SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING: When using power tools or garden
power tools basic safety precautions including
the following safety instructions should always
be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric
shock and personal injury. Read all these in-
structions before operating this product and
retain these instructions for future reference.
•Do not operate this product in an explosive
atmosphere, such as in the presence of flam-
mable liquids, gases or dust.
•Keep children and bystanders away while op-
erating the power tools or garden power tools.
Distractions can cause you to lose control.
•Power tools or garden power tools plug must
match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any
way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed
(grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs
and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric
shock
•Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded
surfaces such as tubes, radiators and refrigera-
tors. There is an increased risk of electric shock
if your body is earthed or grounded.
•Do not expose power tools garden power
tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a
power tool garden power tool will increase the
risk of electric shock.
•Do modify or change the cord. Never use
the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the

tection used for appropriate conditions will re-
duce personal injuries.
•Remove any adjusting key or wrench before
turning power tools or garden power tools on.

SAFETY RULES FOR HEDGE TRIMMER
•Switch off the machine and disconnect the
plug from the power supply when the machine
is left unattended, maintenance is being car-
ried our, for cleaning, blade oiling or when the
blades are blocked or any object to be removed
form the blade.
•Make sure that the protection guard is always
mounted to the machine when using the hedge
trimmer. Never remove any of its components
and never use a damaged or incomplete ma-
chine and never modify any of the machine
components or tamper with the original trimmer
arrangement in any way.
•Only use splash proof extension cord ap-
proved for outdoor use and marked accord-
ingly.
•Before using the hedge trimmer, check the
machine, extension cord and plug. If any com-
ponents are worn or damaged, have them
checked, repaired or replaced by an authorized
service centre.
•Remove the plug immediately, if the cable or
extension cord has been damaged or cut.
•Always wear suitable clothing, anti-slip shoes
and close-fitting garments, which cannot get
caught, however, do not restrict movement. Tie
long-hair back or protect with a hair net. Do not
wear bracelets or long jewellery, which could
get entangled in moving parts.
•Always wear safety goggles or a face guard,
protective gloves and, if the noise exceeds 85
dB(A), also wear ear guards.
•Do not use the machine when it is raining or
on wet hedges.
•Individuals below the age of 16 and individu-
als, who are not perfectly familiar with the in-
struction, are not allowed to use the machine.
•Within the working area, the person using the
machine is responsible for any damage or in-
jury sustained by third parties or their property
which has been caused by the machine. Watch
your working area and do not allow third per-
sons or animals to be around.
•When operating the machine take great care
and always hold it firmly with both hands.
•-Check regularly that all screws are properly
secured. Check the cutting blades regularly
and, in case of damage, have them repaired or
replaced by an authorized service centre.
•Make yourself familiar with your working area
and be alert for possible hazards, which you
might not hear due to the motor noise.
•Never touch the unprotected blades and nev-
er carry the machine by hold of the blades.
•When the hedge trimmer is not in use, for
transport or storage, keep it in a dry place and
out of the reach of children, and have the cut-
ting blades always inserted into the protection
cover.
•Only use original spare parts and accessories
supplied with the machine or recommended by

the manufacturer.

Before starting the machine
Connection
•Ensure that the mains voltage is the same as
the operating voltage indicated on the rating
plate.
•Connect the power plug to the coupling of an
appropriate extension cord. Form a loop, push
it through the opening in the rear handle and
hook over the cable holder.
Starting the machine
Warning! Only use this machine for applica-
tions described in the chapter ‘application
range’
•Switching on: Press the on/off switch (3) of the
front handle and the switch (1) of the rear han-
dle with both hands at the same time.
•Switching off: release any one of the switch
(3) or (1).
•The blade brake makes the blades stop im-
mediately within 0.5s the small flash in the
area of the upper ventilation slots is normal
and does not harm to you or the machine.
Cutting hedges
•Before you start your work, select branches
with a diameter not bigger than 20mm and cut
them with a pruning shear.
•First cut the sides from the bottom to the top.
Cut the upper part giving it the shape you pre-
fer, in a straight horizontal form, roof-like or
rounded.
•The lever guide will help you to control the
blade in horizontal
•The safety blade has laterally rounded and
staggered cutting teeth to reduce danger of
injury. The additional shock protection avoids
inconvenient kickback when the blades come
into contact with walls, fences etc.
•If the blades are jammed or blocked by obsta-
cles, switch the motor off immediately, pull the
plug, and then remove the object jamming the
blades. Caution! Metal obstacles like fences
etc. may damage the cutting blades.
•Always make sure to keep the extension cord
behind your back and to start cutting the hedge
at the point nearest to the supply socked.
Therefore plan your working direction before
starting.
Maintenance and cleaning
•Before carrying out any checks or mainte-
nance operations, disconnect the plug from the
electric power supply.
•Check your machine regularly before starting
the work.
•Damaged cutting blades have to be repaired
or exchanged by a qualified service man before
working with the machine.
•After each cutting operation, clean the cutting
blade with a soft brush and cloth with lubricat-
ing fluid oil and spray a thin layer of fluid protec-
tive oil on the completes blade.
•Always keep the ventilation slots in motor
housing clean.
•Never clean or spray a machine with water.
Clean the motor housing only with a moist cloth
and never apply detergents or solvents! These
could ruin the plastic parts of the machine. Fi-
nally, dry the motor housing carefully.
•Store the machine with the supplied protec-
tion cover .
•Only use original accessories and spare parts.

free from mechanical and electrical defects and complies with the applicable safety standards. However, should
defects due to faulty material or workmanship develop, under normal domestic use, within 6 months from the
date of purchase please return the product to the store from where it was purchased for a full refund or replace-
ment.
The following conditions apply:
1. Please ensure you retain your receipt as this must be presented when making a claim under the terms of the
guarantee. It is impossible to determine the guarantee period without proof of purchase, so please keep this
in a safe place.
2. If a refund or exchange is required the product must be complete with all accessories, parts and packaging.
3. Missing parts will render the guarantee void.
4. Upon receipt of your appliance check it for any transport damage to ensure it is safe for use. Return it to the
store as soon as possible for exchange if damaged. The guarantee is void if products are damaged after
use, so please do not use the damaged product.
5. Your product is designed for normal domestic household use. Failure to read and comply with the instruc-
tions for use, cleaning and maintenance will render your guarantee void, so please read these instructions
carefully to ensure your safety, and get the most effective use from the product.
6. Any abuse, negligent, improper use will render the guarantee void and Creative Housewares (Pty) Ltd
will not be liable for any loss or damage.
7. This Guarantee will not apply if this tool is damaged by accident or from normal wear and tear.
8. Any attempted repair, or replacement of unauthorised parts will render the guarantee void, so please contact
an authorised service centre or agent for any service or repair requirements.
9. Accessories such as bits, blades, sanding disc, cutting lines, etc are excluded from this guarantee.
10. Normal consumables parts, such as carbon brushes, bearings, chucks, cord assembly’s, spark plugs,
recoil pulleys and bump head assembly’s are specifically excluded from this guarantee.
Extended 24 Month Limited Guarantee
• Casals takes pride in their product quality and therefore offer an extended 24 month limited guarantee from
the original date of purchase to offer the consumer peace of mind on their purchase.
• Should defects due to faulty material or workmanship develop, under normal domestic use, within 24 months
from the original date of purchase, please return the product to the store from where it was purchased for
repair free of charge.
• Casals will however replace a product, if the cost of the repair is not commercially viable or if their ability to
conduct repair effectively cannot be guaranteed.
• NB: The guarantee on replaced products will be from the original date of purchase.
• All repairs carry a 3 month guarantee even if this falls outside of the 2 year guarantee period. Casals will at-
tempt to conduct repairs within reasonable industry standards but cannot be held responsible or liable for any
circumstances not under their control.
Before returning your product, check for the following:
1. Your household mains supply socket is working and switched on.
2. The mains supply circuit is not overloaded (White trip switch on your DB board is off).
3. You have read the trouble shooting guide in your Instructions for Use.
4. All accessories and parts are present.
If service or repair becomes necessary outside the guarantee period, this service is still available however all
transport/postage, spares and labour costs will be paid by the consumer. All chargeable repairs will require the
consumers’ approval in writing once the quote is accepted. Once the go-ahead has been received Casals will
undertake to conduct the repair within a reasonable time and maintain the condition of the product as received.
