Quick Start Guide
Makesureyoureadthroughtheseinstructionsthoroughlybeforeusing
yourmeter.Thisguidewillhelpyoufamiliarizewithyourmeterinorder
tobeasproductiveasyouneedtobeintheleastamountoftime
possible.
Standard Operation
Theoxygenmeterisfactorycalibratedforeasyinstallation.Duringits
lifecyclecalibrationmaybecomeperiodicallynecessary.We
recommendperformingaspanO2calibrationeverymonthfor
guaranteedoperationandensuredaccuracy.Noothercalibrationis
necessaryduringthelifecycleofthesensor.
Powering the Unit
Theunitcanbepoweredbyhardwiring24VDCpowerthroughthe
MDCM‐4FP‐2MCable(included).Samplingunitscanalsobepoweredby
theincluded24VDCInternationalwallpowersupply.

Theory of Operation
Thezirconiaoxygensensorutilizessolid‐stateelectrochemicalreactions
toproduceavoltageproportionaltothecurrentoxygen.Thisvoltageis
thendigitalizedandfilteredtoausablevalue.Theoxygensensorhas
alsobeenfactorycalibratedtomeetspecifications.
Calibration
Thecalibrationprocessvariesdependingonthetypeofunitand
whetherithasoptionaldataloggingfunctionalityornot.Allunitsare
factory‐calibratedwithmultiplereferencepointsofgas,andhavebeen
verifiedtobeaccuratewithintheirspecificfunctionalitybefore
shipment.However,iftheunitisseverelyjoltedorotherwise
mechanicallydisturbed,thesensorcandrift,requiringrecalibration.All
calibrationproceduresfollowasingle‐pointcalibrationroutinethat
effectivelyshiftsthezero‐pointoftheO2sensor.

TheunitcanbeattachedtoaPCusinganoptionalUSBtoRS‐485cable,
availableonourwebsite,orviaamini‐USBcabletotheinternalUSB
connection.InthedesktopsoftwareapplicationO2canbecalibrated
individually.TheO2sensorcanbecalibratedto0%andthento20.9%.
Duringnormaloperation0%calibrationoftheoxygentransmitter
shouldnotbenecessary.
CalibrationcanalsobeperformedoverMODBUS.Seeadditional
documentationforMODBUSregisters.
Calibrationcanbeperformedusingeither0%CO2calibrationgas
(typicallynitrogen,Argon,etc.),orusingafreshsourceofoutdoorair,
assumedtobeapproximately20.9%O2.
Startbyattachingthecalibrationgastothemeterandconnectingthe
metertoapersonalcomputer.Openthecalibrationscreeninthe
GasLab®software.Clickthe“Calibrate”buttoninthecalibrationtabfor
thedesiredgas,locatedinthe“ConfigureSensor”screen.Aslongasthe
gasconcentrationisstable,theunitshouldinstantlyreflectthe
calibratedvalue.Thiscanbeconfirmedbywatchingthedisplay.Tosee
thecalibrationvalueinrealtime,clickinthe“CollectRealtime”button
