TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK OR INJURY:
• Do not run vacuum unattended.
• Do not vacuum, or use this Ash Vacuum near
flammable liquids, gases, or explosive vapors like
gasoline or other fuels, lighter fluids, cleaners, oil-based
paints, natural gas, hydrogen, or explosive dusts like
coal dust, magnesium dust, grain dust, or gun power.
Sparks inside the motor can ignite flammable vapors or
dust.
• Do not vacuum anything that is burning or smoking,
such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.
• For cold ash only, “Cold Ash” is ash cooled down
for a sufficient time without any pockets of embers
inside. This can be confirmed by scouring the ash for
pockets of embers by using metal tools before using
the ash vacuum cleaner. Cold ash does not emit any
recognizable heat.
• Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
• Do not expose to rain. Store indoors.
• Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the
plug, not the cord.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
1. Read and understand all instructions before using this
vacuum.
2. Read and understand this manual and all labels on the
Ash Vacuum before operating.
3. Use this Ash Vacuum only as described in this manual.
To reduce the risk of personal injury or damage to your
Ash Vacuum, use only recommended accessories.
FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY.
• Do not use with damaged cord, plug or other parts.
• If the appliance is not working as it should, has missing
parts, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or
dropped into water, return it to a service center. Do not
open appliance or attempt to repair.
• Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as handle, close
a door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or
corners.
• Do not run over the cord.
• Do not handle plug or the Ash Vacuum with wet
hands.
• To reduce the risk of health hazards from vapors or
dusts, do not vacuum toxic materials.
• Do not use or store near hazardous materials.
• Do not use this vacuum with a torn filter or without
the filter installed. Only use filters supplied by Cleveland
Ironworks.
• Only use accessories or service parts supplied by the
Cleveland Ironworks or authorized service agent.
• Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is
necessary when used by or near children.
• To reduce the risk of injury from accidental starting,
unplug power cord before changing or cleaning filter.
• Do not leave the vacuum unattended when plugged
in. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before
servicing.
• The use of the vacuum can result in foreign objects
being blown into the eyes. Always wear safety goggles
complying with ANSI Z87.1 (or in Canada CSAZ94.3)
when operating vacuum.
• Use extra care when vacuuming stairs.
• Turn off the Ash Vacuum before unplugging.
• Do not put any object into ventilation openings. Do not
vacuum with any ventilation openings blocked; keep
free of dust, lint, hair or anything that may reduce air
flow.
• Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body
away from openings and moving parts.
• Empty and clean vacuum cleaner before and after
vacuuming to avoid the collection of materials that
could pose a fire hazard in the vacuum cleaner.

DOUBLE INSULATION INSTRUCTIONS
EXTENSION CORDS
This Ash Vacuum is double-insulated, eliminating the need for a separate grounding system. Use only identical replacement
parts. Read the instructions for Servicing Double-Insulated Ash Vacuums before servicing. Use this Ash Vacuum as described in
this manual. Observe the following warnings that pertain to the motor on your Vacuum.

When using an extension cord with your vacuum, refer to the following table to determine the required A.W.G. wire size.
Before using the Ash Vacuum, make sure the power cord and extension cord are in good working conditions. Make repairs or
replacements before using the vacuum cleaner. Only use extension cords that are rated for outdoor use.
WARNING: SERVICING OF DOUBLE-INSULATED APPLIANCE
With a double-insulated vacuum, two systems of insulation are provided instead of grounding. No grounding means is
provided on a double-insulated appliance, nor should a means for grounding be added. Servicing a double insulated vacuum
requires extreme care and knowledge of the system, and should be done only by qualified service personnel. Replacement
parts for a double-insulated vacuum must be identical to the parts they replace. Your double-insulated vacuum is marked with
the words ‘double insulated’ and the symbol (square within a square ) may also be marked on the appliance.

UNPACKING
1. Remove ash vacuum from carton.
2. Check the appliance for possible shipping damage
and make sure all the parts are included. See Getting
Started. If any damage is found immediately contact
the manufacturer at 1-800-251-0001.
ASSEMBLING FOR VACUUMING
1. Unlock the latches and remove the power head lid.
2. Attach the filter set to the bottom of the head.
Reattach the power head to the container and secure it
with the latches.
3. Insert the metal tube into the flexible hose and insert
the other end of the flexible hose into the vacuum port
and rotate 1/4 turn counter-clockwise. See Figure 1A
and 1B.

ASSEMBLING FOR BLOWING
1. Insert the metal tube into the flexible hose and insert
the other end of the flexible hose into the air outlet on
top of the power head lid and turn counter-clockwise
to lock. See Figure 2.

OPERATION
1. Plug in the power cord and turn the vacuum cleaner
power switch ON.
2. When the container is full or it feels difficult to vacuum
more dust, the cartridge filter needs to be taken out
and cleaned.
3. When vacuuming the fireplace ash, the ash
temperature must be below 100˚°F (40˚°C). Do not
vacuum the ashes if fire is not extinguished!
4. Run the unit for 30 seconds after you have finished
cleaning your stove or fireplace to ensure all materials
are safely captured in the container.
5. When finished, turn the power switch OFF.
6. Pull out power cord from outlet and roll up. Remove
flexible tube.
7. Remove power head and empty and wash out vacuum
container. Dry out container with rag.
WARNING: ALWAYS DISCONNECT THE PLUG FROM
THE POWER OUTLET BEFORE REMOVING THE POWER
HEAD FROM CONTAINER.
8. Remove and clean filter as described below in
Maintenance section.
IMPORTANT: Vacuuming materials, which appear to
have cooled down, may still be very hot inside. Hot ash
particles may ignite again with airflow. Wait until the fire is
extinguished and the ashes have cooled down before you
begin with the cleaning. It is not recommended to quickly
extinguish the fire with water. Please make sure that ovens
are cold before you vacuum to clean ovens. Temperature
exceeding 100˚°F (40˚°C) may damage the vacuum cleaner
and the components included. Continuously check tubes,
ash filter, and vacuum cleaner for excessive temperatures
during the vacuum cleaning. If you notice a temperature
rise, switch off the vacuum cleaner immediately. Disconnect
the vacuum cleaner from the power outlet and remove the
filter. Remove the vacuumed material from the ash filter.
CAUTION: In case of excessive temperatures, the tubes,
the ash filter, or the vacuum cleaner may be damaged.
Completely empty the vacuum cleaner and the ash
filter in a safe area after the vacuum cleaning. Let both
appliances (vacuum cleaner and ash filter) cool down under
supervision.
POLARIZED PLUG
To reduce the risk of electrical shock, this appliance has a
double polarized plug (one with the blade wider than the
other). This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way.
If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug.
If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install
the proper outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.
Double insulation eliminates the need for the three wire
grounded power cord and grounded power supply system.
WARNING: Be sure to read, understand, and apply
information, entitled ‘Safety Instructions & Warnings’.
Do not vacuum in areas with flammable gases, vapors,
or explosive dusts in the air. Flammable gases or vapors
include but are not limited to; lighter fluid, solvent type
cleaners, oil-base paints, gasoline, alcohol or aerosol
sprays. Explosive dusts include but are not limited to; coal,
magnesium, grain or gun powder. To reduce the risk of
health hazards from vapors or dust, do not vacuum toxic
materials.

MAINTENANCE
The container and outer shell of the power head need to
be cleaned frequently with clean water.
Removing and Cleaning the Filters
1. Verify that the power cord is disconnected from the
outlet.
2. Remove the power head lid and position upside down.
3. Unlock and remove the filter screen from the lock-
clamps by turning counter-clockwise. See Figure 3A
and 3B.

4. Carefully remove the cartridge filter. See Figure 4.

5. Clean the cartridge filter by gently tapping or brushing
dirt off.
6. Carefully remove the pre-filter from the container and
clean the ash or dirt from the filter by gently tapping or
brushing the ash or dirt off.
IMPORTANT! CLEANING SHOULD NOT BE DONE
INDOORS. DISPOSE OF ASH AND DIRT IN A NON-
COMBUSTIBLE RECEPTACLE. FOR OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE,
A NEW FILTER IS RECOMMENDED.
Reinstalling Filter
1. Install the cartridge filter so that it is flush with the
vacuum power head lid. Make sure that the cartridge
filter is pushed in until it stops against the power head.
See Figure 5.

2. Place filter screen over the cartridge filter and align the
lock tabs. Turn the filter screen clockwise to lock into
place, do not over tighten. See Figure 6A and 6B.

DESEMBALAJE
1. Saque la aspiradora de cenizas de la caja.
2. Revise el artefacto por posibles daños de envío y
asegúrese de que todas las piezas estén incluidas.
Consulte “Introducción”. Si encuentra algún daño llame

ARMADO PARA USAR COMO
ASPIRADORA
1. Destrabe las trabas y remueva la tapa del cabezal del
motor.
2. Coloque el juego de filtros en la parte de abajo del
cabezal. Vuelva a colocar el cabezal del motor en la
carcasa y asegúrelo con las trabas.
3. Inserte el tubo de metal en la manguera flexible e inserte
el otro extremo de la manguera flexible en el puerto de
entrada, girándolo 1/4 de vuelta en sentido antihorario.

1. Inserte el tubo de metal en la manguera flexible e inserte
el otro extremo de la manguera flexible en el puerto de
salida que está encima del cabezal del motor, girándolo
1/4 de vuelta en sentido antihorario para trabarlo.

OPERACIÓN
1. Enchufe el cable de alimentación y encienda el interruptor
de encendido de la aspiradora.
2. Cuando el recipiente está lleno o se haga difícil aspirar
más polvo, tendrá que sacar y limpiar el filtro.
3. Al aspirar la ceniza de la chimenea, la temperatura de la
ceniza debe ser inferior a 100 �F (40 �C). ¡No aspire las
cenizas sin haber apagado el fuego!
4. Mantenga funcionando la unidad durante 30 segundos
después de haber terminado de limpiar su estufa o
chimenea para asegurarse de que todos los materiales
queden capturados de manera segura dentro del cuerpo
de la aspiradora.
5. Cuando haya terminado, apague el interruptor de
encendido.
6. Desenchufe y enrolle el cable de alimentación. Remueva la
manguera flexible.
7. Remueva el cabezal del motor y vacíe y lave la carcasa de
la aspiradora. Séquela con un trapo.
ADVERTENCIA: SIEMPRE DESCONECTE EL ENCHUFE
DEL TOMACORRIENTE ANTES DE REMOVER EL CABEZAL DEL
MOTOR.
8. Remueva y limpie el filtro como se describe a continuación
en la sección de Mantenimiento.
IMPORTANTE: Los materiales aspirados, que parecen haberse
enfriado, aún podrían estar muy calientes por dentro. Las
partículas de ceniza caliente podrían volver a encenderse con
el flujo de aire. Espere hasta que el fuego se apague y las
cenizas se hayan enfriado antes de comenzar con la limpieza.
No se recomienda extinguir rápidamente el fuego con agua.
Asegúrese de que los hornos estén fríos antes de limpiarlos
con la aspiradora. Una temperatura superior a 100 �F
(40 �C) podría dañar la aspiradora y los componentes incluidos.
Revise continuamente las mangueras, el filtro de cenizas y
la aspiradora para detectar temperaturas excesivas durante
la limpieza. Si nota un aumento de temperatura, apague la
aspiradora inmediatamente. Desconecte la aspiradora del
tomacorriente y remueva el filtro. Remueva el material aspirado
del filtro de cenizas.
CUIDADO: En caso de temperaturas excesivas, las
mangueras, el filtro de cenizas o la aspiradora podrían dañarse.
Vacíe completamente la aspiradora y el filtro de cenizas en
un área segura después de la limpieza. Deje enfriar ambos
(aspiradora y filtro de cenizas) bajo supervisión.
ENCHUFE POLARIZADO
Para reducir el riesgo de una descarga eléctrica, este artefacto
posee un enchufe polarizado (una pata es más ancha que la
otra). Este enchufe entra completamente en un tomacorriente
polarizado en una sola posición. Si no entra, inviértalo. Si
todavía no entra completamente, llame a un electricista
calificado para que instale un tomacorriente apropiado. No
intente modificar el enchufe de ninguna manera. El doble
aislamiento elimina la necesidad de un cable de alimentación
de tres conductores con conexión a tierra y un tomacorriente
con conexión a tierra.
ADVERTENCIA: Asegúrese de leer, comprender y aplicar
la información titulada "Instrucciones y advertencias de
seguridad". No aspire en áreas con gases o vapores inflamables
o con polvos explosivos en el aire. Los gases o vapores
inflamables incluyen, entre otros, líquido para encendedores,
limpiadores tipo solvente, pinturas a base de aceite, gasolina,
alcohol o aerosoles. Los polvos explosivos incluyen, pero no se
limitan a, carbón, magnesio, granos o pólvora. Para reducir el
riesgo de peligros para la salud por vapores o polvos, no aspire
materiales tóxicos.

MANTENIMIENTO
El recipiente y la parte exterior del cabezal del motor deben
limpiarse frecuentemente con agua limpia.
Extracción y limpieza de los Filtros
1. Verifique que el cable de alimentación esté
desenchufado del tomacorriente.
2. Remueva la tapa del cabezal del motor y colóquela al
revés.
3. Destrabe y remueva la rejilla del filtro de las trabas de
bloqueo girándola en sentido antihorario. Consulte las
figuras 3A y 3B.

4. Saque el filtro cuidadosamente. Consulte la figura 4.

5. Limpie el filtro golpeándolo suavemente o quitándole la
suciedad con un cepillo.
6. Remueva con cuidado el filtro de entrada de la carcasa
y limpie la ceniza o la suciedad del filtro golpeándolo
suavemente o cepillando la ceniza o la suciedad.
¡IMPORTANTE! LA LIMPIEZA NO DEBE HACERSE EN
INTERIORES. DESECHE LA CENIZA Y LA SUCIEDAD EN
UN RECIPIENTE NO COMBUSTIBLE. PARA MANTENER EL
RENDIMIENTO ÓPTIMO, SE RECOMIENDA INSTALAR UN
FILTRO NUEVO.
Reinstalación del filtro
1. Instale el filtro de manera que quede al ras con la tapa
del cabezal del motor de la aspiradora. Asegúrese de
empujar el filtro hacia adentro hasta que se detenga
contra el cabezal del motor. Consulte la figura 5.

2. Coloque la rejilla del filtro sobre el filtro y alinee las
pestañas de traba. Gire la rejilla del filtro en el sentido
de las agujas del reloj para bloquearla en su lugar, no la
apriete demasiado. Consulte las figuras 6A y 6B.

• Pour cendres froides seulement. La « cendre froide » est de
la cendre qui a refroidi suffisamment longtemps sans que

agitant les cendres avec un outil en métal avant d’utiliser
l’aspirateur à cendres, afin d’y trouver toute braise. Les
cendres froides ne produisent pas de chaleur.

L’ASPIRATEUR AVANT DE L’ENTRETENIR
Si vous utilisez une rallonge électrique avec votre aspirateur, consultez le tableau suivant pour déterminer le calibre AWG de
cordon requis. Avant d’utiliser l’aspirateur à cendres, assurez-vous que le cordon d’alimentation et que la rallonge électrique
sont en bonne condition de fonctionnement. Faites toute réparation ou tout remplacement de pièce avant d’utiliser
l’aspirateur. N’utilisez que des rallonges électriques homologuées pour l’utilisation à l’extérieur.
AVERTISSEMENT : ENTRETIEN DES APPAREILS À ISOLATION DOUBLE
Avec un aspirateur à isolation double, deux systèmes d’isolation sont utilisés au lieu de la mise à la terre. Aucune méthode de
mise à la terre n’est fournie avec un appareil à isolation double, et aucune méthode de mise à la terre ne doit y être ajoutée.
L’entretien d’un aspirateur à isolation double exige un soin extrême et des connaissances particulières du système, et doit
donc être fait par du personnel qualifié seulement. Les pièces de rechange pour un aspirateur à isolation double doivent être
identiques aux pièces qu’elles remplacent. Votre aspirateur à isolation double porte les mots « double insulated » et ce symbole
(un carré dans un carré) peut aussi figurer sur l’appareil.
