INTRODUCTION
Thismanualisintendedforthosewhohavebought
theirHelios,STEPSHeliosorTripletdirectlyfromCirce
Cyclesandhavereceivedtheirtandem,ortriplet,
packedinabox.Thismanualistohelpyouunpack
andassembleyourtandemortriplet.Afterthis
youcanrefertotheOwner’smanualtohelpwith
adjustmentandmorecomprehensivesetup.
Tofurtherhelpwithassemblingyourtandem,there
areinstructionalvideosavailableonthemanuals

UNPACKING
Makesuretheboxisthecorrectwayupbefore
opening.Removealltheloosepackagingand
anyloosepartsfromaroundthebike.Remove
thetandemfromthebox,asecondsetofhands
makesthiseasier.
Thetripletsectioncomesinaseparatebox,
pleasefollowthesameprocedureasabovefor
unpacking.
NOTE -Checkthateverythingispresentand
undamagedbeforeproceedingtoassembly.
CONTENTS OF MAIN BOX
Themainboxshouldcontain:
• Thebikewithfrontwheel,stokerandcaptain’s
handlebars,stems,steererextenderandpedals
(ifincluded)removed.
• Racksandstandifordered,theseshouldbe
ttedtothebike.
• Front(removed)andrearmudguard
• Thruaxleforfrontwheel,installedinfork
• Battery(STEPSonly)
• Smallpartsbox(contentslistedbelow)

Thesmallpartsboxshouldcontainthefollowing,
howevertheremaybeadditionalpartsinthebox
dependingonwhathasbeenordered:

Thefrontwheelisttedusingathruaxle,thatis
pushedthroughfromtheleftsideofthebike(disc
brakeside)andthentightenedusinga6mmAllen
key.Wheninstallingthewheelmakesurethedisc
rotorisalignedbetweenthepads,beforepushing
thewheelintotheforkends.
NOTE –withhydraulicbrakes,rstremovethe
orangepadspacerbeforeinstallingthewheel.
INSTALLING FRONT MUDGUARD
Thefrontmudguardattachesinthreeplaces;the
forkcrownandhtebottomofeachforkleg.You
willneeda6mmAllenkeyand10mmspannerto
fastentheboltattheforkcrownandapairofpliers
tohelpinsertthestaysintotheplasticclips,though
thiscanbedonebyhand.
If
youhaveafrontlightorHebiesteeringstabaliser
youwillhavetoattachtheseattheforkcrownwith
themudguard.

• Di2tool(STEPSTriplet)supplied
• Longnosepliersorchainlinkpliers(Triplet)
INSTALLING STEERER EXTENDER
Thesteererextendertstothetopoftheforkand
locatesonthe4-pointedstar,theslotattheback
oftheextendershouldalignwiththeverticalsloton
thesideofthetopcap.
Ensurethesteererisfullypusheddownbefore
tighteningtheQ/R.
FitthehandlebartothestemusinganAllenkey
andtightenaccordingtothetorquessettingsinthe
torquetableAppendixA.

Forpacking,theseatpostscomettedinthe
oppositepositions.i.e.theStokerseatpostisinthe
Captain’spositionandviceversa.
TheCaptain’sseatpostisinonepieceandthis
isthepostthestokerstemandhandlebarshould
bettedto.Thetelescopictwo-piecepostisthe
Stoker’sandshouldbettedtotherearposition.
INSTALLING THE PEDALS
(Yourownifnotorderedfromus)–Thepedal
threadsarehanded.Therighthandpedaltightens
inthenormaldirection;theleft-handpedalhas
aleft-handthread,andtightensintheopposite
directiontonormal.Tightenthepedalstothe
torqueshowninAppendixA.
BELL AND REFLECTORS
Reectorsandabellaresuppliedwithyour
tandem.Thebellcanbemountedanywhereon
thehandlebarswhereitcanbereachedeasily.
Thefrontreectorcanalsobeattachedtothe
handlebar.TherearreectortstotheStoker
seatpost,ensurethatthereectorisvisibleatthe
heightyouintendtohavethepostat.Ifnot,you
mayneedtorepositionthereectorsothatitis
visible.
STOKER CAPTAIN
PRE-RIDE
Checkallnuts,boltsandquickreleasestomake
sureeverythingistight(SeeappendixAfortorque
settings).Ensurethewheelsspinfreelyandthe
brakesfunctioncorrectly.
FIRST RIDE
Checkthegearsshiftcorrectly,refertotheOwner’s
manual,ormanufacturersmanual,foradjustment.
Payattentiontothetandmakeanyadjustments
required,onceyouarestationary.Finally,ensure
therearenorattlesorunexpectedsounds.
YoucannowrefertotheUser’smanualfornal
setupandon-goingmaintenance,orcontinue
readingifyouhaveaTriplet.
INSTALLING THE TRIPLET MODULE
TheTripletcomesassembledasatandemwiththe
Tripletsectionremoved.Firstthetandemneedsto
beseparated(refertotheSeparablemanualfor
doingthis).
NOTE-ForSTEPS,theelectricalcableswillneedto
bedetachedrst.Locatethecablesatthebaseof
thestokerseatpost,removetheplasticbungand
thengentlypullthecablesoutuntilthejunctions
areexposed,thenusetheDi2tooltoseparate
them.
NOTE - Onlydetachtheendofthejunctionthat
isn’theatshrinked.
Oncethetandemisseparated,youcanthen
attachtheTripletmodule.IfyouhaveaSTEPS
equippedtandem,youwillrstneedtothreadthe
electricalcablesthroughthetripletmaintubefrom
thefrontend,usethesteelwireprovidedtopullthe
cablesthrough.

Dependingonthecongurationofyourtriplet,the
fronttimingchaincomespre-connectedandcan
beinstalledwithoutseparating.Oncethechains
areinplacethechainscanbeliftedontothe
tensioners.
INSTALLING THE CABLES
Ifyouintendtoswitchbetweentripletandtandem
moderegularlythenwesuggestthatyouusethe
Velcrostrapsprovidedtoholdthecablesinplace
atthecablemountingpoints,otherwisethecables
canbeheldinplacewithzipties.
Installthetripletsectionontothefrontpartof
thebike,pushingitonuntilthecrossbarcoupling
meetswiththecouplingontheframe.
Note - Ensurethebrakeandgearcable(if
mechanicalsystem)areonthecorrectsideofthe
framebeforeproceeding.
Tightenthecouplingonthecrossbarrst,then
tightenthepinchboltsonthedrainpipe(refer
toAppendixAfortorquesettings).Thisorderis
important,asthecouplingalignstheframe,and
thelowersectionneedstobefreetorotatewhile
thishappens.
Youcannowtthereartriangle,followingthe
sameprocedureusedforthefrontsection.For
STEPSequippedbikesthecableswillneedtobe
connectedandthreadedbackintotheTriplet
maintubebeforedoingthis.
