1. Introduction
USB 2.0 flashIT2 Flash Drive is a mini-removable electronic hard disk with the
storage media of flash memory. Data transferring between personal computer and
USB 2.0 flashIT2 Flash Drive can be accomplished via the USB port. USB 2.0
flashIT2 Flash Drive is also an anti-shock and damp proof product. It becomes an
ideal portable storage media because of its mini size, big memory capacity and
great performance.

4. Driver Installation
4.1 Windows®98SE Driver Installation
4.1.1 Insert your USB 2.0 flashIT2 Flash Drive driver CD, find the folder
named “utility software”, then double click “Setup.exe”. Follow the
instructions on the screen to install the driver automatically.
4.1.2 Plug USB 2.0 flashIT2 Flash Drive into the USB port, the system will
install the hardware automatically. Open “My Computer”, a new icon
using the next available drive letter labeled “Removable Disk” will
appear in “My Computer”.
4.2 Windows®ME/2000/XP Driver Installation
4.2.1 Just insert USB 2.0 flashIT2 Flash Drive into USB port, system will
install USB 2.0 flashIT2 Flash Drive automatically. After that you can find
a new icon using the next available drive letter labeled “ Removable
Disk” in “ My Computer”, then you can operate USB 2.0 flashIT2 Flash
Drive just as your local hard disk.
4.3 Linux Driver Installation
4.3.1 You can utilize command “Mount” to mount this device.
4.3.2 Insert USB 2.0 flashIT2 Flash Drive into USB port first.
4.3.3 Execute “cd /etc/sysconfig/ (cat /etc/sysconfig/hwconf / more)”.
4.3.4 Check the device information in “hwconf” and write down the mount
point.
4.3.5 Make a new directory in “/mnt (ex: mkdir/mnt/usbHD)”. Then carry out
“mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/usbHD (if mount point was dev/sda)”.

4.4 Mac 9.1 and above
4.4.1 Just insert USB 2.0 flashIT2 Flash Drive into USB port, the system
should recognize it and install with automatically. There will then be an
untitled disk on the desktop.
5. Software Operation (Windows only)
5.1 Using Security Utility for the First Time
5.1.1 Insert your USB 2.0 flashIT2 Flash Drive driver CD, find the folder
named “utility software”, then double click “setup.exe”.
5.1.2 Follow the on-screen instructions to install the utility program.
The utility shortcut icon will appear on the desktop and system tray
5.2 Create Partition
Warning The Partition action will erase all the data in the device. The action
is not reversible. If necessary, back up your data before taking this action.
Also, please close all the active programs and windows on the screen of your
computer.
5.2.1. Run Memorybar.exe and select the “Partition” tab.
5.2.2. Slide the “Security Disk Size” bar to select the size of the security zone.
5.2.3. Click the “Partition” button to partition the drive.
The following warning will pop up. Click “Partition to accept.

5.2.4. When partitioning is complete, click “ok” to finish the process.
After partitioning the default password is “0000”; and memorybar.exe
is copied into the disk public area. To change the password, follow the
instructions in the “Change Password” section.
The presence of memorybar.exe allows the users to use the
application at other PCs. The memorybar.exe icon can also be found
in the USB disk public area or Window’s menu bar area.

Note: If the Security Disk Size has been set to “0”, then only the public disk
will exist.
5.3 Change Password
This option is only valid only after the security area has been defined.
The Password tab is only shown after the secured zone is created.
Password may be up to 12 characters long.
5.3.1. Double click the icon to activate the utility
5.3.2. Select the “Password” tab
5.3.3. Enter the old password and confirm the new password.
5.3.4. Password Hint is useful if you forget your password.
5.3.5. Click “Change Password” then click “Ok” to complete the change.

5.4 Log in to the Security Disk Zone
To access the Security Disk you need to log in using the password:
5.4.1. Double click the icon to activate the utility
5.4.2. Select the “Login/Logout” tab
5.4.3. Click on “Password Hint” to get the reminder id necessary. Fill in the
password and click the “Login” button.
5.4.4. Click “Ok” to enter the secured zone.
5.5 Log out of the Security Disk Zone
To access the Public Disk you need to log out of the secured zone.
5.5.1. Double click the icon to activate the utility
5.5.2. Select the “Login/Logout” tab
5.5.3. Click on “Logout” button.
5.5.4. Click “Ok” to enter the public zone.
Note: Un-plugging and re-plugging the Comsol flashIT2 drive will
automatically switch to public zone.
5.6 Icon Prompt
5.6.1. When disk is in public zone, “My Computer” will display a green icon
5.6.2. When disk is in secured zone, “My Computer” will display a red icon

5.7 BootUp Feature – Only for Windows 98SE
The BootUp options only appear if the Comsol flashIT2 Flash Drive and utility program
is installed on Windows 98SE Operating system.
The interface will appear as below with the boot-up options
5.6.3. Select the “Bootable Disk” option on the “Partition” tab and select
bootup type - USB-ZIP or USB-HDD.
5.6.4. Click“Partition”,the disk will be formatted, and all bootup program
files are copied to the root of the removable disk. After formatting, the
Comsol flashIT2 Flash Drive becomes a bootable disk that will
bootup the DOS system in USB-ZIP or USB-HDD mode.
Note: When the disk is made as USB-HDD bootable disk, it does not support partition
function.
5.8 Using the bootable disk under DOS
To operate the Comsol flashIT2 Flash Drive under DOS, the BIOS of your
motherboard MUST support USB-ZIP or USB-HDD bootup.
Plug the bootable disk into the USB port of the computer. Set “First Boot Device” of
the BIOS as “USB-ZIP” or “USB-HDD”, then the Comsol flashIT2 Flash Drive can be
used to bootup DOS. When booting to DOS, you can use the Comsol flashIT2 Flash
Drive under DOS.
Note:
•If the bootup mode is USB-ZIP, when the system boots to DOS, the Comsol
flashIT2 Flash Drive is “Drive A”; If the bootup mode is USB-HDD, it is “Drive
C”.
•We cannot guarantee that all kinds of motherboard will boot successfully due
to different BIOS designs.

7. Frequently Asked Questions
1. When the Comsol flashIT2 Flash Drive is installed properly, the system still cannot identify
the device, why?
Answer: a) Please check “USB controller” option in the BIOS. Confirm you have selected
“Enable” for this item.(Please refer to the Motherboard BIOS manual for detail information).
b) Make sure Comsol flashIT2 Flash Drive is connected properly with the USB interface.
c) Confirm whether the USB system was installed correctly, please refer to the related operating
system manual for the correct setting of USB system.
2. Can I scan the Comsol flashIT2 Flash Drive using the “Scandisk” tool provided by WINDOWS?
Answer: Yes. But it is not recommended to choose the “full” scandisk option, which will cause the flash
memory’s sectors to be written multiple times. This will affect the life span of the Comsol flashIT2 Flash
Drive.
3. Why is the available disk space less than the identified value?
Answer: Because the Comsol flashIT2 Flash Drive utility shares some of this space, and some
additional space is used as an exchange area to enhance writing and reading speed.
4. What does the LED on the Comsol flashIT2 Flash Drive indicate?
Answer: It is in standby mode when the LED is on. It is in read/write mode when the LED flickers.
5. Is it OK to pull out the Comsol flashIT2 Flash Drive while the LED is still flickering?
Answer: No. If the Comsol flashIT2 Flash Drive is disconnected while the LED is still flickering, the data
on the flash drive may become corrupt or disappear.
6. Under Windows ME or Windows 2000 operating system, I unplugged the Comsol flashIT2
Flash Drive in the proper way, but the computer indicates “Unsafe Removal of Device”. Why?
Answer: It is caused by improper operation. The proper operation is as follows: click Safely Remove
Hardware icon at the right bottom of the taskbar →click “Stop” button →click “OK”→Unplug the Comsol
flashIT2 Flash Drive from the USB port after the removable disk icon has disappeared from My
Computer.
7.When I unplug the Comsol flashIT2 Flash Drive after the computer indicates accomplishment
of copy process, it prompts that files have not been copied completely yet, Why?
Answer: Since the operating system provides buffer space for data storage, the rate of progress does
not equal the real accomplishment of data copy. User should take notice of the LED indicator. If it is still
flickering, do not unplug the Comsol flashIT2 Flash Drive. When you confirm it is no longer flickering,
wait for approximately 2 seconds, then unplug the flash drive.
8. Can the Comsol flashIT2 Flash Drive be shared in a Local Area Network?
Answer: Yes, you can operate it just like a local hard disk.
