C65 Black Gold Limited Edition
Little did we know before the release of 2018’s C65 Trident Diver,
but its outstanding public reaction would almost singlehandedly
carve out a new genre in the Christopher Ward Collection: one
devoted to the dive watches of yesteryear.
The C65 Black Gold Limited Edition is the latest addition to the
C65 family, and it doubles as a celebration of the Diver’s inuence.
It hits many of the same notes in its design: the large Arabic
numerals at 12 and 6 o’clock; rectangular indexes and baton
shaped hands; a slim and wearable case housing a hand-wound
mechanical movement. Yet the Black Gold certainly marks one of
our more extravagant additions.
As you might expect given its title, black and gold are present:
the former on the C65’s DLC backplate and aluminium bezel,
the latter adorning its graceful ‘light-catcher’ case in a rich tone
of PVD. It’s a colour scheme that not only evokes memories of the
sleek Lotus F1 cars that struck success in the ‘60s and ‘70s, but in
the case of this C65, it heightens its vintage cues.
In a collection renowned for its lithe ‘60s aesthetic, this 200-piece
limited edition’s regal looks may just represent a new pinnacle.

Your C65 Black Gold Limited Edition has a maximum power
reserve of 42 hours when fully wound. To re-power the watch
after a period of non-use, simply wind the crown in a clockwise
direction for approximately 20 revolutions.

The crown should sit ush to the case (position 1) in order to
maintain water resistance. To re-power the watch after a period of
non-use, simply wind the crown in a clockwise direction until you
begin to feel a resistance. Your C65 Black Gold Limited Edition has
a maximum power reserve of 42 hours when fully wound.
To set the time pull out the crown gently into position 2.
This position is used for handsetting and stopping of the second
hand. Turn the crown until you reach the correct time e.g. 10.08 hr.
For precise time setting it is recommended you pass beyond
the desired minute and to set the hand backwards.

resistance as it will damage the movement.

If using the bezel for a dive and let’s say the recognised maximum “no-stop
time” is 55 minutes, then in this example (shown right) the time at the
surface immediately before the dive is 10.08am. However the bezel marker
is at the 12.00 hr position. Move the bezel marker anti-clockwise so that it
aligns with the 8 minute position. You can now read that the 55 minute no
decompression limit will occur at 3 minutes past the next hour.
PLEASE NOTE: It is always useful and best practice to make a note on a dive slate before
entering the water and to carry a set of dive tables should the dive plan change during the
course of a dive. A safety stop for 3 to 5 minutes at 15ft is recommended at the end of all
dives. A safety stop for 3 minutes at 15ft is required any time you come within 3 pressure
groups of a no decompression limit, and for any dive to a depth of 100ft or deeper.
