4. Alarms and Remedies
4.1 Pre-Alarms
In contrast to alarms, a pre-alarm does not cause an interruption of the infusion.
The message appears in the LC display by means of an icon and text and is supplemented by an
audible signal (weaker, repeated whistle of 1 to 4 kHz compliant with IEC60601- 1-8) and an
intermittently flashing amber-green status light (See Section 6.5. LEDs in User Manual:
14.547_G_UM_en_A71XV_5.09).
Repetition of the audible signal can be configured.
After the pre-alarm is acknowledged the status light changes to amber and remains on until the
cause of the pre-alarm is resolved or the pre-alarm is replaced by an alarm (For further
information see Section 15.1. Pre-alarms in User Manual: 14.547_G_UM_en_A71XV_5.09).
♦Procedure in the Event of a Pre-Alarm:
Press Menu key to mute the audible signal.
The display switches to the main view.
The indicator lamp changes to continuous amber.
The pre-alarm continues to be displayed as a message in the top section of the LCD.
♦Infusion About to End
If a total volume (VTBI) or infusion time has been set -
the pre-alarm indicates that the amount entered
will soon be reached.
♦Low Battery
The battery has less than 30 minutes use left.

4.2 Alarms
Each alarm situation automatically stops the ongoing infusion.
An audible signal (loud, repeated whistling sound from 1 to 4 kHz according to IEC60601-1-8) and
the flashing red alarm window indicate an error and must be identifiable from a distance.
Repetition of the audible signal can be configured. The LC display describes the type of error by
means of an icon and text. In any event, the error must be eliminated before restarting the
infusion
(For further information see Section 15.2. Alarms in User Manual: 14.547_G_UM_en_A71XV_5.09.)
♦Procedure in the Event of an Alarm:
Press Menu key to mute the audible alarm
Resolve the cause of the alarm
Restart infusion
If the cause is not resolved within 120 seconds, the audible alarm is repeated
♦Occlusion Downstream (Patient Side)
The flow pressure has exceeded the occlusion pressure limit
♦Occlusion Upstream (Medication Side)
There is an occlusion on the medication side of the pump
♦Drop Alarm
If the pump is being operated with a drop detector only
Too many drops No drops
