WARNING
FOLLOW THE INSTALLAT ION STEPS IN SEQUENCE TO ELIMINATE
ANY POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO THE SYSTEM.
Equipment Needed:
•Adjustable Wrench
•2.5 Liters of Distilled Water
Laser System Unpacking
1. Using the adjustable wrench, remove the front of the crate. Keep the front nearby
to use as a ramp to roll the laser system from the crate.
2. Remove the accessories located on each side of the laser system from the crate.
3. Place one end of the front of the crate on the floor. Butt the other end against the
floor of the crate. Grasp each handle and gently roll the laser out of the crate.
WARNING: Rear wheels must be
locked when removing laser from
crate. Failure to have rear wheels
locked could result in the laser
coming off the ramp.
4. Move the laser to the room that has been prepared for its use. Make sure the
required space and electrical requirements are met. To prevent the laser system
from moving inadvertently, lock each front wheel.

Coolant System Filling
WARNING
DO NOT TURN THE SYSTEM ON WITHOUT FIRST ADDING THE
DISTILLED WATER.
1. Remove the black cap on the reservoir, located on the rear of the laser.
2. Add distilled water up to within ½ to 1 inch of top of reservoir.
Always use distilled water when filling the reservoir. Using water that is
not distilled will result in poor flashlamp performance, and may result in
permanent flashlamp damage.
3. Replace the black cap on the reservoir.
4. Plug the male end of the power cord into the approved outlet.
5. The fluid lines within the laser must now be filled with water. To do this, turn the
system on for 2 minutes. Then repeat steps 1-3 until the water level inside the
reservoir remains at within ½ to 1 inch of top of reservoir.

Initial Cryogen Canister Installation

1. Remove the DCD cryogen canister from the packaging box. Be sure to read all
labels on the canister before installing into the system.
2. Insert canister threaded side down into the opening on the top left side of the laser
system. Turn canister clockwise until hand tight. A small amount of cryogen
might vent out. The sound of the escaping gas may be quite loud. Only after the
canister is fully seated will the gas stop venting out.
3. Place the cylindrical canister cap over the cryogen canister.

Handpiece Assembly Installation
Refer to figure 1 for handpiece assembly system connection locations.

1. Remove the handpiece assembly from the accessory kit package.
2. With the system turned off, place the distal end of the handpiece assembly into
the calport.
3. Connect the handpiece control (round, electrical plug) connector to the handpiece
control receptacle on the front of the laser system.
4. Connect the cryogen output connector to the cryogen output receptacle on the
front of the laser system as follows: Using both hands, push the knurled
connector on the front of the laser system away from you while gently pushing the

mating connector into the knurled connector until it stops. Release the knurled
connector.
Distance Gauge Installation
Refer to figure 2 above for distance gauge location.
Note
The distance gauge must be removed before performing
the calibration procedure.
1. Insert the distance gauge into the distal end of the handpiece delivery system.
Fiber Assembly Installation
Refer to figure 1 for fiber assembly system connection locations.
1. With the system turned off, remove the protective cap on the proximal fiber
receptacle located on the front of the system.
2. Remove the fiber assembly from its package.
3. Remove the cap from the distal end of the fiber. Slide the distal end of the fiber
into the HP Slider until it clicks firmly into place.
4. Insert the proximal fiber connector into the proximal fiber receptacle, located on
the front of the system, until it clicks into place and stops.
5. Refer to the Operator Manual for a description of the controls and indicators.
Footswitch Installation
Refer to figure 1 for foot/fingerswitch connection locations.
1. Remove the footswitch from its package.
2. Attach the tubing end to the bulkhead connector on the rear panel of the laser.

RELOCATION
Care should always be taken when moving the GentleLASE PLUS. The system was
designed to be moved, but special care should be taken when thresholds, elevator
doors, ramps, and other uneven or sloping floor surfaces are encountered. A severe
physical shock could cause the alignment of the laser head or the optical fiber to be
disturbed. Furthermore, if the system is allowed to get out of control when being
moved, personal injury or physical damage could result.
If it becomes necessary to relocate the GentleLASE PLUS, call Candela or the
distributor for details. Failure to do so may result in damage to the system, and may
void any warranty.
