Handling
Cautions
Gamera Care and Storage
(1) The
camera
is
a precision
instrument.Donot
drop
it
orsubject
it
to
physical
shock.
(2) This
camera
isnotwaterproof
andcannotbeusedunderwater.lf
thecamera
gets
reallywet,
promptly
consult
your
nearest
Canon
ServiceCenter.
Wipe
offany
water
droplets
with
adrycloth.
lf
the
camera
hasbeen
exposed
tosaltyair, wipewith
awell-wrung damp
cloth.
(3) Donotleave
the
camera
in
placesprone
toexcessive
heat
suchas
ina carona sunnyday.
Excessiveheat
cancausethecamerato
malfunction.
(4) Thecameracontains
precision
electroniccircuitry.
Never
attemptto

areextremely
thin.
Useonlya blowertoclean
them.
Be
careful
not
toblowairtoo
forcefully
ontheshuttercurtains.
The
shuttercurtainscan
beeasily deformed
or
damaged.Also,
when
loading
andunloading
film,
becareful
not
totouchtheshutter
curtains.
(7) Donot
touchtheelectricalcontacts
with
your
fingers.Othenarise
corrosion
may
developonthecontacts,
resulting
inimproper
camera
operation.
(8) lf
thecamera
isnot
tobeused
for
anextended
period,
remove
the
battery.Storethecamera
ina well-ventilated,cool,dry
place.
During
thestorage
period,press
theshutterbuttontorelease theshuttera
fewtimes
once
in
awhile.

a laboratory, cabinet,etc.,
where
corrosivechemicalsare
present.

LCD Displays
In
time,thecamera'sLCD
panel
display
andthe LCD displayinthe
viewfindermayfade
andbecome
difficultto read.lfthis happens,
have
it
replaced
(at
cost)bya CanonService
Center.
Atlow
temperatures,
theLCD displayresponse
may
become
slower.
And
at
60"C/140"F
or
higher
temperatures,
thedisplaymay
blacken.In
either
case,the
display
willreturn
to normal
atroom temperature.
Lithium Batteries
(1) The
cameraoperates
on
twoCR2
lithium
batteries.
Checkthe
battery
levelin
thefollowing
cases
(+page 14):
. Afterreplacing
thebatteries.
. Afternot
using
thecamerafor
anextended
period.
. The
shutter
stops
working.
. The
cameraisbeingusedina low-temperature
environment.
. Youwill
beshooting
animportant
event.
(2) Beforeinstalling
thebatteries,wipe
thebattery
contactstoremove
any
fingerprints
andsmudges.Thisis
toprevent faulty
connections
andcorrosion.
(3) Never
disassemble
orrecharge the
batteries.Also,never
storea
battery
inhigh-temperature
places
orshort
circuit
thebattery
contacts
ortoss
abattery
into
afire.
(4) Although
thebatteriesworkwell
evenatlow
temperatures,
battery
performance
may
declineslightly
at
freezing
temperatures.In
such
a
case,keep
spare
batteries
warm
in
a pocket,
etc.,anduse
and
warm
thebatteriesalternately.
'How Low Battery Levels Affect Camera Operation
OntheLCD
panel,
if
the
<E > icon
blinks
or
itis
not
displayed,
a
proper
exposure
can
stillbeobtained
aslong
astheshutterreleases.
However,
when.the
batterylevelislow,film
advance
andautorewind
might
stop
midway
or not work
atalland<
ft > may
blinkontheLCD
panel.
After
thebatteries
are
replaced
withnew
ones,
film
advancewill
bepossible
and
filmrewind
canresume
bypressing
the<@:: > button.
Lens Electrical Contacts
After
detaching
thelensfrom
thecamera,
put
onthe lens
caps
orput down
thelens with
the
rear
end
upto avoid
scratchingthelens
surface
andelectrical
contacts.
