Eco-drivingisarangeofeverydaypracticesthatallowthemotoristtooptimisetheirfuelconsumptionandCO2emissions.
Optimise the use of your gearbox
Withamanualgearbox,moveoffgentlyandchangeupwithoutwaiting.
Duringaccelerationchangeupearly.
Withanautomaticgearbox,givepreferencetoautomaticmodeand
avoidpressingtheacceleratorpedalheavilyorsuddenly.
Drive smoothly
Maintainasafedistancebetweenvehicles,useenginebrakingrather
thanthebrakepedal,andpresstheacceleratorprogressively.These
practicescontributetowardsareductioninfuelconsumptionandCO2
emissionsandalsohelpsreducethebackgroundtrafficnoise.
Ifyourvehiclehascruisecontrol,makeuseofthesystematspeeds
above25mph(40km/h)whenthetrafficisflowingwell.
Control the use of your electrical
equipment
Beforemovingoff,ifthepassengercompartmentistoowarm,ventilateit
byopeningthewindowsandairventsbeforeusingtheairconditioning.
Above30mph(50km/h),closethewindowsandleavetheairvents
open.
Remembertomakeuseofequipmentthatcanhelpkeepthe
temperatureinthepassengercompartmentdown(sunroofandwindow
blinds...).
Switchofftheairconditioning,unlessithasautomaticregulation,as
soonasthedesiredtemperatureisattained.
Switchoffthedemistinganddefrostingcontrols,ifnotautomatic.
Switchofftheheatedseatassoonaspossible.
Switchofftheheadlampsandfrontfoglampswhentheleveloflight
doesnotrequiretheiruse.
Avoidrunningtheenginebeforemovingoff,particularlyinwinter;your
vehiclewillwarmupmuchfasterwhiledriving.
Asapassenger,ifyouavoidconnectingyourmultimediadevices
(film,music,videogame...),youwillcontributetowardslimitingthe
consumptionofelectricalenergy,andsooffuel.
Disconnectyourportabledevicesbeforeleavingthevehicle.
Eco-driving
Thegearshiftindicatorinvitesyouengagethemostsuitablegear:as
soonastheindicationisdisplayedintheinstrumentpanel,followit
straightaway.
Forvehiclesfittedwithanautomaticgearbox,thisindicatorappears
onlyinmanualmode.

Limit the causes of excess consumption
Spreadloadsthroughoutthevehicle;placetheheaviestitemsinthe
bottomoftheboot,ascloseaspossibletotherearseats.
Limittheloadscarriedinthevehicleandreducewindresistance(roof
bars,roofrack,bicyclecarrier,trailer...).Usearoofboxinpreference.
Removeroofbarsandroofracksafteruse.
Attheendofwinter,removesnowtyresandrefityoursummertyres.
Observe the recommendations on
maintenance
Checkthetyrepressuresregularly,whencold,referringtothelabelin
thedooraperture,driver'sside.
Carryoutthischeckinparticular:
- beforealongjourney,
- ateachchangeofseason,
- afteralongperiodoutofuse.
Don'tforgetthesparewheelandthetyresonanytrailerorcaravan.
Haveyourvehicleservicedregularly(engineoil,oilfilter,airfilter,
passengercompartmentfilter...)andobservethescheduleof
operationsrecommendedinthemanufacturer'sserviceschedule.
WithaBlueHDiDieselengine,iftheSCRsystemisfaultyyourvehicle
becomespolluting;gotoaCITROËNdealeroraqualifiedworkshop
withoutdelaytohavetheemissionsofnitrousoxidesbroughtbackto
thelegallevel.
Whenrefuelling,donotcontinueafterthethirdcut-offofthenozzleto
avoidanyoverflow.
Atthewheelofyournewvehicle,itisonlyafterthefirst1800miles
(3000kilometres)thatyouwillseethefuelconsumptionsettledownto
aconsistentaverage.

When the ignition is switched on

secondswhentheignitionisswitchedon.
Whentheengineisstarted,thesewarning
lampsshouldgooff.
Iftheyremainon,beforemovingoff,refertothe
informationonthewarninglampinquestion.
Associated warnings
Theillumination,fixedorflashing,ofcertain
warninglampsmaybeaccompaniedbyan
audiblesignalandthedisplayofamessage.

Whentheengineisrunningorthevehicleis
beingdriven,theilluminationofoneofthe
followingwarninglampsindicatesamalfunction
