Operation and Maintenance of the Hydraulic Hose Saw
This saw is a rugged and dependable tool when used and maintained properly. As with any tool,
good operating procedure is important for tool life and operator safety.
Operating Procedure
1. Always secure the saw to the bench by bolting (note holes for bolts in gussets) or clamping
(clamp to gussets on both sides of saw). If not done properly, the saw could fall forward off the bench
during cutting! SAFETY FIRST
2. Set pin placement for the size hose you are cutting using the following guidelines:
The hose bends over permanent pins “A”. Depending on your hose size, screw movable pins into
holes “B”, “C”, “D” or “E”. Smaller hoses bend in a tighter radius so use the lower pin placement “B”
and move up the scale has hose size increases. Factors such as hose size, construction type, new
or used and brand can all affect how the hose will cut. The operator will have to determine what the
optimal pin placement is for the particular hose being cut.
Using the handle switch, start the saw and bring the blade up to full speed before beginning the cut.
Power the blade through the hose with steady but light pressure. Let the blade cut without stalling the
motor. A sharp blade cuts best. Monitor your cuts and when the cut quality (smooth and square) is
no longer satisfactory replace the blade. These blades can be refurbished by returning to Specialty
Saw, Inc. Under normal use, a blade should last for a long time. Factors that affect blade life are
hose size and construction (braided vs multi-spiral).
3. The saw has a stop that is adjusted at the factory to allow folding the saw and locking with the pin
to keep it compact for portability if desired. Use caution to keep the stop adjusted properly or the saw
blade may come in contact with the saw base.
4. Capacity – The saw has been tested at the factory to cut up to 1-1/4” four wire multi-spiral. Larger
hoses may be cut but operator caution is recommended. Do not stall the blade, as the motor life will
be shortened.

Maintenance
1. Changing the blade. Unplug the power cord and prop open the spring loaded guard. The
Milwaukee saw utilizes a “Fixtec” nut that requires no tools. Open the latch and turn the nut off
(righthand threads). If it’s too tight, use the spanner wrench supplied with the saw to loosen the nut
(do not use the spanner upon reassembly, hand tighten only). It’s important to note the direction of
rotation of the blade and install it correctly. Incorrect rotation will cause poor quality cuts and shorten
blade life.
2. Maintenance is the same as for a standard chop saw. The Milwaukee factory manual is supplied
to assist the operator with general up keep of the saw.
