1 Introduction and intended purpose
T e precision turntable JumboDrive is an automatic object-positioning
table for t e angular accurate stepwise or continuous rotation of items
wit a permissible maximum mass until 200 kg. T e use is especially
appropriate for recording object movies, p otograp ic scans and multi-
angular perspectives.
T e turntable consists of a table box following a lig tweig t construc-
tion storing all mec anical elements and t e control electronics as well
as a stable rotary platform. C aracteristic for t is product is an ex-
tremely stable overall design wit a large diametrically ring pivot bear-
ing.
In t e rotary platform included t ere are fastening bores wit an intern-
al screw of 3/8 inc (p oto tripod socket) for mounting additional con-
structions.
T e specified working orientation is in principle standing on a ori-
zontal, stable base.
T e Turntable is only designed for working under normal studio condi-
tions and is not permitted to use under t e influence of rain, ig u-
midity, dusty or ot er aggressive environmental influences.
1.1 Notes on safety:
Caution! The following notes on safety have to be implicitely ob
served as otherwise, the danger for persons is a consequence!
During t e operation t ere are mass-s iftings and acceleration-
strengt s necessitated by t e function. It is to be guaranteed t erefore,
t at t e installation on a sufficiently stable base is always steady and

non-skid and wit out possible collision of t e rotating objects wit t e
device itself or in interaction wit ot er objects, e.g. camera, cables or
lamps.
In general, only t e installation of items, not of persons, on t e rotary
platform, is designated. T e manufacturer does not t ake over any liabil -
ity for t e ride of persons . Instead, t e user as to care for t e stand and
fall protection in suc cases, as suc actions are not designated at t e
device. It is pointed out, t at during t e operation, rotational accelera-
tions and decelerations occur t at can be followed by eavy falls of rid-
ing persons suc as t e rotary motion itself. Likewise, t e on and off of
persons onto t e rotary platform or down from it as to be secured wit
appropriate aids or by assistants, as t e platform can easily be rotated
in operational breaks and t erefore, can turn away w en entering or
leaving.
During operating, strong torques between t e rotary platform and t e
table box are produced. It as to be ensured t at neit er persons nor
items stuck between t e rotary platform and t e table box.
As power supply and data cables, only t e original cables offered by
t e manufacturer ave to be used. T e usage of ot er cables can be fol-
lowed by serious damage at t e device, for w ic t e manufacturer
does not take over any warranty. Furt ermore, t e original cable is not
permitted to use for ot er purposes.
If t e device is opened, e.g. by dismounting t e rotary platform, t e
supply voltage as to be disconnected before and until re-closing by
unplugging t e power cord.
For damages, also secondary damages, w ic are caused by non-ob-
servance of t ese tips at t e Turntable, ot er objects or persons, t e
manufacturer does not take over any liability.

2 Device definition
2.1 The Components
In t e scope of delivery, t e following components are included:
–Turntable
–Power supply cable
–Antenna to screw on
–6-pin MiniDIN-camera trigger cable extension
–Data storage device wit PC-Software
–t is manual
Additionally, t ere are a range of optional components available at t e
distributor or manufacturer, e.g. trigger cables suitable for different
camera models, RS-232-/USB cables and many more. Please find a
current overview of t e entire delivery program in t e internet at
www.dr clauss.de.
3 Getting started
3.1 Installation
T e Turntable is to be placed at a plane, orizontal, stable and non-skid
surface. T e levelling into a orizontal using position is ac ieved by
twisting t e feet. For t at purpose, a water level can be used. It s ould
be noted t at surface irregularities are carefully balanced at every
single of t e eig t feet of t e device in order to ensure a uniform load
transfer and to avoid a deformation of t e base frame if moving eavy

loads. T e feet of t e device ave to be adjusted by screwing in and out
in order to ave t em all touc ing t e installation surface.
3.2 Electric connections
T e power supply is realised wit t e supplied Power supply cable
from a standardized 230 V - socket.
T e connection wit t e controlling PC is, in t e easiest case, pro-
ceeded via Bluetoot by using t e supplied screw-on antenna.
If using our separately available RS-232/USB cable set, t is set is to be
connected eit er wit t e serial exit at t e PC (so-called separately
available RS232, COM1, COM2, serial or t e like) or by using t e cor-
responding USB adapter wit USB connection at t e PC.
At t e 6-pin DIN-connector t e camera trigger cable is being connec-
ted by using t e supplied extension cable. For t is purpose, t e
Turntable accesses two potential free normally open contacts. T e
camera trigger cables t at are suitable for t e respective camera are
separately offered and can be purc ased separately.
Please note: For some cameras, t e remote-control-connector must be
activated by t e camera-menu.
By laying t e cable, please ensure t at t e turntable is able to move
wit t e objects placed on it.

3.3 Control , Indicating and Connecting elements
BAT/SUP On-/Standby switc : Operational readiness in position
SUP. In position BAT, t e device is in a Standby mode. In
case of longer breaks, we recommend to unplug t e power
cord, as t e power supply unit of t e device is furt er on
active. Before switc ing off t e device after usage, t e
controlling software is always to be closed (PDA, PC,
Laptop).
BUS Control indicator data bus:

Yellow LED: Status RS232 (Mini-DIN-connector)
Green LED: External data bus (spare)

4 Installation of the controlling software
4.1 Installation of the controlling software on a PDA (Handheld)
Requirements:
•Hardware: We only recommend available types of PDA t at we
tested ourselves. For ot er systems , t e functionality can not be
guaranteed.
Basic requirements:
- Bluetoot Class 1 or 2
- Aspect ratio 4:3 (Touc screen)
- Type of processor: ARM V.4 oder ARM V.5
- 2MByte free Flas storage
•Software: Windows Mobile 2003 / 5 / 6.x
Wit t e controlling software „RODEONmodular“ contained in t e
scope of delivery you can control t e Turntable just like using a re-
mote control or by programming complete motions wit camera
s utter releases. Free updates are available at our download center at
ttp://www.dr-clauss.de.
You can get more information about using t e PDA in t e correspond-
ing operation manual t at is included in t e provided product-CD. It is
pointed out insistently, t at using t e PDA is muc different to using a
PC wit MS-Windows.
T e currently offered Pocket-PC's/ PDA's are partially very muc dif-
ferent in t eir storage management. Often, a ardware reset or removal
of t e accumulator is causing t e lost of all data t at was not explicitly
copied into t e ROM of t e device. T e ROM (read only memory) is
understood as t e storage t at keeps it's data even wit out power sup-

ply. In t is case we recommend to copy t e installation files into t e
ROM in order to be able to ave access to t em in every situation.
Please follow t e furt er instructions to install t e controlling software
„RODEONmodular“:
1. Switc on t e PDA and, if necessary, proceed t e usual procedure
(e.g. adjusting t e touc screen etc.).
2. Start t e file explorer and c ange into t e directory wit t e installa-
tion files (if needed, c ange to „My Device“ and „ROM Storage“
or „Recovery“).
3. Open installation files in t is order and follow t e instructions:
- CLAUSS_RootCA.cab (not available in Windows Mobile
2003)
- RodeonAPI.cab
- RODEONmodular_GUI.cab
T e controlling software is now installed and ready to use.
Please note: Some types of PDA allow linking t e programs by
quick buttons. If t is function is not supported, suc a linking can be
placed on t e desktop for ac ieving a faster operating principle.
4. Activate t e Bluetoot interface of t e PDA (often by clicking on
t e blue Bluetoot symbol in t e lower rig t corner of t e screen).
5. By using t e Bluetoot manager, searc for new devices in t e sur-
rounding (often by using t e menu item „New“ and „searc for
Bluetoot device“). T e RODEON modular must be switc ed on
wit t e installed antenna in order to find it as Bluetoot device.
6. After t e device was found, a symbol wit t e designation
„RODEONmodular“ appears. Please c oose t is symbol by clicking

on it and type in t e password CLAUSS (in capitals!) and confirm
wit Enter/Return.
7. Please activate „Generic Serial“ and, if necessary, assign port (e.g.
COM 9).
8. Confirm wit „ready“ and close t e Bluetoot manager.
T e installation is now completed.
After t e start of t e controlling software t e PA automatically con-
nects wit t e RODEON JumboDrive and work can be started.
4.2 Installation of the controlling software on a Windows PC
System requirements:
- Windows 2000/XP/Vista
Desktop-PC/Laptop
Bluetoot Class 1, 2 (wireless) or RS232-/USB-interface
CD-ROM drive for installation
You can find t e program „RODEONmodular“ on t e supplied CD in
t e directory „Software“. T is program is used for remote-controlling
t e Turntable and for automation of complete object motions.
For creating object movies, a demo version of t e software Object2VR
can be found on t e product-CD in t e subfolder „Utilities“.
Furt er ints for t e installation of t e controlling software, an optional
Bluetoot module on a PC and for fault tracing can be found in t e op-
eration manual on CD.

6 Maintenance and Extension hints
T e device is designed for maintenance-free use wit in t e full life
time. It as to be used wit in t e permitted usage conditions and to
keep clean from soiling.
Unscrewing t e rotary platform is not recommended as t ere are as-
semblies below t at must be serviced. If additional constructions
s ould be mounted at t e rotary platform, t is is possible by using t e
flus ed 3/8-inc tripod socket wit out removing t e platform.
If repairs s ould be necessary, we recommend to ave t is only done
by t e manufacturer because by doing so, t e full recovery of all tec -
nical data can be ensured.
7 Guarantee
Guarantee terms, scope and conditions
If a product manufactured by Dr. Clauss Bild- und Datentec nik GmbH (CLAUSS)
turns out to be defective wit in 24 mont s after t e purc ase date at t e trader or dir-
ectly at t e manufacturer (please present t e original invoice or sales receipt),
CLAUSS provides and onors t is guarantee against t e first final user worldwide.
During t is guarantee period, all defects t at affect t e practical value of t e device
and result from material or manufacturing defects or processing errors will be
remedied at t e cost of t e manufacturer wit own discretion by repair or replacement
following t e terms and limitations below. Optical deficiencies are excluded from
t ese guarantee terms. All products and parts of products t at were replaced become
property of CLAUSS. Repair and partially replacement does not prolong t e origin-
ally warranty period.
For repair or replacement, t e product as to be send in to t e manufacturer in suffi-
cient packing. T e costs occurring for a safe transport to t e manufacturer and back
to t e customer as to be paid by t e customer. Customers bear t e transportation

risk. T erefore, we recommend to take out a suitable and sufficient transportation in-
surance. Furt ermore, t e returned products ave to be immediately c ecked if t ey
are intact and free of defects after receiving in order to observe existing deadlines for
indication and complaint. Removable media and potential accessories ave to be re-
moved before submitting t e product for exercising t e warranty claim in order to
avoid t eir loss and data loss. Installed software, files and programs ave to be se-
cured before repair, back-uped and re-installed after t e repair again. Purc ased parts
and components by ot er manufacturers are excluded from guarantee by CLAUSS. In
t ese cases, t e requirements of t e particular manufacturers apply.
Limitations and Exclusions
Interventions into t e device by unaut orized t ird parties, impermissible adaptions
or c anges implemented at t e product as well as c anging, deleting, removing or de-
facement of t e serial number result in t e termination of t is warranty claim.
Besides t e above-named cases, t ere is no guarantee accepted for quality, precision,
and performance as well as fitness for purpose, reliability, or furt er product c arac-
teristics or c aracteristics of t e associated software (not explicitly, not implicit, not
legally, not ot erwise). T is guarantee does not cover t e periodic maintenance and
inspection of t e product, repair or parts replacement due to fair wear and tear, dam-
ages or defects, t at are caused by use, running or treatment of t e product and w ic
do not correspond to normal, common and intended use, as well as damages respect-
ively product c anges by inappropriate use including damages caused by:
–Non-observance of t e installation instructions and care and service instruc-
tions
–p ysical treatment, t at is causing surface or cosmetic damages or damage to
liquid crystal displays
–installation or product use for anot er purpose t an intended
–use of t e product wit ot er systems, devices or spare parts t an CLAUSS-
products w ic are not designed for or approved for using it wit t e
product
–product installation against tec nical standards or safety laws in t e country
w ere it is installed or used
–product upgrades, t at result in features or specifications described in t e in-
struction manual becoming void
–Software, t at was not included in t e scope of delivery or software t at was
installed inappropriate

–force majeure and ot er circumstances t at are not open to t e manufac-
turer's influence
Guarantee furt ermore excludes
–adjustment work and recalibration of t e device
–damages at resp. loss of software programs or removable media or con-
sequences of a virus attack
–furt er material/ immaterial losses or consequential damages like loss of im-
age, loss of order, loss of orders or earnings, absence from duty, profit set-
back, data loss, unavailability or function failure of t e product resp. associ-
ated components
If t ese legal disclaimers s ould be completely or partly contradicting t e applicable
law , t e guarantee terms and liability are restricted to t e extend as t e applicable
law allows. T e liability wit in t e scope of t is guarantee is eig twise restricted to
t e purc ase price of t e product. If t e applicable law provides only for ig er liab-
ility limits, t ese ig er limitations of liability apply. T ere is no rig t of furt er
claims.
Customer's legal rights are reserved
Following national laws related to t e sale of customer products, customers may ave
legal rig ts. T is guarantee is not limiting t e legal claims you may ave resulting
from t e sale contract nor rig ts against t e person from w om you purc ased t e
product.
Data privacy
T e Dr. Clauss Bild- und Datentec nik GmbH (CLAUSS) is saving and using all cus-
tomer data for processing and administration of t e warranty case and is allowed to
pass on to aut orities t ese data if legally necessary.
CLAUSS is allowed to pass on all customer data to agencies and associated enter-
prises for customer service and marketing purposes. Beyond t at, t ere will be no
pass on of t ese data to t ird parties.
