Getting Started
The CMS MultiBay unit is available with select
CompaqArmada, and Evo notebooks that are
listed here.Armada M700, E500: Evo N800c,
N800v, N600c
Notebook MultiBay
TheDellMultiBayfornotebooksisshippedwith
a MultiBay with hard drive installed. Some
newer machines are hot swappable. If yours
is not you must turn your notebook off before
installingMultiBay.
Install the MultiBay for
Extra Storage Only
You can use any MultiBay drive for additional
storage. Once the device is installed the
operatingsystemrecognizesthe MultiBay drive
as a hard drive attached to your system. If
your system is hot swappable, then with the
notebook powered on, or off remove the CD-
ROM. If your notebook is not hot swappable
turn your notebook off before removing CD-
ROM. Insert the MultiBay drive into the CD-
ROMslot,makingsureitissecurelyin position.
If system is turned off, turn on now. The
Windows®98/ME/2000/XPoperating systems
willrecognize the newhardware and configure
the system accordingly. No drivers are
required. Your Multi Bay is now ready to use.
Removing the MultiBay
There are two options for safely removing the
Multibay:
Left click on the PC-card icon in the Windows
task bar, and select stop standard IDE/ESDI
Disk Controller. Wait for the “You may safely
removethisdevice”messagetoappear,before
removingtheABS.
Orifyourmachineisnot hot swappable, simply
power off your notebook and then remove the
MultiBay.

Warranty Service
Warranty service may be obtained by
contacting CMS within the applicable warranty
period for a Return material Authorization
(RMA) number. Once an RMA number is
issued, the defective product must be shipped
back to CMS prepaid, insured and wrapped in
the original or similar shipping package to
ensure that it will not be damaged during
shipment. When returning defective product
to CMS for service, the RMA number must be
marked on the outside of the shipping package.
Any product received at CMS not packaged
properly may be refused as out of warranty.
Physically damaged products will not be
processed for warranty.
Any product returned without an RMA number
shall be rejected and sent back to the
Customer. CMS disclaims any obligation to pay
for the shipping of any such returned product,
it being understood that the Customer shall
bear the cost of returning such products.
CMS warranty periods are subject to change
without prior notice. Warranty coverage may
be obtained through CMS Customer Service,
