GETTING STARTED
1. Register
Please register serial numbers for your B16 MOTHERSHIP chassis, and all Daughter Cards.
You must register to activate your warranty! Please visit: www.burlaudio.com/register.
NOTE: Most B16s come pre-assembled. If not, follow steps 2 to 6 for
assembly.
2. Remove Lid
1. Remove 9 screws on top and 2 on each side (Image 1).
2. Push lid up to remove from empty card slot (Image 2).

3. Check Jumper Settings On BMB6

DEFAULT JUMPER SETTING:
4 or 8 inputs for slot 1 and 4 or 8 outputs for slot 2 as shown below.

a BDA8 for 8 outputs.
JUMPER SETTING EXAMPLE: Jumper on A
Jumper set for input channels 1-4 in slot 1, and input channels 5-8 in slot 2 or output chan-
nels 1-4 in slot 1, and output channels 5-8 in slot 2 as shown below.

Image 12: 1U vent above B16 chassis allows for proper ventilation.
4. Install Daughter Cards
Important Installation Notes:
1. Install the 1U vents above the B16 chassis. The MOTHERSHIP MUST run with prop-
er ventilation.
2. Failure to properly vent the MOTHERSHIP chassis above and below may cause fail-
ure, and will void the warrenty.
5. Attach Ribbon Cables To Faceplate
6. Re-attach Lid With All Screws
7. Install Vent ABOVE B16 Chassis
8. Clocking
The B16-BMB clocks off of Internal Clock, External Word Clock or AES Channels 1/2. For
best results, we recommend clocking off of INT, Internal Clock.
1. See card slot numbers and corresponding Inputs and Outputs on page 3.
2. Daughter Cards will ship with wire assemblies already attached to the Daughter
Cards.
3. Make sure the card is inserted into the card guides and properly connects to the
backplane.
4. Pull cables through to the front for connection to the faceplate.
