1.Technical description
The FlashMax P3 light is a medical
device, class I, in compliance with MDD
(Medical Devices Directive) section IX.
The light must only be used in dental
clinics by dental personnel, and only
for designated purposes.The product
is classified as an electronic medical
device electric class II according to DS/
EN 60601-1:1998.The product is classified
as a class 2 LED product according to
EN 60825-1:2001 Ed1.2.
CMS Dental declares that the product
described in this manual complies with
the above mentioned standards.
The FlashMax P3 light consists of a
hand piece, a docking station and an
external power supply. Disposable
covers and tips protect against cross
contamination.
WARNINGS
1. Do not expose directly into the eyes,
or look directly at the emitted light.
2. Eyewear protection should be used.
3. Medical electronic equipment is
sensitive to electromagnetic fields.
Portable and mobile high frequency
communication devices may interfere
with medical devices. In order to
maintain proper operation, follow
instructions in this manual.
4. Use of the light without a tip may
cause overheating of the tissue if the
light is used close to the gingiva.
5. Extended use cause tip and cover
to be hot and may cause slight
burning sensation of mucosa, if
touched.
6. Do not reuse covers or tips as this
may cause cross contamination.
7. If the light beeps every 2 s when
placed in docking station, it is a warning
that the charging voltage is 6 V or
higher, i.e. a wrong power supply is
being used.

2. Preparing to use the FlashMax P3
460 4W light
Connect the power supply under the
base of the docking station to a main
electrical outlet. Place the light in the
dock and the battery will begin charging.
This is indicated by a green light flashing.
3. Use and program modes
The FlashMax P3 is only intended for the
polymerization of dental materials:
1 s time cycle is used for a layered build-up
and/or bonding agents.The 3 s time cycle
is used for the finishing layer and/or
darker shades.
Three program modes
The FlashMax P3 light is used intermit-
tently in one of three programs each with
time settings of 1 or 3 seconds.
To see the program selected, press the
two buttons at the same time and hold
for 3 s until a beep is heard. The diode
will flash the color of the program, green,
orange or red.
To change the program, scroll using any
button. Stop at the chosen program and
wait for the beep.The light will stay in the
chosen mode until changed manually.
3.1 Intelligent Automated Functions
The FlashMax P3 is the first light with
this new concept.
The green program mode is the manual
mode. Press the large button and the
unit will light for 3 s. Press the small but-
ton and it will light for 1 s.
In the orange program mode, pressing
the large button will give you 3 s of light,
a 0.5 s pause, then again 3 s of light.The
small button 1 s of light, a 0.5 s pause,
then 1 s of light.
This mode is used for layered build-ups
when the composite restoration is wide
enough to require two side by side
activations.
In the red program mode the large button
will give you 3s + 3s + 3s + 3s continously,
with 0,5 s pause between each activation,
until you press the button again to stop it.
The small button gives 1s + 1s + 1s + 1s
continuously, with 0,5 s pause between
each activation, until you press the button
again to stop it. This mode is used for
cementing brackets or veneers or in any
other situation where repetitive activations
are required.
3.2 Temperature safety
The FlashMax P3 light has a safety cut
off to preserve the lifetime of the diode
should overheating occur.
When the light gets close to the cut
off temperature, you will be warned by
intermittent beeping. User time before
the warning varies between 45 and 80
seconds.The light can be used for ap-
proximately another 15 s before it cuts
off. Overheating is indicated by 3 short
beeps followed by fast red flashing.
3.3 Battery power saving
Sleep
If the light has not been activated for 5
minutes, or placed in the dock, it will go
into sleep mode to conserve energy.
Press any button to reactivate it.
Deep sleep
If not used or placed in the docking station
for 6 hours the light will go into deep
sleep mode. It must be placed in the
dock for one second to be reactivated.

4. Cover and tips
The light should only be used with a tip
and cover attached.
There are two standard tips for the
FlashMax P3 - a d 4 mm and a d 8 mm
tip.
Attaching and detaching tips
Tips are snapped onto the cover by
pressing the two items together. The
tips can be moved +/-15 degrees in the
longitudinal direction of the cover. To
detach the tip, rotate the tip away from
the cover and it will pop out.
5. Cleaning
The hand piece and docking station
may be wiped with a slightly damp cloth.
CAUTION! Use only 70% alcohol when
cleaning the light and docking station.
Make sure NOT to leave fluid in the
charger socket, remove excess fluid
with a dry clean cloth or tissue. Fluid in
the docking socket may cause electro-
lytic corrosion of the charger.
Make sure NOT to disperse disinfection
fluids into the diode.This may damage
the diode.
The removable cover is disposable.The
tips are disposable.

7. Service and warranty
The FlashMax P3 light is covered by a 2 year warranty.
CAUTION
The FlashMax P3 light must only be serviced and repaired by CMS Dental, otherwise
the warranty will be void.
8. Disposal of waste products
The tips and covers should be disposed as regular waste.The hand piece, docking
station and power supply shall be disposed to a recycling central.

1.Teknisk beskrivelse
FlashMax P3 lampen er et medicinsk
klasse 1 udstyr, i overensstemmelse med
MDD (Medical Devices Directive) section
IX. Udstyret må kun anvendes på
tandlægeklinikker af relevant personale
og til tilsigtet anvendelse. Produktet er
klassificeret som et elektronisk
medicinsk udstyr i elektrisk klasse II i
henhold til DS/EN 60601-1:1998.
Produktet er klassificeret som et
klasse 2 LED produkt i henhold til EN
60825-1:2001 udgave 1.2.
CMS Dental erklærer, at produktet
som er beskrevet i denne manual er i
overensstemmelse med ovennævnte
standarder.
FlashMax P3 lampen består af et
håndstykke, en docking station samt
en ekstern strømforsyning.
Engangsbeskyttelseshætter og spidser
der beskytter mod krydskontaminering.
ADVARSLER
1. Lys aldrig direkte i øjet eller kig ind i
lyset.
2. Beskyttelsesbriller bør anvendes.
3. Medicinsk elektronisk udstyr er
følsomt for elektromagnetiske felter.
Mobiltelefoner og andet højfrekvent
udstyr kan eventuelt influere på
funktionen af medicinsk udstyr.
4. Følg instruktioner i denne manual for
at sikre korrekt anvendelse. Brug af
lampen uden spids kan forårsage
varmeudvikling i vævet, hvis lampen
bliver brugt tæt på gingiva.
5. Omfattende brug får spids og
beskyttelseshætte til at blive varme, og
det kan forårsage svag brændende
følelse på slimhinden, hvis i kontakt.
6. Genanvend ikke beskyttelseshætte
eller spids, hvilket kan medføre
krydskontaminering.
7. Hvis lampen bipper hver 2. sekund,
når den er sat i docking station, er det
fordi strømforsyningen er højere end
6V, dvs. der er anvendt en forkert type.

Forbind strømforsyningen med stikket i
bunden af docking station og sæt stikket i en
kontakt. Anbring lampen i docken og batteriet
vil starte med at oplade. Dette vises ved at
indikatordioden blinker grønt.
3. Anvendelse og programindstillinger
FlashMax P3 lampen bør kun anvendes til
hærdning af dental materialer:
1 sekund tidsindstillingen anvendes til en
lagvis opbygning og /eller bondingmaterialer.
3 sekunder tidsindstillingen anvendes til
afsluttende lag og/eller mørkere kompositter.
Tre program muligheder
FlashMax P3 lampen anvendes intermitter-
ende i en af de tre programmer, hver med
en tidsindstilling på 1 eller 3 sekunder.
For at se programstatus, tryk på de to
knapper på samme side på én gang og
hold dem nede i 3 sekunder indtil der høres
et bip. Indikatordioden vil blinke farven på
programmet hhv. grønt, orange eller rødt.
For at skifte program, scrol nu op eller
ned. Stop ved det valgte program og vent
3 sekunder indtil et bip høres. Lampen vil
blive i det valgte program indtil en anden
indstilling vælges.
3.1 Intelligente Automatiske Funktioner
FlashMax P3 lampen er den første lampe
med dette nye koncept.
Denne grønne programindstilling er manuel
funktion, den store knap giver 3 sekunder
og den lille knap giver 1 sekund ved tryk.
I den orange programindstilling vil et tryk
på den store knap give 3 sekunder lys, 0,5
sekunder pause, så igen 3 sekunder lys.
Den lille knap tilsvarende 1 sekund lys, 0,5
sekund pause, 1 sekund lys.
Denne programindstilling anvendes for
lagvis opbygning når kompositlaget er så
bredt at 2 aktiveringer ved siden af hinanden
ønskes.
I den røde programindstilling vil et tryk på
den store knap give 3 sek + 3 sek + 3 sek
+ 3 sek kontinuerligt, med 0,5 sek pause
mellem hver aktivering, indtil du igen
trykker på knappen for at stoppe. Den lille
knap giver 1 sek + 1 sek + 1 sek + 1 sek
kontinuerligt, med 0,5 sek pause mellem
hver aktivering, indtil du igen trykker på
knappen for at stoppe.
Denne indstilling anvendes for eksempel til
cementering af brackets, til multiple facader
eller andre situationer hvor repetitive
lysaktiveringer er ønsket.
3.2 Temperatur sikkerhed
FlashMax P3 lampen har en sikkerheds-
afbryder der sikrer mod varmeskade af
dioden.
Når diodens omgivelser er tæt på maksimal
tilladte temperatur, vil du blive advaret med
et intermitterende bip. Brugstid før advarsel
varierer mellem 45 og 80 sekunder. Lampen
kan anvendes ca. 15 sekunder yderligere
før den stopper. Når temperaturgrænsen
er nået, indikeres dette med 3 hurtige bip
efterfulgt af rødt diode blink.
3.3 Batteribesparelse
”Sleep”
Hvis lampen ikke har været aktiveret i 5
minutter, eller placeret i docking station, vil
den gå i ”sleep”. Tryk på en tilfældig knap
for at aktivere den.
”Deep sleep”
Hvis lampen ikke er blevet anvendt eller
placeret i docking station i 6 timer, vil lampen
gå i ”deep sleep”. For at reaktivere den skal
den placereres i docking station i 1 sekund.

Lampen bør kun anvendes med
beskyttelseshætte samt påmonteret
spids.
Der findes to standardspidser til FlashMax
P3 lampen – en stump d 4 mm og en
stump d 8 mm spids.
Montering samt demontering af
spidser
Spidsen monteres ved at presse denne
mod åbningen af beskyttelseshætten.
Spidsen kan bevæges +/- 15 grader
i længderetningen. For at demontere
spidsen, skub den i retningen væk fra
beskyttelseshætten i længderetningen
og spidsen vil springe ud af fatningen.
5. Rengøring
Lampen samt docking station kan aftørres
med en svagt fugtet klud. BEMÆRK! Brug
kun 70 % alcohol når lampe og docking
station rengøres.Vær sikker på ikke at
efterlade væske I bunden af docking
stationen, fjern eventual væske med en
tør klud eller en serviet.Væske i docking
stationen kan forårsage elektrolytisk
korrosion af docking station.
Vær opmærksom på at der ikke kommer
væske ind ved diode åbningen. Dette vil
ødelægge diode.
Den aftagelige beskyttelseshætte er
engangsanvendelse.
Alle spidserne er engangsanvendelse.

bortfalder garantien.
8. Bortskaffelse af affald
Spidserne og beskyttelseshætterne bortskaffes sammen med almindelig affald.
Selve lampen, docking station og strømforsyning skal indleveres til en genanven-
delsescentral.

1.Technische Beschreibung
FlashMax P3 ist ein Medizinprodukt der
Klasse I, gemäß den Vorschriften des MDD
(Medical Devices Directive) Abschnitt IX.
Es ist ausschließlich zum Gebrauch in
zahnärztlichen Praxen oder Kliniken
durch geschultes Fachpersonal bestimmt
und darf nur für die im Folgenden
beschriebenen Zwecke verwendet werden.
Das Produkt ist gemäß DS/EN 60601-
1:1998 als elektronisches medizinisches
Gerät der Klasse II klassifiziert. Das
Produkt ist gemäß EN 60825-1:2001
Ed1.2 als Klasse 2 LED klassifiziert.
CMS Dental bestätigt hiermit, dass das
Produkt den oben genannten Standards
entspricht.
FlashMax P3 besteht aus einem
Handstück, einem Ladegerät/Halter und
einer externen Stromversorgung sowie
Einmal-Schutzhüllen und -Ansätzen zum
Schutz vor Kreuzkontamination.
WARNHINWEISE
1. Licht nicht direkt in die Augen richten.
2. Das Tragen einer Schutzbrille wird
empfohlen.
3. Elektrische Geräte sind sensibel
gegenüber elektromagnetischen
Wellen. Tragbare mobile
Hochfrequenz-Kommunikationsgeräte
können die Funktion beeinträchtigen.
Um den ordnungsgemäßen Betrieb zu
sichern, folgen Sie den Anweisungen
in diesem Handbuch.
4. Die Verwendung des Handstückes
ohne Aufsätze kann zur Überhitzung
des Gewebes führen, wenn das Licht
unmittelbar auf das Zahnfleisch
gerichtet ist.
5. Längerer Einsatz läst den Ansatz und
die Schutzhülle heiß werden und
kann bei Berührung Verbrennungen
der Mukosa verursachen.
6. Schutzhüllen und Ansätze nicht
wiederverwenden, um Kreuzkon-
tamination zu vermeiden.
7. Zur Warnung vor zu hoher Spannung
(> 6V) beim Aufladen ertönt alle 2
Sekunden ein Signal während das
Gerät in der Ladestation steckt. Dies
kann durch den Einsatz eines
falschen Ladekabels hervorgerufen
werden.
