EXTender 1000U Error Codes
To view these errors:
1. Access the Go Online? Menu
2. Press 3 (NEXT) until Diagnostics Menu? Press 2 (OK)
3. Press 3 (NEXT) until you see View RMT Stats or View Office (SWT) Stats, Press 2 (OK)
4. Scroll through and write down the number of times each error has occurred. Eg. 104A:1288
5. These errors will point out if problem is with the Office or Remote telco circuit or with hardware
ERROR
CODES DESCRIPTION EXPLANATION
101A Number of received Analog Voice packets that
contained a CRC error. (135A also
incremented)
Poor analog line quality. There were one or
more bit errors during transmission of the packet
from the far end. This count can increment
during normal operation. Consider a lower
connection rate to reduce errors.
102A Number of received Analog TCM Signaling
packets that contained a CRC error (135A also
incremented)
Same as ‘101A’.
103A Number of received Analog User Data packets
that contained a CRC error (135A also
incremented)
Same as ‘101A’.
104A Number of received modem packets that
contained an Invalid V42 Address (135A also
incremented)
Received HDLC packet that was not valid voice,
Signaling, or User Data. Should not occur on
the current code. Can also be poor analog line
quality (HDLC packet header had bit error).
105A Number of rejected Extender or phone
signaling packets received because they were
out of sequence
Far end rejected the signaling packet. Might
occur often. Should not cause a significant
functional problem.
106B Number of times Extender or phone signaling
packet re-transmissions exceeded maximum
(Causes Digital Port Data to be lost).
A packet of signaling data was sent with no
acknowledgement. After 5 tries this error is
incremented.
107B Number of times Extender or phone signaling
channel had to be re-synchronized. There was a request to re-synchronize the
signaling channel from the far end because there
was no acknowledgement. Excessive errors
would indicate a bad analog line. (high 135A
error count)
108B Number of times Extender or phone signaling
channel had no data for 16 consecutive
seconds.
Indicates that no data has been received for 16
seconds. Extender always sends a “keep alive”
every 8 seconds, so this error would indicate
data is not getting through the data modem
connection. Possibly a bad analog line.

ERROR
CODES DESCRIPTION EXPLANATION
109A Number of times Extender or phone signaling
channel timed out waiting for packet
acknowledgment.
Did not get a V42 signaling acknowledgement.
As long as you are not getting 106B errors, this
is not necessarily a problem. Excessive errors
or 106B errors indicate a problem with the
Analog line.
110C Number of times Extender or phone signaling
channel transmit locked up (transmit buffers full
when no data to send).
The 8 second TX timer timed out and buffers
were full. This should not occur. Needs further
investigation by customer service. Possibly a
hardware/software error.
111A Number of rejected serial data packets
received because they were out of sequence.
Far end rejected the signaling packet. Might
occur often.
Should not cause a significant
functional problem.
112B Number of times serial data packet re-
transmissions exceeded maximum (Causes
serial data to be lost).
Same as ‘111A’.
113B Number of times serial data channel had to be
re-synchronized. Same as ‘107B’.
114A Number of times serial data channel timed out
waiting for packet acknowledgment. Same as ‘109A’
115B (not incremented, analog uses 136/137) UD
channel discarded data due to Rx overflow (no
HW flow control)
N/A
116B TA/Modem - Loss of carrier Possibly a bad analog line. The connection to
the other end was broken. The other end could
have powered cycled or the wiring to the analog
lines could be faulty.
117C (not incremented on analog) TA check failed N/A
118C (not incremented on analog) communications
to DSP failed N/A
119B Number of times Digital port link re-activated.
Office side only. Digital port connection to the Office Module may
have intermittent connection problems. Digital
port signaling was temporarily lost and re-
initialized. Check the Digital port wiring.
120B Number of times Digital port connection was
lost or de-activated. Every 120B error also
increments 119B.
Digital port connection to the Office Module may
have been lost. Check the Digital port wiring.
121A (not incremented on analog) N/A
122B RVP (V42 link) failed, only incremented on
Office side Digital port connection to the Office Module may
have been lost. Check Digital port wiring. Very
poor analog line connection. No valid packet
transmission between the Office and Remote
modules.
123A User has accessed the Disconnect menu Indicates that the user has disconnected by
pressing Hold button 4 times and selecting
Disconnect.

CODES DESCRIPTION EXPLANATION
124C (not incremented on analog) N/A
125B (not incremented on analog) N/A
126C Invalid Length of SCC Tx Packet Contact your system administrator. Should
never occur.
127B SCC Transmit Busy Potential Hardware problem. If the Extender
performs abnormally and this error continues to
increment, contact customer service.
128A SCC RX Status Error DTE equipment is sending data at the wrong
baud rate.
129A SCC TX Status Error Same as ‘127B’.
130A Invalid Voice Packet ID Detected (voice packet
ID not enabled on analog) N/A
131A Times all user data Buffers were in Use Should not normally occur. A poor analog
connection may cause all user data buffers to be
in use. If the count continues and abnormal user
data operation occurs, contact customer service.
132A Times user data Packet is too long Should not normally occur. If the count
continues to increase with abnormal user data
operation, contact customer service.
133A Times all Signaling Buffers were in Use Should not normally occur. A poor analog
connection may cause all signaling buffers to be
in use. If the count continues and abnormal
phone operation occurs, contact customer
service.
134A Number of times Extender or phone signaling
packets too long Should not normally occur. If the count
continues to increase with abnormal phone
operation, contact customer service.
135A Modem - Asynchronous HDLC frame check
sum (FCS) errors A poor analog line. An HDLC packet had a bit
error. There may be ‘hits’ on the analog line.
136A Serial data transmit overflow to modem The hardware flow control on the PC may not be
enabled. Bad Serial cable.
137A Serial data receive overflow from modem The hardware flow control on the PC may not be
enabled. Bad Serial cable.
138B Modem - no V42 pkts have been received for 8
seconds – modem retrain Modem had to re-train (reconnect), possible
power outage on the Office Module. Poor
analog line quality.
139A (Office Module only) failed to connect from
COD or Dialback request
Office could not establish a modem connection.
Problems with the analog line or the modem.
140X 140 not used at this time N/A
144X 144 not used at this time N/A
