAN Adapters].

4 Disable any firewalls and click [Next].
5 Click [Install].
Note: If you are using Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista, check "Client
Manager V" to install Client Manager V after installing the drivers.
6 Click [Next].

7 Read the license agreement, select [Agree], then click [Next].
8 Check "Always trust software from "BUFFALO INC.", and click [Install].
9 When the screen below is displayed, attach the AirStation to your computer.
Drivers will be installed automatically.
Note: If a message such as "Your wireless adapter is available 300Mbps Mode." is displayed, click [OK].

10 After the drivers are installed, the screen below will be displayed. Click [Finish].
Drivers are now installed.
Installing the Utility
Follow the procedure below to install Client Manager V.
Note: Client Manager V is not compatible with Windows XP.
1 Click [Options].

2 Click [Advanced Installation].
3 Check the box for Client Manager V and click [Install].
4 Click [Next].
5 Read the license agreement, select [I accept the agreement], then click [Next].

6 Click [Finish].
7 Click [Back].
8 Click "X" at the top right corner of the window to close it.
Client Manager V is now installed.

Chapter 2 Connect to a Wireless Network
AOSS/WPS Connection
AOSS and WPS are systems which enable you to automatically configure wireless LAN settings. Just pressing the
buttons will connect wireless devices and complete security settings. Utilize this system to connect to wireless
devices, computers, or game machines which support AOSS or WPS.
AOSS (AirStation One-touch Secure System) is technology developed by Buffalo Technology. WPS was created by
the Wi-Fi Alliance.

If you are using Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista, use Client Manager V to
connect to an access point wirelessly using AOSS or WPS as detailed in the procedure below.
Client Manager V is available from the CD. For the procedure on how to install Client Manager V, refer to chapter 1.
1 Start Client Manager V.
2 Click [Create Profile].
Note: If the User Account Control screen is displayed, click [Yes] or [Continue].

3 Click [WPS AOSS].
When "Connection has been Completed" is displayed, your connection is established. If "Set Network Location" is
displayed, select "Home", "Work", or "Public location" depending on the environment in which the AirStation will be
used.
WPS PIN Connection
WPS can use a PIN generated by the Client Manager V utility to easily connect to an access point that supports WPS
PIN.
If you are using Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista, use Client Manager V to
connect to an access point wirelessly using AOSS or WPS as detailed in the procedure below.
Client Manager V is available from the CD. For the procedure on how to install Client Manager V, refer to chapter 1.
1 Start Client Manager V.
2 Click [Create Profile].
Note: If the User Account Control screen is displayed, click [Yes] or [Continue].

3 Click [Advanced Setup].
4 Click [WPS-PIN].

5 Carefully copy the PIN to a piece of paper, then click [Next].
6 Select the access point to connect to, then click [Next].

7 The following screen will be displayed.
8 Use a PC with a wired Ethernet connection to log in to the access point's management utility.
Note: If the access point you are trying to connect is a Buffalo AirStation, click [Wireless] > [WPS] from Settings.
The screen to enter the PIN code will be displayed.
9 Navigate to the WPS PIN configuration screen, then enter the PIN that you wrote down in step 5.
Note: If the access point you are trying to connect is a Buffalo AirStation, enter the PIN into the "Enrollee PIN"
field and click [OK].
When "Connection has been Completed" is displayed, your connection is established. If "Set Network Location"
is displayed, select "Home", "Work", or "Public location" depending on the environment in which the AirStation
will be used.
10 Save the profile.

Connecting Manually (Using Client Manager V)
You may also connect to an access point manually, without using AOSS or WPS.
If you are using Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista, use Client Manager V to
connect to an access point wirelessly using AOSS or WPS as detailed in the procedure below.
Client Manager V is available from the CD. For the procedure on how to install Client Manager V, refer to chapter 1.
1 Start Client Manager V.
2 Click [Create Profile].
Note: If the User Account Control screen is displayed, click [Yes] or [Continue].
3 Click [Advanced Setup].

4 Click [Connect Manually].
5 Select your access point, then click [Next].

6 Enter your network type, security type, encryption method, and encryption key (passphrase), then click
[Connect].
When "Connection has been completed" is displayed, your connection is established. If "Set Network Location"
is displayed, select "Home", "Work", or "Public location", depending on the environment in which the AirStation
will be used.
7 Save the profile.
Setting Up Manually (Using Windows Utility)
You can connect to an access point without installing or using Client Manager V. Windows includes a built-in
wireless utility. The procedure varies depending on the version of Windows used.
1 Click the network icon in the system tray.
Notes:
• If you're using Windows 8.1 or Windows 8, switch Windows to desktop mode in advance.
• If you're using Windows Vista, click [Connect to a network].
• If you're using Windows XP, click [View Available Wireless Networks].

2 Select the target AirStation's name and click [Connect].
Note: If the screen below is displayed, click [I want to enter the network key or passphrase instead].

3 Enter the encryption key and click [Next], [OK] or [Connect].
Note: If any message such as the following is displayed, click [No, don't turn on sharing or connect to devices].
If the "Set Network Location" screen is displayed, select "Home", "Work", or "Public location" depending where you're
using the AirStation.

Chapter 3 Client Manager V
Software Overview
Client Manager V is a utility software used to connect to an access point on the network or to verify the connection
between an access point and your PC.
Note: Client Manager V is not compatible with Windows XP.
Using Client Manager V
Opening and Closing Client Manager V
• When you install Client Manager V, it will be added to your Startup folder and will automatically launch with
Windows.
• To close Client Manager V, right-click on its icon in the system tray and choose [Close].
• The appearance of the Client Manager V icon varies according to its connection status.
No wireless connection.
Communicating via an access point.
Main Screen
The main screen displays the current connection status. You can perform the following operations from this screen.
Profile
Displays information about the access points that currently connected
to your PC. If you have multiple connection points, you can switch
among them.
Transmission Speed Displays the current connection speed.
Signal Strength Displays the current signal strength.
Create Profile Click to display the automatic secure setup and advanced setup screen.
Advanced Setup Click to display the wireless status screen.
