D£TROIT -It's everything from ano-nonsense two-door to aluxuriously appointed
four-door, And for 1999, Chevy Blazer is also atouch more refined, with a new up-level model
and avariety of new comfort and convenience features,
"Today's
sport utility owners are not only buying the performance and added security that
comes with
buying atruck, they're buying image," said Russ Clark, Blazer brand manager.
"Whether they're driving off-road,
or negotiating a crowded freeway, they want to know that
Blazer
can provide both ruggedness and refinement in one package."
Chevy Blazer's refinements
for '99 start with new interior features, such as an eight-way
power driver seat with memory and power passenger seat (standard on LT models), available
steering
wheel-mounted radio controls, uplevel Bose premium sound systems and multiple CD
changer. Also available, a
new six-way power driver and front-passenger seat (option only
available on the LS 4-Door model).
Blazer also
adds astandard flash-lo-pass feature (allows driver to flash high-beam head-
lamps
as apassing signal) and liftglass-ajar warning telltale light; content theft alarm on vehicles
with Remote Keyless Entry; and available
power heated exterior mirrors.
Blazer rounds
out its "what's new list" with an optional Autotrac transfer case (4x4 models
only). This system provides 100 percent rear-wheel drive until road conditions warrant achange.

The TrailBlazer is an upscale Four-Door version aimed at buyers who crave the ultimate in
style and comfort in asport utility,
Clark said that TrailBlazer capitalizes on the fact that four-door buyers
lend to be different
lhan
two-door buyers in the way they use their Blazers.

"Two door buyers are more likely to go off-road," said Clark. "That's why ecreated the
Two-Door
ZR2 ... atrue oft-road machine. Four-door buyers want the attributes 0atruck, with a

TrailBlazer's special features include:

monotone exterior featuring the TrailBlazer name.

to Clark, the name "TrailBlazer" is appropriate for the truck that crved a new trail
when it was introduced back in 1982.
"We created a new market when we introduced the S-10 Blazer," said Clark "Today's

new level of refinement that builds on our top-of-the-line LT mo el in terms of
styling and appearance."
Clark said that TrailBlazer represents asignificant value
when compared ith similar
competitive offerings currently available.
"I can tell you that the TrailBlazer Package will represent agreat value," said Clark. "Our
competitors charge an extra four grand for their top-of-the-line '98 models. The Tra lBlazer package
will
be available on 4-Door LT models for less than two-thousand dollars."
