EZ-8 Drum Sander
Operation and Safety
Safety Practices:
Sanding dust is flammable!
Empty and clean dust bag
when not in use.
Always wear safety
goggles, protective
clothing, and a dust mask
while sanding.
Keep the dust bag
emptied. Dust generated
from sanding wood floors
can spontaneously ignite
or explode. Promptly
dispose of any sanding
dust in a metal container
clear of any combustibles.
Do not dispose in a fire.
Keep the work area well
ventilated.
Sanding/finishing wood
floors can create an
explosive or combustible
environment. Do not
operate this machine
around solvents, thinners,
fuels, floor finishes, or any
other flammable materials.
Keep hands, feet, and
loose clothing away from
all moving parts on the
machine.
Disconnect the power cord
before replacing the pad or
the abrasive.
Never leave the machine
unattended while it is
connected to a power
source.

Application: Sand hardwood floors. Level uneven wood floors.
Set-up and operation
Follow the steps listed below to complete a floor sanding project safely.

Preparation:

1 Install handle and fasten latches.
2 Insert control link into notch and slide collar to
pin. Raise sanding drum with control level.
3 Install dust tube. Tie dust bag over bell opening
of dust tube.
4 Connect the handle pigtail to the motor cord.

Install abrasive (expandable drum, continuous
sleeve sandpaper OR standard drum flat
notched sandpaper).

Operational Instructions:
Step Action

Set exposed nails with hammer and punch.
Connect machine to grounded outlet. Press
switch to start.
2 Allow switch to return to run (R) position.

PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE; MACHINE
IS ALWAYS MOVING WHEN DRUM CONTACTS
FLOOR.

Slowly lower drum to floor with control handle.
Do not force handle down to floor. Allow to
float on floor.

Operational Techniques:
Work from right to left. For each forward pass, move the
machine 4” over the pass just finished. Retrace the reverse
path without overlapping. Keep sander in motion while drum
is engaged. Move the machine in the direction of the wood
grain. Sand at a constant pace. Feather-cut termination
point of pass by easing control lever up. Stagger
termination points.

Step Action
1 Press selector switch to off (O) position and
disconnect power supply when changing
abrasive.
2 Empty dust bag when it is 1/3 full. Sanding dust
can spontaneously ignite and cause fire or
explosion.
3 Inspect power cable for abrasion and replace
when needed.

Care and Maintenance:
Step Action
1 Periodically blow out dust from sanding
chamber.
2 Periodically remove debris from truck and caster
wheels.
3 Remove dust bag from machine and shake
thoroughly to remove sanding dust.
4 Turn bag inside out and machine wash in cold
water to maintain dust recovery.
5 Periodically check drive belts for fraying and
broken cogs. Realign affected belt.
6 Periodically check bearings for wear and
lubricate according to the owners manual.
