Introduction
DIN-EistheidealDMXstandalonedeviceforinstallationinelectricalDINcabinetswithDIN
RAILS.TheUSBtoDMXstandaloneEthernetDMXdevicecancontrolfrom512to2048channels
on1,2or4DMXuniverses.

Ifdriversarenotinstalled,theWindowsDeviceManagerlistsadevicewithayellowwarning.
OnMacOS,simplychecktheUSBdevicetreetoview"DMX512standaloneDevice".OnLinux,use
the"lsusb"commandtoview"DMX512standaloneDevice"asalist.
AftercontrolsoftwareinstallationandUSBdrivers
●ConnectthedevicewiththeUSBcable.
●StarttheDEVICETOOLorthesoftwareandselect"OpenUSBDevice"or"USB"tocheckthe
successofdriversinstallation.
Allconnectedanddetecteddevicesarelisted.

Ethernetconnectionandconfiguration
EstablishEthernetcommunicationwiththedevicetochangeitssettingsinthesoftwareoptions
windoworviatheDEVICETOOL.
Itcanbedoneinseveralways:Live,viaanIPSwitchoraWifirouter.ThedeviceisinDHCPmode
bydefault.
Initialstepsrequired
●ConnectthedevicetotheLANorcomputerviaanRJ45Ethernetcable.
●PowerthedeviceviaUSBcable(5VDC,0.3A).
●Connectthecomputertothesamenetwork(LAN)ordeviceviaanRJ45Ethernetcable.
DHCP/IPStatic
InDHCPmode,withoutresponsesfromaDHCPserverafterashorttime,thedevicewillusestatic
IPmodewithitsdefaultIPaddressandwaitforthenextDHCPrequesttouseDHCPmode.Itwill
thereforealwaysbepossibletoconnectdirectlytothecomputerinstaticIPMODE.Thedeviceisin
DHCPmodebydefault.
DHCPconnection
DHCPmode,allowsyoutocommunicatewithdevicesthroughaDHCPserverthatautomatically
assignsandmanagestheIPaddressesofeachdevice.TheDHCPservercanbeofSwitchIPor
Routertypeorother.
ThedeviceisinDHCPmodebydefault.
ItisdetectedbysoftwareautomaticallywhenthecomputerisalsoconnectedinDHCPtothe
samenetworkorwithastaticIPaddressofthesamerange.
DHCPbenefitisthattheDHCPserverautomaticallymanagestheIPaddressesofconnected
devices.SoitisnotnecessarytoknowexactlytheIPofyourdevicetoconnecttoit.However,IPs
areregularlymodifiedandcanmaketheinstallationlessreliable.

StaticIPmode,allowsyoutocommunicatedirectlywithandevicewithoutnecessarilygoing
throughanotherdevicesuchasIPswitchorrouteroraccesspoint.ItisalsousedonLANswithout
DHCPserver.
StaticIPmodealsoallowsyoutofreezeanetworkconfigurationandprovidesbetterstabilityto
installationsdesignedwithmultipledevicesthankstoanIPswitchorrouters.
Thedefaultstaticvaluesofthedeviceare:
IPaddress:192.168.0.5
Subnetmask:255.255.255.0
SettinguptheStaticIPconnection
●Aftertherequiredinitialstepsarecompleted.
●IfthedeviceisinStaticIPmode.
●SettheIPaddressofthecomputertoanidenticalIPaddressrangeoftype
192.168.0.x.With"x"differentthan5toavoididenticalIPconflictsonthenetwork.
●Alsosetthesubnetmaskto255.255.255.0.
●Startthesoftwareorapplication.
InanidenticalIPaddressrange,thedevicewillberecognizedwhensoftwarestarts.
ResetoftheIPaddress
IfthereisadefaultIPaddressnotfound,usetheUSBconnectionandsoftwaresettingstoolsto
checkorchangethedeviceIPaddress.
Connectingtoawifirouter
Ifthedevice'sRJ45portallowsawiredconnectiontoalocalnetwork,itisalsopossibletoconnect
toitviaWIFIviaaWIFIrouter.
Theillustrationbelowisanexampleofaconfigurationusingathird-partyminiWiFiroutertoallow
awirelessconnection.Otherdescriptionsoftheserouterscanbe"hotspot","hub","dongle",
"bridge","repeater",etc.
Note:ConnectmultipledevicestotheWiFirouterorextendtheavailableRJ45portswithaSwich
IP.

ImplementationoftheWIFInetwork:
●SetuptheWiFirouterasaHotspottocreateanewaccesspoint.
●OrconfiguretheWiFirouteras“Bridge”orrepeatertojoinanexistingnetwork.
●ItispossibletoconfiguretherouterinStaticIPorDHCP.
●InDHP(defaultmodeofarouter)IPaddressesaredynamicallyassignedonthenetworkby
theDHCPserver.
●Afterconfiguringtherouter,connecttheRJ45portsandconfigurethedeviceinDHCPor
staticIPmode.
●Oncethedeviceisconnectedtotherouter,itcanbeusedandvisibleonthenetwork.
Standalonemodesettings
Instandalonemodeofthecontrolsoftware, configurethedeviceaccordingtothe
availableoptionsthenselectandconfigurethetriggersofscenestobewritteninmemory.

ThemergedDMXlevelsarecomparedandthehighestisretained.WearetalkingaboutHTP
(HighestTakesPriority).
MaintainmanualcontrolonsomecircuitswithanexternalDMXconsole.
Createamulti-zonesystembymergingseveralcascadingdevicestoobtainonlyonecommon
DMXline.
AssignanyuniverseofthesoftwaretoanyDMXlineassignedtooutput,choosinglinebyline(U1,
U2...).

Optimizethesizeofshowssavedinmemorybyreducingthenumberofcircuitsperuniverse
dependingonthechannelsused.
Example:If150channelsareusedintheshow,selectonlythenearesthighervalue,here192.

ConnectmultipledevicesintoUSBsothattheyaredetectedbythesoftware.
UsetheMaster/SlaveoptiontosynchronisetheirstandalonemodeandDMXuniverse.
Whenadeviceissetasamasterinthesoftware,theotherdevicesareautomaticallyputinslave
mode.Therearefourdifferentmodesofmaster/slaveinteraction:Bydefault,desynchronized,LTP,

andnorelease.
Master/Slavemode"bydefault"
Asingledeviceisdefinedasmaster(lowerserialnumberbydefault),theothersareautomatically
definedasslaves.Themasterdeviceplaysthecurrentsceneandsynchronisestheslavedevices.
Themasterforcesslavedevicestoplaythesamesceneandthesamestagestepsimultaneously.
Slavedevicesareforcedtotrackthetimingsandtriggersofthemasterandtheycannotact
otherwise,playortriggerasceneindependently.Themastercantriggerandstopscenesfrom
slavedevices.
"Desynchronized"Master/Slavemode
Onedeviceisdefinedasmaster,theothersareautomaticallydefinedasslaves.Allmasterdevice
triggersaretransmittedtoslaves.However,slavedevicesarenotsynchronisedwiththemaster
devicesynchronisationsignalandretainindividualcontrol.Therefore,slavescantriggerandplay
differentscenesatanytimeandnotsynchronisedperfectlywiththoseofthemaster.Themaster
actsasageneralremotecontrolimposingthetriggeronslaveswithtotalpriority.Themastercan
triggerONandOFFscenesfromtheslavedevice.
Master/Slavemode"LTP"
LTPmeans"LatestTakesPriority/ThelatterhasPriority".Alldevicesaredefinedasslaves.The
devicesarenotsynchronisedwithtimingandcantriggerandplaydifferentscenesby
themselves.However,devicetriggersareautomaticallytransmittedtootherconnecteddevicesand
slavedevicesareforcedtotriggerthesamescene.Inthismode,eachdeviceactsasageneral
remotecontrolimposingtriggeringonotherslaveswithoutsynchronisation.
Master/Slavemode"Norelease"
ThisoptionisonlyavailablewithLTPorDESYNCHRONIZEDmodes.OnlyONtriggersofthemaster
deviceareexecutedandfunctional.AllOFFtriggersareignoredandslavedevicescontinuetoplay
theircurrentscene.Eachslavedevicecanchoosewhethertoreleaseitsscenedependingon
whethertheoptionisenabledornot.

ExternalcontactsTrigger:
Dependingonthedevice,severalexternalcontactsareavailable:TrigA,TrigB,TrigC...,andthe
Useamultiplexingdevicetoextendthenumberofcontactswhenpossible.(from3to7;from4to
15;from5to31...)Contactreactiontime,5ms(0.005s)
Optionoftriggers
On:Activatingthecontactmakesthesceneplay(theonlytriggeractionistostartthescene).
On/Off:Activatingthecontactstartsthescene,subsequentactivationstopsthescene.Each
triggeractionwillreversethestagestate(start/stop).
AutoRelease:Thesceneisplayedonlywhilethecontactisenabled.Whenthecontactisreleased,
thescenestops.
Restart:Ifthesceneisplaying,enablingthecontactrestartsthescenefromitsbeginning.Ifthe
sceneisnotbeingplayed,itwillstart.Externalcontactreactiontime:8ms(0.008s)/time
between2contacts:500ms(0.5s)
Ifsomethingplays:Playtheselectedsceneifasceneisalreadyplayed.
