3.InstructionsforCare&Operation
TheeMotionTuningModuleisquiterugged,butitcanbedamaged.To
preventthis,followthesesuggestions:
•Donotdropit,orexposeittoshock–thiscancausethecaseor
componentstobedamaged.
•Keepitdry,anddonotoverheatit–thisisanelectricalappliance.If
wateroranyotherliquidgetsintoit,thedevicecouldbebadly
damaged.










DonotconnectthehandsettothePCbeforeinstallingthesoftware.

6.1SoftwareInstallation

InserttheCD‐Romintoyourdiskdrive.TheCD‐Romwillautorunshowingthe
followingscreen.


Navigatetoandclickthe‘InstallSoftware’Icontoruntheinstallation
programmewhichwillthenopenthefollowingpromptwhereyouclick‘Next’
tocontinue.

Onthenextpromptyouwillbeaskedtoinstalltheprogramme.Click‘Install’to
continue.Atthispointtheprogrammewillinstallthenecessaryfilesrequired
forthemodule.

Thescreenwillthenpromptyoustatingthesoftwarehasbeeninstalledand
click‘Finish’toexitthesetup.

6.2ConnectingtheeMotionHardwaretoyourPC


PlugtheUSBcableprovidedintotheeMotionUSBportasillustratedearlier.
OncepluggedinplacetheoppositeendoftheUSBcableintoaUSBporton
yourPC.

Thenextpartofyourinstallationdependsuponyourcomputersoperating
system.Pleasefollowtheinstructionsforyourappropriateoperatingsystem.

6.3WindowsXP

NOTE.Screenshotsmayvaryslightlyfromthosedisplayed.

OncetheeMotionhasbeenconnectedtothePC,theoperatingsystemwilltry
tofindtheUSB<‐>SerialdriverfortheeMotiontocommunicatewiththe
software.

Inordertoensuretheoperatingsystemfinds/selectsthecorrectdriver,please
ensureyoufollowthefollowingstepscarefully.

Thefirstscreenwhichshouldappearuponyourscreenshouldbethe‘Found
NewHardwareWizard’.Ifthescreenasks‘canwindowsconnecttowindows
updatetosearchforsoftware?’select‘No,notthistime’.



Thepreviousscreenmaynotshowdependinguponthesettingsofyour
operatingsystem.Itmayskipthepreviousscreenandshowthefollowing
menu:

Fromthisscreenpleaseselect‘Installfromalistorspecificlocation
(Advanced)’andthenclickthe‘Next’buttontocontinue.Iftheautomatic
selectionischosenitwillnotfindthedevicedriverandwillnotworkwhen
tryingtocommunicatewiththeeMotion.



Younowneedtonavigatetothelocationofthedriversowindow’sinstallsthe
correctdriver.

Pleaseensureyouselectthe‘Searchforthebestdriverintheselocations’
radiobuttonandcheckboxthe‘Includethislocationinthesearch:’and
unchecktheboxabove.

Select‘Browse’andfromthescreenwhichpopsupselectthe‘C:drive’icon
andthensingleclickthe‘CelticTuning_eMotion’folderthenclick‘OK’to
continue.

NOTE.C:\representsthedefaultinstallationlocationofyourharddrive.Ifyoudefaulthard
drivelocationletterisdifferentpleaseamendaccordingly.

Onceyourscreenlooksasabove,select‘Next’tocontinueinstallingthedriver.
WhenithasfoundthedriverWindow’swillbringupthefollowingscreen
prompt:



Tocontinueinstallingthedriverselect‘ContinueAnyway’.Oncethedriveris
installedyouwillhaveascreensayingthatthedriverhasbeensuccessfully
installedandtoclick‘Finish’tocontinue.

6.4WindowsVista/Windows7


OncetheeMotionhasbeenconnectedtothePC,theoperatingsystemwilltry
tofindtheUSB<‐>SerialdriverfortheeMotiontocommunicatewiththe
software.

Inordertoensuretheoperatingsystemfinds/selectsthecorrectdriver,please
ensureyoufollowthefollowingstepscarefully.

Thefirstscreenwhichshouldappearuponyourscreenshouldbethe‘Found
NewHardware’screen.Whenthisappearsselect‘Locateandinstalldriver
software(recommended)’.


OnceyouhaveselectedthisWindowswillautomaticallytrytofindthedriver
suitableforthehardwareandwilldisplaythefollowingpopupinthebottom
righthandsideofyourscreen:

AfteraperiodoftimeWindowswillnotfindthedriveranddisplaythe
followingscreen:

Eventhoughyouhaveaninstallationdiscthedriveriscompressedinafilethus
weneedtoselectthefolderwherethedriverhasbeenextractedto.Please
select‘Idon’thavethedisc.Showmemoreoptions.’
