a good choice. is smoke alarm has been developed with design in mind and the greatest care to
deliver you a awless experience.
Your Cautiex smoke alarm is a stand-alone smoke alarm for private homes, mobile homes and
caravans. It’s not viable for industrial or non-residential applications and it’s not recommended
for boats.
Your Cautiex smoke alarm neither is able to prevent re nor is it able to clear re. It’s designed
to warn you of deadly smoke which occurs during re and supply you with the needed time to
escape into safety.

SENSOR TYPE
Your Cautiex smoke alarm is a photo electric smoke alarm based on infrared technology.
ere is no radioactivity used to detect smoke, which makes this device environmentally friendly.
Your Cautiex smoke alarm neither detects heat nor does it detect re.
To reliably detect smoke, the smoke has to reach your Cautiex smoke alarms sensing chamber.
BATTERY TYPE
• CR123A 3V Lithium battery / 1600 mAh (non-replaceable)
Your Cautiex smoke alarm is equipped with a permanently installed non-replaceable CR123A 3V
Lithium battery designed to power the device for ten years. To prevent malfunction and warranty
loss, do NOT try to open the device for battery replacement.
PLACEMENT
WHERE TO PLACE
Your Cautiex smoke alarm must be placed in such a way that it is reachable by soaring smoke.
Place your Cautiex smoke alarm where it’s reachable in order to maintain.
Check your local building code to nd special regulations for smoke alarms concerning your area.

Your Cautiex smoke alarm has been developed
for placement on the ceiling only. is means
the device must NOT be mounted on walls
and must NOT be placed on furniture like
cupboards.
For proper functionality, your Cautiex smoke
alarm must be placed at a minimum of 50 cm
away from walls or other ceiling mounted
objects.
To achieve full coverage, the maximum dis-
tance between two smoke alarms in one room
should not exceed more than 10 metres.
Your Cautiex smoke alarm must NOT be
placed at a high roof point. During a re, hot
air gathers at the centre of a high roof and
prevents smoke reaching your Cautiex smoke
alarms sensing chamber. Place your Cautiex
smoke alarm between 50 cm – 100 cm away
from the centre of your roof / gable for
optimum results.
GERMANY
According to DIN14676:2012; smoke alarms have to be installed in:
• Bedrooms.
• Children’s room.
• Corridors and/or stairways which serve as escape routes.
• Smoke alarms have to be placed in such a way that they can detect smoke early.
Hint: Additional smoke alarms in places like living rooms and / or home oces etc. increase the
security.

AUSTRIA
According to OiB-directive 2; smoke alarms have to be installed in:
• All habitable rooms; except kitchens.
• Corridors and / or stairways which serve as escape routes.
• Smoke alarms have to be placed in such a way that they can detect smoke early.
WHERE NOT TO PLACE
Your Cautiex smoke alarm should NOT be placed in bathrooms, kitchens or other humid areas
where mist or cooking fumes can cause harm to the smoke alarm or trigger unwanted alarms.
To ensure proper functionality, your Cautiex smoke alarm should NOT be placed in areas with
wild temperature uctuations. e ambient temperature limits, lie within +4°C to +38°C. To avoid
malfunction and harm to the device these temperature limits should NOT be exceeded or undercut
regularly.
Do NOT place in areas where the humidity exceeds 90% relative non-condensing.

MOUNTING
DETACH FROM BASE
Detach your Cautiex smoke alarm from
the mounting base ring by twisting the de-
vice counter-clockwise. You should feel the
device has loosened and hear a “clicking”
sound. Now you can remove your Cautiex
smoke alarm from the mounting base ring.

INSTALL MOUNTING BASE RING
Mark the drilling holes by using the mounting
base ring as a pattern. Drill the holes with a
correctly sized drill. Fit the screw anchors sup-
plied with your Cautiex smoke alarm into the
drilling holes. Now you can t the mounting
base ring to the ceiling using the screws sup-
plied with your Cautiex smoke alarm.
For awless attaching / detaching, assure that
the screw heads are ush with the mounting
base ring screw holes.
ATTACH TO BASE
Attach your Cautiex smoke alarm to the mounting base ring, by
tting it in and twisting it clockwise. You should feel the device
has tightened and hear a “clicking” sound.
Always test your Cautiex smoke alarms functionality aer
mounting / dismounting.
FUNCTIONAL TEST
e test routine includes a test of your Cautiex smoke alarms
sensing chamber. To initiate a functional test of your Cautiex
smoke alarm press the multifunctional LED and test button
rmly. While pressing the test button your Cautiex smoke alarm
emits a loud and penetrating sound pattern designed to warn
occupants. e red LED on the multifunctional test button will
begin to ash rapidly while being pushed.
e sound level of your Cautiex smoke alarm is 88+-2dB at 3 me-
tres distance. To avoid injury, keep a reasonable distance between
your ears and the Cautiex smoke alarm while testing the device.
Note that your Cautiex smoke alarm is only active and functional
while it’s tted in the mounting base ring.
If your Cautiex smoke alarm does not pass the functional test
refer to the trouble-shooting section of this user manual.

STATUS INDICATION
NORMAL STATE
In the normal state the multifunctional LED and test button on the side of
your Cautiex smoke alarm will ash every 48 seconds. is indicates that
your Cautiex smoke alarm is active and ready to warn you in case it senses
smoke.
ALARMING STATE
During an active alarm your Cautiex smoke alarm will emit a loud and
penetrating sound pattern designed to warn occupants. At the same time
the multifunctional LED and test button on the side of your Cautiex smoke
alarm will ash rapidly to indicate an alarm. Do NOT disregard an alarm
case. Disregarding an alarm case can result in serious injury or death.
LOW BATTERY STATE
Your Cautiex smoke alarm signals when its battery is near end of life. Emit-
ting a short acoustic “beep” every 48 seconds, indicates the battery is almost
empty. Your Cautiex smoke alarm will continue to warn about its low battery
state for at least 30 days. For your own safety do NOT delay replacing your
Cautiex smoke alarm.
ALARM PAUSE FUNCTION
In case of unintentional alarms or false alarms, you can mute your
Cautiex smoke alarm.
During an active alarm simply press the multifunctional LED and
test button on the side of your Cautiex smoke alarm once. is
stops the alarm and sets the device into a 10 minute pause state.
Your Cautiex smoke alarm automatically resumes to normal state
aer 10 minutes have passed.
You can reactivate your Cautiex smoke alarm before the
10 minutes have passed by simply pressing the multifunctional
LED and test button on the side your Cautiex smoke alarm, dur-
ing paused state. e alarm will sound and the multifunctional
LED and test button will start ashing every 48 seconds to indi-
cate normal state.

MAINTENANCE
e listed maintenance steps have to be executed on a regular basis to keep
your Cautiex smoke alarm working awlessly. Your Cautiex smoke alarm must
be replaced aer 10 years of use or if the smoke alarm has suered any damage.
FUNCTIONAL TEST
Execute a functional test once every month to ensure there are no issues with
your Cautiex smoke alarm and it’s ready to warn you in case it senses smoke.
CLEANING
Vacuum clean the sensing chamber mesh
once every month to ensure the sensing
chambers entrances are not blocked by
dust particles or insects.
Vacuum cleaning the mesh may lead to a
false alarm.
CORRECT BEHAVIOR IN CASE OF FIRE
Stay calm.
Warn your cohabitants.
Immediately leave the house.
Help children, handicapped, elderly and injured people.
Close all windows and doors aer you.
Do NOT use elevators.
Call the re department.

PROHIBITIONS
• Do NOT use chemicals to clean your Cautiex smoke alarm, as they may damage the smoke
alarms sensing chamber.
• Do NOT paint your Cautiex smoke alarm, as the paint may block the smoke alarms openings and
prevent smoke from entering the sensing chamber.
• Do NOT try to open your Cautiex smoke alarm. Your Cautiex smoke alarm is a sealed and
sensitive electrical device. Attempts of opening your Cautiex smoke alarm will invalidate your
warranty.
• Do NOT remove the label on the bottom of your Cautiex smoke alarm. It’s carrying important
information which will be demanded by the technical support team.
TROUBLE-SHOOTING
Problem: If your Cautiex smoke alarm should fail the functional test.
Solutions:
• Make sure to press the multifunctional LED and test button rmly.
• Make sure your Cautiex smoke alarm is tted into the mounting base ring. Your Cautiex smoke
alarm is only active while tted in the mounting base ring.
• If your Cautiex smoke alarm continues to fail the functional test, contact the technical support
team.
Problem: Your Cautiex smoke alarm emits a short “beep” every 48 seconds.
Solutions:
• Replace your Cautiex smoke alarm as the battery is nearly empty.
Problem: Your Cautiex smoke alarm frequently produces false alarms.
Solutions:
• Clean your Cautiex smoke alarms sensing chamber with a vacuum cleaner.
• Check the positioning of your Cautiex smoke alarm.
• If your Cautiex smoke alarm continues to produce false alarms, contact the technical support
team.
