W-500™ Control includes all of the standard features, in a new design that is
compatible with a number of Casablanca fan Models . The W-500™ hand-held
remoteprovidesthreeforwardorreversefanspeeds,fullspectrumlightdimming
and has an optional wall bracket. The W-500™ may be used alone to control
severalfansorwithextracontrolstooperateasingle fan from different locations.

Wall Installation
StepA.Locate a2x4 wallstud
in a convenient location.
Step B. Orient the control
bracketasshownoverthe2x4
stud.
Step C. Use the 1” wood
screws in either the inner or
outer mounting holes. Install
and tighten screws by hand
only.
Note: The wall anchors and 6-32 x 1”
screws may be used in situations where
mountingto a studisnot possible. Usethe
inner mounting holes. After securing the
anchor, discard the anchor’s pointed
screws and use the 6-32 decor ovalhead
screwssupplied.

Removing Control
Gently Pull the lower edge of
the control out from the
holder.
Control Storage
Angle control in top first until
the unit can be gently pushed
back and snapped into place.

W-500™ OPERATION
Fan Control
To start the fan. Press the selected speed but-
ton to run the fan at the desired speed.
•=Low speed ••=Medium speed •••=High speed
Toturn offthe fan. Press the FANOFF button.
Airflow Direction
To reverse the airflow press the RE-
VERSE button. Reverse operates at any
speed whether fan is on or off. The fan
returns to its set speed after reversing.
Light Control
Turn the light on or off independently from
thefanbypressingtheLIGHTbutton.Keep
pressing the button in excess of 0.7 sec-
onds, it becomes a dimmer. The light
varies from ‘bright’ to ‘dim’ over approxi-
mately 8 seconds. This sequence will
reverse the light when it reaches the
brightest or dimmest level if you continue
tohold theLIGHT button.Release thebut-
ton when the desired level is reached.

CHECKING THE SWITCH SETTINGS
Step 1. IMPORTANT! Make sure the jumper switches of
the transmitter and reciever are matched. If they are not
matched, the control will not function.
Select different combinations of the jumper switches for
each fan installation in the house to prevent interference
ofone control with another.To change the position of any
ofthejumperswitches you will need a small pair of pliers
or tweezers. With the power off, carefully extract one
jumper at a time and position differently as needed.
Step 2. Make sure that the new setting of the 3 jumper
switchesarethesamein the reciever before installing.
IMPORTANT! When you change jumper switches, make
sure the battery is not connected to the transmitter.
Step 3. Install a fresh 12-volt battery into the transmitter.
Ifthefanis not functioning after installation:
Step 1. Check to make sure that batteries are installed correctly in the
control.
Step 2. Turn the power off to the fan (from the circuit breaker) for at least 5
seconds.
Step3.Turnthe powerbackon (at the circuitbreaker)then press the lightor
fanbutton.
Step 4.The fan should now function properly.
Note: If the fan is still not functioning, you will need
to check the switch setting of both the transmitter
and receiver.

W-500™CHANGING FREQUENCYSETTING
You will only havetochangethe jumper switch settings in
theremoteandreceiverifyouareusingmorethanonefan
in the same area and want to control them separately.
Youwillneedasmallpliersortweezerstomovethe jumper
switches.
Step 1. At the circuit breaker or fuse box, turn the power
offforthefan you want to change.
Step 2. Open the battery door of the W-500 control and
removethe batteries.
Step 3. Change the jumper switchsettings,assuringthat
theyare different from the previously installedfan.
Note: All fans leave the
factory set to ‘ 0111 ’.
Note: You may want to label your controls to
assure you do not mix them up.
IMPORTANT!Thejumperswitchesinboththetrans-
mitter and the receiver must match or you will not be
ableto control your fan
Step 4.Re-installthebatteriesand the batterydooron the
control.
Step 5. At the circuit breaker or fuse box, turn the power
backonforthefanwhosefrequencyyouarechanging.
Step 6. Within 20 seconds of restoring power, At the cir-
cuitbreaker orfuse box,turnthe powerback onforthe fan
whosefrequency you are changing.
To change the frequency, removal or change the
location of the jumper plug as shown.

Before Requesting Service: Please follow this troubleshooting guide before contacting your dealer for assistance.
PROBLEM POSSIBLE REMEDIES..
FAN WILL NOT START •Check main circuit fuses, circuit breakers, or wall switch position. Check all wire connections,
makingsure the power isturned off during thisinspection.
•Pinconnectors are notmaking good contact.Check the connectionsin the switch housing and
underthetop cover.
•Batteryweak-installfreshAlkalinebattery.
•Fanreceiverdefective - replace.
•Checkthe frequency setting: Turnpoweroff,at the circuitbreaker,onlyforthe fan not functioning
for at least 5 seconds; turn the power back on; within 20 seconds press the Hi, Med, and Lo
buttons(in that order) toset the frequencyof the fan tothe control.
FAN WOBBLES OR •Besure canopy pin is properly set into the slot onthe ball.
SHAKES EXCESSIVELY •Checkthat bladeholders have not been bent duringinstallationandbladesarebalanced.
•Hangerbracketand/orceiling outlet are loosely attached: Make surethatthe hanger bracket is
tightly.attachedtotheceiling outlet box. Make surethat the downrod assembly issecured firmly.
•Downrodis loosely attached todownrod base: Make surethat all screws aresecurely tightened .
FAN NOISY DURING •Checkand tighten light fixture retainingscrews, glass shade screws and/or the lightbulb(s).
OPERATION •Tightencanopy screws and mountingplate assembly. Check that thewire nuts inside thecanopy
and switch housing are not touching the metal parts or have fallen off the wire splices.Tighten as
necessary.
•Tighten blade holdersto flywheel (or direct drive motor)and blade to bladeholder screws.
•Makesure all screws in themotor housing are snug,but not overly tight. Defectivebulb: Replace
bulb.
DOES NOT RUN ON •Ifnew, “break-in” may berequired - run athigherspeed for several days.
