1. Checklist
Before you start installing the AEP1100/AEP1200, verify the package contains the
following items:

-- LAN Driver Diskette
-- This User's Manual
Please notify your sales representative immediately if any of the aforementioned
items is missing or damaged.
2. Overview
AEP1100/AEP1200 is a PCI Ethernet Board, the PCI bus design allows
AEC1100/AEP1200 to transfer data between the network and station at PCI
system clock speed with high throughput rate. AEP1100 is equipped with ST
multi-mode connectors (Tx, Rx), while AEP1200 is equipped with SC multi-mode
connectors (Tx, Rx). The Link LED will light up when fiber cable connection is
good. The Act LED blinks to indicate the activity status.

3. AEP1100/AEP1200 PCI Bus Configuration
•PCI slot is auto-configured by the system BIOS
•When installing multiple AEP1100/AEP1200 boards at the server station,
you should configure the PCI slots IRQ settings correctly. Up to four
AEP1100/AEP1200 can be installed in a PCI fiber server running NetWare
system. Each AEP1100/AEP1200's IRQ should not conflict with other
installed boards/devices
4. Half Duplex Mode
ST/SC fiber port supports half-duplex mode, the operating mode should match
with the remote link device's working condition and status.

6. Boot ROM Installation
To add the Remote Boot feature to a workstation, insert the Boot ROM into
socket as shown below. Align the notch and pins on the Boot ROM with the
notch and pin receptacles on the ROM socket. Gently push the Boot ROM into
the socket, being careful not to bend the pins.
AEP1100/AEP1200 Boot ROM is auto-configured with PCI slot after your PC is
initialized. The message is:
RPL-ROM-ADR : 0040-C7xx-xxxx (Node ID)
RPL-ROM-IRQ : x (PCI slot IRQ no.)
RPL-ROM-PIO : x000 (PCI slot IO address)
ADR is the Ethernet Node Address of AEP1100/AEP1200. IRQ and PIO are PCI
slot configuration and configured by your system PCI BIOS.
7. Diagnostic & Driver Setup
Diagnostic program lets you test AEP1100/AEP1200 Node ID address, half-
duplex mode, board configuration, or the cable connection between any two
stations. Please refer to the Driver Diskette for more information and LAN driver
setup procedures.
