Using Your SE 2O2OXSecurity System
The 2-Button/3-Channel Remote Controls
Your two 2-button/3-channel remote controls are miniature radio transmitters that
send three distinct digital codes up to 150 feet. Obstructions, interference or a weak
battery will reduce the range. The remote control is the key to your security system.
Use it to arm or disarm the system, lock or unlock the doors, activate its panic
feature or control options such as a remote trunk release.
TO ARM
THE SYSTEM . . . . . . . Press button I once. You will hear two chirps and the parking
lights will flash twice. The dashboard LED will flash repeat-
edly and the car doors will automatically lock. Any attempt to
break into the vehicle will immediately disable the starter,
sound the siren and flash the parking lights.
TO DISARM
THE SYSTEM . . . . . . . Press button I again. One chirp and one flash of the parking
lights will confirm disarming. In addition, the car doors will
automatically unlock.
TO SILENTLY
ARM OR DISARM
THE SYSTEM . . . . . . .
Simultaneously press buttons I+II. The system will arm or dis-
arm with all the indications noted above except the chirp ac-
knowledgments.
TO ACTIVATE
THE PANIC
FEATURE . . . . . . . . . .
Press button I for 3 seconds. The lights will flash repeatedly
and the siren will blare for 30 or 60 seconds (user-selectable),
or until you press button I again to turn it off.
TO ACTIVATE AN
OPTION . . . . . . . . . . Button II controls an optional accessory such as a remote
trunk release, SmartWindows II, the headlight activation fea-
ture of NightVision, the remote controlled voice-silencing fea-
ture of Sense & Tell, IntelliStart remote engine starter, your
electric garage door or a Clifford system on your second vehi-
cle. Ask your dealer about these options.
What to Do If You Inadvertently Cause the Alarm to Sound
If you unintentionally alarm the system, just press button I on your remote control
or enable valet mode (see page 2) to disarm the system.

Enhanced AutoArming™
If you forget to remotely arm SE 2020X, it will arm itself automatically 30 sec-
onds after the vehicle doors are closed. If you re-open any door(s) within the 30-sec-
ond countdown, AutoArming will restart from the beginning once all doors are
closed. This ensures you’ll never accidentally leave your vehicle unprotected. SE
2020X includes all these Enhanced AutoArming features:
AutoArming Enable/Disable: If you prefer, you may, at any time, deactivate or
reactivate AutoArming. To do, see How to Set User-Selectable Features on
pages 6-7.
Visual Acknowledgment: Five seconds after you exit the vehicle and close all
the doors, the parking lights will flash twice to confirm that the AutoArming
countdown is progressing. Then, 25 seconds later, the system will AutoArm.
AutoArm & Lock: To ensure you can’t accidentally lock your keys inside the
car, your SE 2020X is factory-set not to lock the doors upon AutoArming. To
change this setting, see How to Set User-Selectable Features on pages 6-7.
NOTE: To prevent AutoArming of the system when fueling the vehicle, either
enable valet mode or leave one of the doors open (the system AutoArms 30
seconds after all doors are closed).
Valet Mode
Whenever your car is to be serviced, washed or valet parked, you must use the
valet mode in order to prevent unintentional activation of the alarm.
How to Enable Valet Mode
1. Insert your key and turn the ignition to the ON position.
2. Flip the valet/program switch. The LED inside your vehicle will turn on,
confirming the system is in valet mode.
3. You may now turn the ignition off and remove your key.
NOTE: If you temporarily lose the use of your remote control, you can disarm
the system by enabling valet mode.
NOTE:Eveninvaletmode,youmaystillusetheremotecontroltolockorunlock
the doors and/or activate a remote controlled accessory.
How to Exit Valet Mode
1. Insert your key and turn the ignition to the ON position.
2. Flip the valet/program switch. The LED inside your vehicle will turn off,
confirming the system is in normal operating mode.

Triple-Mode Chirp Silencing
If and when you desire, you may silence the chirp confirmations, allowing for only
silent, parking light arm/disarm confirmation (of course, if an intrusion attempt oc-
curs, the siren will sound its 125dB wail). You have three chirp muting choices:
Long-Term Chirp Silencing: You may disable the chirps until you wish to restore
them. To do so, see How to Set User-Selectable Features on pages 6-7.
One-Cycle Chirp Muting: You may disable the chirps for only one arm-and-dis-
arm cycle, after which the chirps are automatically restored. To do so, simply
turn the vehicle’s ignition switch “ON” and “OFF” rapidly. When you next
arm, and later disarm, the chirps will be silenced.
On-the-Go Remote Chirp Muting: You may silently arm or disarm the alarm
with the remote control on-the-go and without any prior preparation by simul-
taneously pressing buttons I and II of the remote control.
What Do the Chirps and Flashes Mean?
When you remotely arm or disarm the system, the siren will chirp (unless you
have the chirps silenced) and the parking lights will flash:

Smart AutoTesting™
In the rare event of a trigger or sensor malfunction, your SE 2020X will alert you
of the problem. Arm the alarm with the remote control. If the system detects a
faulty trigger, the system will issue four chirps and four parking light flashes in-
stead of the usual 2 chirps/2 flashes. If a sensor malfunction is detected, the sys-
tem will issue the usual 2 chirps and 2 flashes, then, 5 seconds later, it will emit 4
chirps and 4 flashes.
NOTE: Since this is a warning indication, you will hear the 4-chirp signal even if
you are using the chirp silencing feature.
Malfunction AutoBypass™
Once the Smart AutoTesting feature identifies and records a trigger or sensor mal-
function, your SE 2020X will instantly override the defect and arm all other points.
Your vehicle will never be without some measure of protection. You should, as
soon as possible, take your vehicle to your Authorized SE Dealer for servicing.

TotalRecall™ of Last Activated Trigger or Sensor
The SE 2020X’s non-volatile memory automatically stores the last trigger or sen-
sor activated, thereby providing an invaluable diagnostics means. To recall the
identity of the last activated trigger or sensor, use the following procedure:
1. Disarm your SE 2020X with button I on the remote control.
2. With the ignition OFF, flick the valet/programming switch.
3. Press button I until you hear 2 chirps, release, then press button I again
until you hear 1 chirp. The LED status indicator will blink 1 - 3 times,
pause, then repeat the blink cycle four more times. Count the number of
blinks per cycle and refer to the table below:

Your SE 2020X will hold this information in its non-volatile memory indefinitely
or until there is a subsequent activation.
AutoLock™ and AutoUnLock™
For additional safety, AutoLock automatically locks all of your vehicle’s doors
when you start the engine. Conversely, AutoUnLock unlocks the doors for you
and your passengers when you turn the ignition off. To deactivate (or reactivate)
this feature, see How to Set User-Selectable Features on pages 6-7.
FACT™ — False Alarm Control and Test
With FACT, you’ll never experience repeated false alarms. If your siren goes off,
DO NOT disarm the system; allow it to run for the full 30-second or 60-second
(user-selectable) siren duration. Your SE 2020X automatically checks for another
activated trigger before sounding the siren a second time. Should the siren sound
again, you will know for sure that someone is tampering with your vehicle.
Tampering Warning™
Normally, SE 2020X immediately sounds its siren at the first inkling of an intru-
sion attempt. However, you may set the system to issue a rapid five-chirp warning
whenever SE 2020X detects tampering to the exterior of your vehicle. If there is
any further tampering within the next 30 seconds, or if a door, the hood or trunk is
opened at any time, SE 2020X will sound a continuous 125dB siren blast. To se-
lect the mode of your choice, see How to Set User-Selectable Features on pages 6-7.

Smart Prior Intrusion Attempt Alert
If the alarm was activated while you were away, when you disarm with the remote
control your SE 2020X will issue three chirps and three parking light flashes in-
stead of the usual one chirp/one flash.
NOTE: Since this is a warning indication, you will hear the 3-chirp signal even if
you are using the chirp muting feature.
When you enter your vehicle, the LED status indicator will be blinking 1-3 times,
pause, then repeat the blink cycle four more times to indicate the trigger/sensor
that detected the intrusion attempt. Count the number of blinks per cycle and refer
to the table below:

LED Status Indicator
The LED status indicator on your vehicle’s dashboard or console is used to com-
municate the operational condition of your system:

Flashing System is armed and protecting your vehicle
Blinking in cycles
of 1-3 blinks Smart Prior Intrusion Attempt Alert identification of a tripped trigger or sensor (see above), or TotalRecall of a trigger or sensor malfunction (see page 4).

How to Set User-Selectable Features
To change the setting of any one or more of the User-Selectable Features, simply
select the feature you wish to change from the following chart, perform the steps
below, flick the valet switch the number of times indicated, then turn off the ignition.
To change the setting of a user-selectable feature:
1. Select the feature you wish to set from the chart on the next page.
2. Turn the ignition key to the ON position.
3. Within 10 seconds, flick the valet/programming switch back and forth,
counting each confirmation chirp. Stop when you reach the number of
chirps indicated for the feature you wish to set.
4. If noted, perform the “Supplemental action.”
5. Wait for the “Completion confirmation,” then turn the ignition off.
6. Repeat steps 1-5 for any other features you wish to set.
Adding New Remote Control(s)
Your SE 2020X can function with as many as four different Clifford remote con-
trols, regardless of their types, specific codes or number of channels. Adding one
or more additional remote controls is simple, just use the procedure noted in the
How to Set User-Selectable Features on this and the following page.
NOTE: You can obtain additional remote controls from any Authorized Clifford
Dealer, or call our Customer Service Department toll-free at [phone].
How to Delete the Code of a Lost or Stolen Remote Control
To delete the code of a lost or stolen remote control from the system memory, sim-
ply program buttons I, II and the I+II combination of your current remote control
into the system 4 times (see Adding New Remote Control(s) above). If you have
two remotes, program each twice. If using three or more remote controls, program
all of them so that the total adds up to 4.
Example
To change the AutoArming feature from its factory setting of on to off:
•Turn the ignition key to the ON position.
•Immediately flick the valet/program switch back and forth while counting the
number of confirmation chirps.
•When the 4th chirp sounds, wait 3 seconds. The system will sound one more
chirp to confirm that the siren duration setting has been changed.
•Turn the ignition off.
