USER’S GUIDE FOR BASIC INSTALLATION OF MRX18
1.Important
The electrical installation must be performed in accordance with the safety regulations
of the local authorities. The repeater must not be opened. The antennas of the repeater
have to be installed in a way that meets regional and national RF exposure compliance
requirements.
Attention: Observe that SMA connectors have a specified torque of max. 45 Nm. Do not over-
tighten the connectors or screws. The miniRepeater is only intended for indoor
usage.

By default, the MRx18 is delivered with Pout = +18 dBm (exception: for MR418
Pout = +19 dBm) and Autogain enabled.
Depending on application/network, the maximum output power stated in the datasheet must not
be exceeded in order to meet the respective standards. The value for maximum output power
can be changed via webpage.
Note: Local access to the settings for the repeater is optimized for Mozilla Firefox.
Note: As the new PCBs of the MRx18 single band are
only supported by SW V3.3.0, a downgrade to
a prior
SW version
must NOT be done (as indicated by the
corresponding label on
the unit) After a downgrade, the
unit will
no longer function properly and installing a SW
version ≥V3.3.0 will be required.
2.Quick-Start Checklist
Mount the repeater to a wall.
Install antennas (donor and coverage antenna).
Provide the repeater with power. Use only the power supply (PSU) delivered with the unit.
Do not modify the PSU and cable. Do not mount the PSU to the ceiling.
Connect the DC connector of the power supply and provide mains to the power supply. For
correct insertion, the DC connection provides a keyed DC connector (at the PSU cable) and
a notched DC connector (at the repeater). For secure operation, the PSU DC connector
provides a locking sleeve that has to be pulled for opening the connection.
Use a laptop or PC to connect to the repeater via Ethernet (Ethernet connector next to
coverage antenna SMA connector; use a straight CAT6 patch cable) and adjust amplified
frequencies in tab Settings – Radio Frequency. For login enter URL: http://192.168.1.1,
Username: MRx18, Password: MRx18 (case-sensitive).
After (!) the boot process (boot process: Red ALC LED is blinking for four seconds), press
the "Reset and installation assistance" button (see next page) for at least ten seconds. This
will set the gain to max. value and disable Autogain for about four minutes. The status LED
will be blinking red/green. Align the donor antenna towards the BTS/Node B tower to reach
the RSSI level that enables optimized performance. Check the RSSI level at the display.
After four minutes, the gain and Autogain are adjusted to the values prior to the activation
of the antenna alignment.

Align the coverage antenna.
Check the LEDs of the repeater.
The Status LED should show green.
The ALC LED should be off.
Vary donor antenna alignment to adjust the RSSI in order not to reach ALC
(i.e. ALC LED off).
Low input power (Pin < max. Pout - Gain) might cause reduced output power.
Too high input power (Pin > max. Pout - Gain) might lead to an ALC alarm.
Vary donor antenna alignment for optimal operation. If the input power is still too high, use
external attenuators in the donor link.
If "< -80" and no bars are shown in the display, the input level from the BTS/Node B is too low.
Check the cable to the donor antenna, the donor antenna itself, and its alignment towards the
BTS/Node B.
The display will be switched off automatically after 10 minutes. To switch it on again, press the
Reset-and-installation-assistance button.

SCHNELLINSTALLATION MRX18
1.Wichtig
Die elektrische Installation muss gemäß den örtlichen, regionalen und nationalen
Sicherheitsbestimmungen ausgeführt werden. Der Repeater darf nicht geöffnet werden.
Die an den Repeater angeschlossenen Antennen müssen derart installiert werden, dass
sie den regionalen und nationalen Vorschriften für Hochfrequenzstrahlung genüge
leisten.
Achtung: Beachten Sie, dass die SMA-Anschlüsse für ein maximales Drehmoment von
0,45 Nm spezifiziert sind. Überdrehen Sie die Stecker und Schrauben nicht. Der
miniRepeater ist nur für den Einsatz im Innenbereich konzipiert.

Im Auslieferzustand des MRx18 ist Pout (Ausgangsleistung) +18 dBm (Ausnahme: MR418: Pout

Abhängig vom Einsatz oder Netzwerk darf die maximale Ausgangsleistung wie im Datenblatt
aufgeführt nicht überschritten werden um entsprechende Normen einzuhalten. Der Wert der
maximalen Ausgangsleistung kann mittels Benutzeroberfläche geändert werden.
Hinweis: Die lokale Schnittstelle zu den Einstellungen des Repeaters ist für Mozilla Firefox
optimiert.
Hinweis: Da die neuen Platinen des MRx18

ingleband nur ab der SW V3.3.0 unterstützt
werden
, darf ein Downgrade auf eine frühere SW-
V
ersion NICHT durchgeführt werden (

2.Schnellstart Checkliste
Montieren Sie den Repeater an die Wand.
Installieren Sie die Antennen: Empfangs- (BTS) und Sendeantenne (Mobile).
Schließen Sie den Repeater an das Netzteil an. Benutzen Sie hierfür ausschließlich das
mitgelieferte Netzteil (PSU). Modifizieren Sie weder das Netzteil noch die Kabel. Montieren
Sie das Netzteil keinesfalls an eine Zimmerdecke.
Schließen Sie den Gleichstromstecker des Netzteil-Kabels am Repeater an und das Netzteil
an die Stromversorgung. Der Gleichstromstecker hat eine Nase, die Gleichstrombuchse
des Repeaters eine Kerbe, um ein falsches Anschließen zu verhindern. Um einen sicheren
Betrieb zu gewährleiten hat der Gleichstromstecker einen Verschlussmechanismus; zum
Abziehen muss die Verschlusshülle zurückgezogen werden.
Schließen Sie einen Computer mittels Ethernet an (Ethernet Buchse neben der
Sendeantennenbuchse). Benützen Sie hierfür ein CAT6 Kabel. Zum Einloggen starten Sie
einen Browser und geben URL: http://192.168.1.1, Username: MRx18, Passwort: MRx18
(Groß- Kleinschreibung beachten). Stellen Sie den zu verstärkenden Frequenzbereich im
Menü Settings – Radio Frequency ein.
Drücken Sie direkt nach(!) dem Bootvorgang (Bootvorgang: die rote ALC LED blinkt für vier
Sekunden) den Reset- und Installationshilfe Knopf für mindestens zehn Sekunden. Dies
setzt die Verstärkung auf Maximalwert und schaltet die Autogain für circa 4 Minuten aus.
Die Status LED blinkt rot/grün. Richten Sie jetzt die Empfangsantenne zur BTS/zum Node
B aus um den RSSI-Wert zu erreichen, der optimale Funktionalität gewährleistet.
Überprüfen Sie am Display den RSSI-Pegel. Nach vier Minuten werden die Verstärkung
und die Autogain wieder auf die vorher eingestellten Werte zurückgesetzt.
Richten Sie die Sendeantenne aus.
Überprüfen Sie die LEDs des Repeaters:
Die Status LED sollte grün sein.
Die ALC LED sollte aus sein.
Verändern Sie die Empfangsantennenausrichtung um den RSSI-Pegel
einzurichten, damit nicht der ALC-Pegel erreicht wird (das heißt, die ALC
LED ist aus).
Geringe Eingangsleistung (Pin < max. Pout - Gain) kann zu reduzierter
Ausgangsleistung führen.
Zu hohe Eingangsleistung (Pin > max. Pout - Gain) kann zu einem ALC Alarm führen. Verändern
Sie die Empfangsantennenausrichtung um optimalen Betrieb zu gewährleisten. Sollte die
Eingangsleistung immer noch zu hoch sein, setzen Sie externe Dämpfungsglieder im
Empfangspfad ein.
Wird "< -80" und keine Balken im Display angezeigt, ist der Eingangspegel von BTS/Node B zu
niedrig. Überprüfen Sie das Empfangsantennenkabel, die Empfangsantenne und deren
Ausrichtung zu BTS/Node B.
Das Display wird automatisch nach 10 Minuten ausgeschaltet. Zum Aktivieren den Reset- und
Installationshilfe Knopf drücken.
