QUICKSTART GUIDE
CITROËN C3 PICASSO

BONNET
- To release the bonnet, the front passenger door needs to be opened. Then the lever can be seen at
the bottom left of the passenger footwell.
- Remember to check the coolant, oil, screen wash and battery levels frequently.
- Please note, if the bonnet fails to close at first attempt, DO NOT push the bonnet closed (which could
damage it). Re-open and release from a greater height.

1THE KEYS TO YOUR CAR
- There are three buttons on the fob, which release the metal key, lock and unlock the car.
- The locking button (B) also has some additional features:
- Deadlocking the car – disconnects the door handles both on the outside and inside as a
security measure.
- Guide Me Home Lights – the headlights remain on for a short time, to help at night.
- ‘Find Me’ function – The indicators flash for 10 seconds for locating the car in a busy car park.

FUEL FLAP
- The tank capacity is 50 litres.
- During the filling of the tank, the filler cap can be hung on the hook on the inside of the flap.

TYRES
- The recommended tyre pressures are indicated on a label on the inside of the front passenger’s
door frame.
(For more details please refer to page 143 of the owner’s handbook).
ROOF BARS
- The roof bars are standard on the Exclusive model, but are also available as an accessory. They can
carry a maximum of 60kg when the transverse bars are added.

PARCEL SHELF
- The shelf can be removed, folded and stored under the boot floor when it is the upper position.

TORCH (ON EXCLUSIVE MODEL)
- The boot light, can also be used as a torch which lasts up to 45 minutes using the
rechargeable batteries.
- Automatically recharges whilst driving with the torch in its housing.
- There is an additional bracket (A) on the torch, which allows the torch to be propped up whilst on the
ground, lighting up the wheel bolts when changing a wheel at night.

SPACEBOX STORAGE SYSTEM
- The boot floor can be moved into two positions, lower and upper. Either to maximise the boot space
(lower), or to provide a flat load floor (upper).

BOOT FLAPS
- The Flaps (B) are used to bridge the gap when the rear seats are either in their forward most position or
folded down, providing a flat load floor, when the boot floor is in the upper position.
- If necessary, the flaps can be unclipped and removed.

SPARE WHEEL
- The spare wheel is stored under the boot mat.
- This is a ‘space-saver’ spare wheel. It is intended as a temporary measure and should not be used at
speeds in excess of 50mph.
- The use of ‘space-savers’ saves weight, which reduces CO2and fuel consumption.

FOLDING REAR SEATS
- The rear seats can be folded down at any point along the 150mm of forward and back adjustment.
- Even if the seats are at the forward-most position, there is no need to adjust the front seats or slide the
rear seats back. The rear seats have a release mechanism which will automatically slide the seats back
when folding them down.
- Please note, do not leave any objects on or under the seat when folding the seat.

RECLINING THE REAR SEAT BACKS
- The seat back angle is adjustable to three different positions.
- There are two levers on each seat, which can be used for this adjustment.

REAR CENTRE SEAT BELT
- The car is fitted with a third rear central seat belt which is roof-mounted and held in place magnetically.
- There are two buckles which are slightly different sizes and two stalks on the seats which are different
colours and sizes to aid distinction, allowing for correct installation.

REAR SIDE SEAT BELT LOOPS
- The rear outer seat belts are fitted with loops which stop them being trapped when repositioning
the seat.
- They keep the buckle at the upper most position in readiness for the next passenger.

SPACE BOX+ STORAGE SYSTEM (ON EXCLUSIVE MODEL)
(Not available with part leather interior trim)
SKI FLAP – Can only be opened from the rear seats by lowering the storage tray (arm rest) in the middle
of the rear seats and unclipping the flap at the top.
REAR WINDOW BLINDS – Are stored in the front part of the rear windows and need pulling backwards
to close them. Always guide the blind using the tab, both when opening and closing.
AIRCRAFT STYLE REAR TABLES – Be careful not to put too much pressure or weight onto the tables.
The reading light can be switched on and off independently, but only with the ignition on.
UNDERFLOOR COMPARTMENTS – There are two storage boxes under the footwell of the
rear passengers.

PANORAMIC GLASS SUNROOF SHUTTERS (OPTION)
- Always guide the blinds completely open, DO NOT let them go when opening as this can
cause damage.

FRONT PASSENGER SEAT FOLDING (ON EXCLUSIVE MODEL)
(Not available with part leather interior trim)
- The front seat folds down by lifting the lever at the top of the seat back on the door side.

DRIVER CONTROLS
- Before you drive your car, make sure you are fully aware of all the main controls needed whilst driving.

DRIVER’S SEAT ADJUSTMENTS
- There are several different adjustments
which can be made to the driver’s seat,
allowing for the most comfortable position.

STEERING WHEEL HEIGHT & REACH
- The steering wheel is adjustable for both the height and reach. The adjuster is on the bottom left of the
steering wheel.

AUTOMATIC RAIN SENSITIVE WINDSCREEN WIPERS
(OPTION ON VTR+ & STANDARD ON EXCLUSIVE)
- To activate this function push down on the windscreen wiper stalk.

WINDSCREEN WIPERS ‘MAINTENANCE POSITION’
- For up to one minute after switching off the ignition, press the windscreen wiper stalk down and the
wipers will move to a vertical position.
- This allows for the screen/wiper blades to be cleaned, changed or positioned for winter parking without
risking damage to the bonnet. Winter parking is leaving the wiper blades off the screen overnight
reducing the risk of frost damage to the blades.

AUTOMATIC ILLUMINATION OF HEADLAMPS
(OPTION ON VTR+ & STANDARD ON EXCLUSIVE)
- Once ‘AUTO’ has been activated, the headlamps will illuminate either when the light levels are low or if
the wipers are activated.
- Please note they do not necessarily respond to foggy conditions. In these types of conditions they may
be switched on manually and may also require the fog lamps.

‘GUIDE ME HOME’ LIGHTING
- Designed to improve the visibility whilst walking away from the vehicle, by keeping the headlamps on
temporarily after switching off the ignition.
- Automatic activation can be set for 15, 30 or 60 seconds through the onboard computer menu on
cars with ‘Automatic headlamps’ or manually for 30 seconds for those without, by pulling the lighting
stalk towards the steering wheel within 2 minutes after switching off the engine.

CRUISE CONTROL AND SPEED LIMITER (OPTION ON VT, STANDARD ON VTR+ & EXCLUSIVE)
- The minimum speed for setting either system is 25mph. The controls are located on the stalk (A) to
the left of the steering wheel.
- On the stalk, REG is for Cruise Control and LIM is the Speed Limiter.
- Cruise Control is designed to maintain one constant speed.
- Speed Limiter is designed not to allow for a speed to be exceeded.

COOLANT TEMPERATURE WARNING LIGHT
- In addition to the standard red engine temperature warning light, the C3 Picasso has been fitted with a
blue light indicating that the engine is cold. When illuminated, avoid any excessive acceleration.

‘AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKING’
- Designed for personal safety, the system locks the doors at speeds above 6mph (10km/h).
- It can be deactivated by pressing and holding the padlock button on the dash (A).
- All doors are unlocked as soon as either an internal door handle is used or an activation of the airbags.

CHILD LOCKS
- Press button (A) on the window control panel located on the driver’s door on an Exclusive, or on the
dashboard for VT and VTR+.
- This prevents the rear windows and doors from being opened from the rear seats. A warning lamp in
the instrument panel lights up for approximately 10 seconds each time the ignition is switched on.

REAR PARKING SENSORS (ON EXCLUSIVE MODEL)
- The sensors only work when in reverse gear at speed less than 6mph (10km/h).
- Activation of the system is confirmed by an initial beep when selecting reverse. The system will inform
of the presence of any obstacle located near the vehicle, by sound and a visual display.

6 AIR CONDITIONING

REAR SCREEN DE-ICING
- The Exclusive model has heated door mirrors which are activated by pressing the rear screen
de-icing button.

SCENTED AIR FRESHENER
- There is a scented air freshener control knob located in the central section of the dash (in the central
storage compartment or in front of the MyWay navigation screen).
- When changing the cartridge, keep the chrome control button. It isn’t supplied with the refills.

7 SAFETY
WARNING LIGHTS AND AUDIBLE WARNING SYSTEM FOR ALL UNFASTENED SEATBELTS
(VTR+ & EXCLUSIVE)
- There are seat belt warning lights for the driver, front and rear passengers which are displayed in the roof
console display, showing the outline of the vehicle and the various seating positions.

7 SAFETY
ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS) WITH ELECTRONIC BRAKEFORCE
DISTRIBUTION (EBD), EMERGENCY BRAKE ASSISTANCE (EBA)
ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAM (ESP) WITH TRACTION CONTROL (ASR)
- The C3 Picasso comes with ABS, EBD and EBA as standard and optional ESP/ASR on VTR+ and
Exclusive models, except on the 1.6HDi 16V 110hp with DPFS where it is standard.
- ABS prevents the wheels from locking when emergency braking, allowing you to steer round
an obstruction (The hazard lights will also be activated to warn other drivers).
- EBD maximizes stopping power.
- EBA applies an immediate maximum brake force.
- ESP is a reactionary system which is designed to keep the car stable in an emergency such as
a quick lane change.
- ASR prevents the wheels from spinning in low traction circumstances.
SWITCHING OFF ESP/ASR SYSTEMS
- In certain exceptional conditions such as starting the vehicle when stuck in mud, snow, or on loose
ground, you may wish to switch the system off by pressing the button, located on the dashboard.
If the warning lamp flashes then the ESP or ASR have been triggered and are operational.

AIRBAGS
- The car comes with a driver’s airbag and it also has a front passenger’s airbag which can be disarmed.
The ‘On/Off’ switch for the passenger airbag is located on the driver’s side of the dash board.

7 SAFETY
ISOFIX REAR PASSENGER SEAT
- For ISOFIX child seats, the rear outer seats have ISOFIX points, with roof mounted top tether points.

8 OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS
AUDIO SYSTEM WITH RDS FM/AM RADIO AND CD, MP3 PLAYER & AUX JACK SOCKETS
- As well as the standard features of the radio, there are some additional choices which can be made,
such as vehicle settings and radio parameters, changing the display screen, darkening the display screen
for night time driving, Traffic Announcements and playing of MP3 music.

STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS
- The main functions of the audio system can be operated from the stalk to the right of the
steering wheel.
- These include stored station selection, the menu, station search, the volume, mute and changing
the source.

8 OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS
‘MYWAY’ NAVIGATION SYSTEM (OPTION ON EXCLUSIVE MODEL)
- This integrated navigation system includes European mapping and live traffic information.
- As well as the usual audio function including the playing of MP3 tunes, the system has a built in
Bluetooth®connection for pairing with mobile phones.

USB BOX (OPTION)
- Socket(s) enabling a portable music source to be connected to the vehicle audio equipment.
(The connecting cables are not supplied and can be purchased from an electronics outlet)
- The Socket(s) located to the front-right of the lower console, between the front seats, accessible under
the «AUX » cover.

HIGH-PRESSURE WASHING
It is recommended to keep a minimum of 20cm between the high-pressure jet nozzle and the bodywork.
