Campersat - 3G Internet Pack Page 1 H4968 June 2009
Antenna Description
The 4961-10 Campersat Antenna provides multiband
coverage of both Next G & GSM networks combined
with 6.2dBi gain and the Vodafone regional 2100Mz
Band.
Standing 90cm tall, the Campersat antenna is fitted
with a deck mount base which folds in two
directions & also swivels in the opposite plane by
loosening the stainless steel pivot bolt.
This versatility makes the Campersat antenna a
perfect choice for mounting to both recreational &
commercial vessels, a caravan or trailer, to the facia
board of a building, or any flat surface at any angle
desired.
Five metres of RG58 low loss cable side exits from
the aliminium mount ferrule. An SMA Male
connector is fitted to the cable.
Tuning
The antenna has been tuned in the factory to cover
both the Next G & GSM cellular mobile phone
networks combined. VSWR has been optimised to
better than 1.6:1 across the full frequency range 825
to 960 Mhz.
This tuning cannot be altered.
Selecting the Mounting Position
No metal ground plane is necessary for the antenna
to operate effectively.
To achieve best performance from your antenna,
these are important principles you should consider
when selecting the mounting point:
Campersat - 3G Internet Pack
1. Mount the antenna in as high a place as
possible
2. Mount the antenna as far away from other
antennas and metallic objects as possible to
avoid distortion of the 360° omnidirectional
pattern and interference. At least 350mm side
clearance is desirable, preferably more.
3. Set the antenna in a properly vertical
position, not at an angle.
Antenna Installation
Use 4 screws or bolts, washers and nuts to secure
the mounting base firmly in position. To avoid
corrosion, stainless steel screws, bolts, washers
and nuts are highly recommended.
IMPORTANT: Leave some slack in the cable at
the point where the cable exists the mount
ferrule. This will allow you to adjust the antenna
angle without stretching the cable.
Route the RG58 low loss cable carefully. Ensure
that the cable is not stretched excessively, and
there are no sharp kinks. Use cable ties, but do
not pull so tight as to crush the cable. A damaged
feeder cable is a cause of high VSWR and may
reduce performance.
The cable may be cut shorter if desired. However,
a new connector will then need to be fitted using
proper tools.
