Installation
Without extensions,thisgate is suitable for openings between72.5cm (281/2in) and
81cm (32in) wide. Ifgapis wider, see extension guide in section G.Fit extension(s)first,
then follow instructionsbelow.
1. Insert the spindles (1) with nuts (2) into the holes inthe four corners ofthe gate.
2. Mark the positions forthe wallcups (4)on both wall surfaces.
The holes forthe lowerwallfixingsshould be27mm
above the floor.
The holes forthe upperwallcupsshould be747mm
above the floor.

3.Fixthe wallcups (4) usingappropriatefixings depending onthe surface. Wood screws
for wood surfaces, appropriatewall-plugs and screws for brick /concrete / plaster walls and
metal screws for metal surfaces. These screws and fixings arenot supplied.
Use Size 6 (3.5mm
diameter)flatheaded
countersunk screws
of minimum length
25mm.
4. Place the gate into position, and locate the spindles into the wallcups.Keeping thegap
between the wall andthe gateequal on eachside,adjust the spindles and tighten the nuts
on each corner ofthe gateusing the spanner(3).

5.Thegap between the gate andthe wall (x) should beno less than 12mm andno more
than 60mm. Thetwo verticalsupportsshould beat90°tothe horizontal bottom bar.
6.Ifthe gate istoo high forthe latch, the spindlenext tothe latchshould be screwed
further into the frame,while the spindle onthe oppositesideshould be unscrewedfrom
the frame.
If the gate istoolowforthe latch, the spindlenext tothe latchshould be unscrewedfrom
the frame andthe spindle onthe opposite side should be screwedfurtherinto the frame.
Finally tighten allofthe nuts with the spanner.

7.To block the opening
direction ofthe gate,open
oneofthe smallcatches,
located onthe underside
of the latchmechanism,
on the side which you
want to block.
When fitting the gate at
thetopofa stairway,
always block the opening
towards the stairs, so that
the gateopensawayfrom
the stairs.
Using the Gate
Before using the gateensurethat itis fittedcorrectlyaand is secure.
To open the gate, slide the latch (1)
towards the wall and lift the gate(2).
The gateshouldopen both ways unless
one opening wayis blocked as shownabove.
When correctly fitted, the gate will swingshutfrom the openposition. The gate canbe
closed manually by holding the handle and closing the gatedoor until it locks into position.
Always check that the gate is closed and lockedbeforeleavingunattended.

Fitting a 7cm Extension
1. Remove both topand bottom spindles (1) and their casings (6) from the latch side
ofthe gate.
2. Turn both spindle casings (6) upsidedown so that the lugs point downwards
and re-insert them into the frame, both topand bottom. Theyshould now extend
slightlyfrom the frame.
3. Insert the7cm extension (5) into
the spindle casings.
4. Finally insert the spindles (1) with
nuts (2) attached, into the extension.
5.Ifa second 7cm extension is requiredrepeat onthe otherside ofthe gate.

Fitting an 18cm Extension - available separately
1. Remove both topand bottom spindles (1) and their casings (6) from the
latch side ofthe gate.
2. Place the 18cm extension directly into the framemaking sure that the notches
onthe bars are facingupwards.Theninsert the spindles (1) with nuts (2) attached
into the extension, topand bottom.
3.Ifa second 18cm extension is requiredrepeat onthe other side ofthe gate.

Fitting a combined 7cm& 18cm Extension
1. Fitthe 18cm extension first by followinginstruction 1 and2 ofthe 18cm Extension
fitting guide(G), butdonot refit the spindles.
2. Insert the spindle casings into the7cm extension. Ensure that the notch
onthetop casing is facingdownwards andthe notch onthe bottom casing is facing
upwards.

3. Insert the7cm extension into the 18cm extension. Finally insert the spindles (1)
with nuts (2) attached into the extension, topand bottom.
Maintenance
Check the gateperiodically to ensure that the wall surface,
wallcups, spindles and locking devices areall functioning
correctly. Additional and replacement parts canbe
obtained by contacting the ClippasafeCustomer Services
Department via the Careline or e-mail address below.
Clean the gateusingwarmwater anda mild detergent.
No part ofthe gate requires lubrication.
Never use solvents,chemicals,scouringpowders or sharp
tools to clean the gate.
